My mother was there for over three weeks. She was neglected most of the time. She was abandoned a few times in a wheelchair in the dining room. She had soiled herself buzzed to let them know and they made her wait 2 hours before going check on her. Only because my brother showed up and complained after my mom told him. After lunch she would be put in bed until the next day for physical therapy. The whole time she was there they never washed her hair. Upon being relocated to Iberia Rehabilitation hospital they saw a sore on her behind that was raw and starting to get infected. Most likely from being left dirty for so long. She said she was left alone most of the day until one of us (her children) showed up then all of a sudden they were there doing things for her. Also she had a low blood sugar the worker gave her a cup of water with a packet of sugar and left her. What if her sugar hadn’t gone up? I don’t know how other nursing homes work but I hated my mother being there. My thing is if she was treated this way with her kids and grandkids going to see her everyday, what happens to those who have no one checking on them? Most iMessage when we got there workers were outside smoking, on the phone or socializing. She had two nurses that she really liked. Who took time to talk to her, ask her how she felt and made sure she was ok.

do NOT put your love one in this place! The rehabilitation rooms are disgusting. Look like they never mop the place. Staff don't even take care of the people. Look like they just there for a check! I am saying this BC my husband grandma fail out her bed & all they could say was "we aren't sure how long she been on the floor" another thing they never clean her wound & it got infected. Don't get fool by the front of the building. Make sure your tour the WHOLE place. I even brought my own Lysol & wipe down anything & everything that I can think of we would touch. This place need to be reported.

Not a place you would want your loved one! Poor Care, and understaffing issues! Yes the facility is nice when you walk in but that's the only nice thing about this place. The DON was rude when it came to addressing issues with our loved one! Beware of this place!!

Belle Teche Nursing Home treated my father in law excellently. He lived the last 2 months of his life there. The move was very traumatic for him but they helped him fairly quickly to adjust. They were very helpful and they took care of getting rid of his personal belongings. They treated him very well and he liked it there. We had a very positive experience there.

in my opinion this home was cleaner than most that i have visited in the past. there is no smell of urine as you open the front door, like others i have visited. overall the staff is very caring and helpful. alot of this has to do with the office staff which is on top of their jobs!
