We toured Holiday Nouveau Marc. We thought everyone there was lovely, and the people who were staying there were nice. And I understand they're getting ready to make a lot of expenditures on updating the public rooms.

I toured Holiday Nouveau Marc at lunchtime and Denise introduced me to people and nobody said anything to me. They just told Denise "Hurry up, it's lunchtime." Like the most exciting thing was getting to the dining room for lunch because you don't dare miss a meal there as you cannot cook in your unit. You cannot have fire in your unit. So when I walked in, there was that smell like nursing homes smell and then they had some people that were sitting down with the TV screen in front of them, and they were playing trivia on a TV screen. There were 4 of them in their 80s and we went up and had to take the elevator. The elevator was slow and one guy was like "You can age in here." I said, "Too bad the age doesn't go backwards, because we ride the elevator all day long." He started laughing and everybody else was like, "Hurry up. We got to get lunch, to the dining room." They have a library that's out of date and not modern. The rooms are gorgeous but again you just get a refrigerator and countertop. You cannot bring anything that puts out heat. They have a community washer and dryer.

I went to see Holiday Nouveau Marc. I like the atmosphere and the people there, they're all polite and the staff works with you. The place looked nice and clean, and the food is good. They have daily activities that go on, so it's a great little community for you. They treated us to lunch and then we went on the tour, everything was great. They have a full gym and a little community center where they have activities and a library.

Ginger took me through Holiday Nouveau Marc and she was very nice and very accommodating. She gave me information and she also offered other things that are important about the building itself, the community, and the management. However, it was not appealing to me. The rooms were too small and it had a feeling of being in a nursing home. I know that they're going to renovate it, which certainly gives it possibilities, but at this point, I'm not interested. Parking was also limited.

Holiday Nouveau Marc was wonderful. Ginger was very, very informative, and helpful. We would love for my mom to be there, and I really feel that she would have good care. The staff looked like they were really open and honest about their activities. Everybody was just helpful. I didn't observe any activity that day, but I saw a wonderful, spacious dining room. It was very inviting and very upscale. It's like going to a five-star restaurant. The rooms were well lit and looked very safe. The decor was inviting. There were some residents that were in the gaming area, so everyone must have been out or something like that. The neighborhood that it was in looked like it was very quiet. There wasn't a lot of traffic. The van that takes them to different places, I saw that parked outside.

We toured Holiday Nouveau Marc. The tour person was very forthcoming, very open, and honest about the facility. I saw a studio apartment. The layout was small. Nothing fancy and it's kind of what I was expecting. Their eating facility was nice. It had a hotel feel. They have an itinerary for the residents to participate in monthly. They have laundry services and housekeeping services. I only met one staff person and that was the LPN, Veronica. Veronica was very, very polite, very forthcoming, honest, and open about what the facility can offer and what it can't offer.

Food is atrocious. No shuttle driver as advertised. "Maintenance man" does nothing. Corporate management is driving everyone away with their sheer incompetence.

What I liked most about Holiday Nouveau Marc was that it seemed to be a nice, clean, and well-run facility with enough amenities. The dining is three full meals and 24 hours of snack time. There's internet capability and cable, and you can have an additional fee to help with medications. The gentleman that took us around was timely. He showed us everything we were interested in and explained everything well. It was not a pressure situation. He was trying to do a good fit and I thought he did a thorough job.

We toured Holiday Nouveau Marc for my parents. It was very welcoming when we got there. The staff and Scott all welcomed us by name, and it was really nice. Even the people that live there were very nice. The first thing that we saw was the lobby, which was very welcoming. It had lots of places to sit, very clean, and open. Scott took us into his office where we talked, and he made us feel very comfortable, especially my mom and father, because this is our first time. He hit the nail on the head when he knew exactly how my mom and dad felt. And that made them feel comfortable to just feel relaxed, nothing's on stone right now. You don't have to sign anything, so he allows them to just be open and to see what they have. He was very informational. He gave us the most important things about the senior citizens' community. He showed us everything around and introduced us to some of the residents there. They were very nice and introduced themselves too. At that time, they were in renovation. We were just shown the floor plan and how it's normally set. It was nice and roomy. They were lifting the carpet out and just getting ready for a new tenant. We wanted to see the two bedrooms, so that's the only one that was available to see, and they were under renovation at that time. We went upstairs to the library, and the dining room was beautiful. Everything was gorgeous. We sat down in the dining room, and people were just coming up to say hi, and it was just really nice. The food was good. The people that served us were excellent, very attentive, and the area was very clean. They had salads, so it was really healthy. It was like a four-course meal. There was a salad, an entree, and then a dessert and coffee. I wish they would have had a model home so we could see the big picture. Scott kept in touch with me after that tour.

I like Holiday Nouveau Marc. Their bedrooms were nice with the balcony. The dining area was very beautiful. I liked it. The only thing I wasn't very happy with was the price. It was extremely expensive. You have to get separate healthcare for medicines and things like that and that's extra. It's very expensive monthly. The staff during the tour was very helpful. I had an appointment and the person that was supposed to be there wasn't there. I was very punctual, but they had to go look for somebody else to help me out. I finally got help and they showed me the two bedrooms. Overall, it was OK. The little living area at the entrance where I was waiting looked neat, but it was like nobody has gone in it in two weeks. It's easy to tell that it hasn't been cleaned. I was happy with the bedrooms though, and they were comfortable. Once you get out of the elevator, there's a beautiful, very formal dining room, and that's what makes it very elegant. They didn't tour me too much around, just the studio and the one-bedroom. I saw a little room where they had the TV and games. They had people in there, but we didn't get into detail about what kind of games there were.

Much of the staff tries hard here, and several are very nice. HOWEVER, there are some unnecessarily "sassy" people in the cafeteria (people should answer, "Yes, Sir," "Yes, Ma'am," etc., not "I don't do that"), and the food situation is a MESS. Food CAN be good, but most often the menu doesn't match what's available, and service is very, very slow.

I took a tour of Nouveau Marc, and the place is very nice. I pretty much saw just the one-bedroom, and the efficiency, but they are both nice and cozy. The one-bedroom was more to our liking. The facility was nice, and the lady that helped me was very helpful, and very nice. She gave us a tour of the whole facility and the models, and they were very nice. She showed us the gaming rooms, and a walking track or a walking path outside. They have religious services and she showed us that area. She also showed the dining room. It is an older facility, but it was very nice, and very well kept.

Nouveau Marc was a beautiful place. It's a great independent living center. It's not one that I would consider for my dad because I think he is not totally independent. The facility was nice. There's a lot of features. The rooms were nice and big. I like the activities that they plan every day, and their scheduled menus. Some of the rooms have a little balcony where you can roll out. It's a nice, quiet place. I like it. The facility was really big and open. It's an open floor. There's nothing on the floor that would prevent a wheelchair from rolling in and rolling out. I like the openness of it. I only met the tour guide, and she was very nice.

Nouveau Marc was very nice, the residents seemed very friendly, and the marketing director was very nice, congenial, and very accommodating to our requests. The overall property was nice. The only negative thing we have is the rooms are very tiny, and I don't know if our current furniture will fit in there. If it doesn't, then that's going to be an added expense for us to replace furniture and get something that will fit. That's the only negative that I could come up with, and it doesn't leave it out. We're definitely considering it very much so. It was very clean. The amenities were incredible. Everything's included, so that's a huge plus. They have a very welcoming area when you come in. There are residences on the bottom floor and second. They have a very nice dining area where they serve three meals a day. There are laundry facilities. The whole place was very clean and looked very well-maintained. The staff was excellent. They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The marketing director was just unbelievably wonderful. She answered all our questions, was very friendly, and all the residents love her. Everyone she passed, she called them by name, she greeted them, they greeted her back, and it looked like they just adore her. She made everything so pleasant yesterday. It made you want to just jump in right away. We didn't try the food, but she invited us if we wanted to come today for lunch.

Nouveau Marc was very nice and clean. The room was spacious and nice. The staff was really nice and informative. The dining room was nice, but I didn't know about the food because they weren't serving any food during my tour at the facility. They have games. They have a pool table and a very spacious game room. They have a salon inside the facility, which is very nice and it looks professional.

I went to Nouveau Marc for an in-person tour. It seemed like a clean, safe environment. I wasn't able to interact with the people too much because of the pandemic, which kinda limited me being able to really talk to the people that lived there. I really would have liked to have done that. Basically, I looked at the lobby, the welcoming area for the people, and the apartment that I was considering to meet my needs. It seemed like a nice area, close enough to the shopping and fitness centers, and close enough to visit New Orleans. They have several churches there available for worship. They also have worship there onsite on Sundays. They have a laundry facility. They even invited me to come back sometime to enjoy the dining hall, but I didn't follow up on that, so I don't know about the dining facility. They had a piano in the lobby. They have housekeeping and cable connections available.

Nouveau Marc is a very nice place, and I considered Mom to go there. The staff member accommodated us very well and was friendly and personable. The staff, not just the lady who took me on the tour, had good eye-contact and nice greetings. The residents seemed active, and we walked away feeling that it's a cheery place. The lady who took me on the tour was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and I was very comfortable talking to her. They had activities like cards, bingo, and art. They also had an exercise room and a little bit of a walking area.

Nouveau Marc was spacious and the atmosphere was pretty affirming. The staff was very nice and great. They have 1- and 2-bedrooms. The landscaping is really nice and there's a very nice patio with a jogging path. They have a pretty robust schedule of activities where they transport people back and forth to places they want to go, like casinos or church.

Nouveau Marc offers food and a place for you to stay. It also has an area to walk in. The person who assisted me was very helpful, and the people who are living there seemed to be happy -- I think they were playing some kind of card game. I would say this place looked like it has some potential. It would be one of the places that I would have on my list to consider.

I was shocked to see my Mother being treated as a begger. She has been here for several years and the meal service has declined. For both Christmas and Thanksgiving, she got a styrofoam container of food - they send that for delivery everyday! She is no longer able to get to the dining room on the 3rd floor so her meals have been delivered for almost a year now but I was shocked that even Christmas and Thanksgiving meal was in a "to go" container. She pays the same rent as others. I went to the office and the manager onsite was very nice but I wouldnt tell her who my mom was for fear they would spit in her food! The Manager offered me Corporates number but there I sat on hold for numerous minutes until giving up. I appreciate the blonde manager in the office being understanding, even went upstairs and got me a plate and real silverware and glasses but NO one was in the kitchen and for dinner they had ham or turnkey sandwiches for dinner? Another styrofoam box to throw away....... I can't believe they treat people as beggers........ For $2,500 per month? Wow! Looking for another place for Mom.

I had a great visit at Nouveau Marc. The staff was very warm, friendly and inviting. I liked the fact that the staff that showed me around seemed to know everybody by their name and called me just to follow up. The place was fine. It was nice and comfortable. I saw a two-bedroom unit that had just been moved out of and also a one-bedroom unit that someone was going to be moving into and they were both very nice. I thought the one bedroom was nice and spacious enough. I thought the two-bedroom was kind of small for the cost, but it was very nice. She offered me to sample the meal, but I did not. However, it looked good. I liked that they had a very nice cozy dining room. They had more than one dining room. I met the chef and he shared a lot of the menu with me. They seemed to have a lot of selections. I had their calendar of activities and they seemed to have plenty enough to do.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father has lived at Nouveau Marc for 11 years.. longer than any resident currently there. He is stroke victim with limited speech but is still able to care for himself. Needless to say after 11 years he's become very settled at NM and likes being there, but as his child and the one paying the monthly rental, I can honestly say the level of service and the quality of care has declined dramatically over the past few years. It is very apparent the management company ( Holiday Retirement Services) is trying to run an aging facility on a shoestring budget. They obviously want to put as little of money back into the facility as possible, at the expense of their residents. The on sight management has been a revolving door of new faces, each one saying "we are new, we are trying to get things in order." Then they are gone in a few months. Services, such as weekly housekeeping is DEPLORABLE! The level of cleaning is so bad, why bother? The only way I know someone has been in my father's room to clean is the vacuum marks on the carpet, the rest of the room is barely touched. The bathroom, kitchen and floors are left so disgusting that I clean them myself every time I'm there. I believe one reason for the terrible service is not only do the housekeepers have the responsibility to clean rooms, they also work in the dining room during meal service each day. The fact Nouveau Marc does not hire housekeepers just to clean and food service workers just to work in the dining room is obviously another way to cut corners. I've asked to have my father's carpet cleaned for over a month now, but apparently they no longer have a service contract with a cleaning company and can't find one because they are all "too expensive." In the 11 years my father has lived there, we have only asked for his leaking toilet to be replaced, new carpet to be installed, and a fresh coat of paint. Not too much considering 11 years of rent we've paid. I wish things would improve, I know my dad doesn't want to move, but as his caregiver, it's difficult to deal with NM, I feel they DON'T have the residents best interest in mind. Obviously, the on sight management must have their hands tied with an unrealistic operating budget coming from the corporate office but they have a responsible to provide the level of care they have promised to their residents. The facility is getting older and needs updating but I do believe the activities and entertainment they provide for the residents is a huge plus, and for the most part, residents seem to be content there.

Provider Response

Nouveau Marc had a nice description on their website, but when we went there, we weren't at all impressed. The lobby was old. The carpeting was old. There was a smell of urine and disinfectant overriding that; they're trying to clean things up. Their clientele was much older people and had a lot of significant needs. The staff appeared to be nice. The lady director was very, very nice. Overall, they just need to update their lobby at least, probably not have carpeting as much as they do, and have their accessories be so that they can clean them much better so that there isn't that lingering smell of urine and disinfectant. You could tell that they try to keep it clean; it is just that it was old.

It's called Nouveau Marc, and it's a retirement area. I chose them because they're 5 minutes away from me. The pricing is very good. They offer games like bingo, arts and crafts, music, happy hour, card playing, and they take some field trips out to the stores or to the restaurantS. It was excellent. I was very pleased with Nouveau Marc. I like the cleanliness and everything about it except the cost. The staff couldn't have been nicer, very pleasant. They had a speaker come in. He was there to talk with the seniors. It was a wonderful experience. The rooms were a little small but were nice. I think it was more the assisted living that I saw. I did eat there and I wish I had that cook because everything was very tasty. They were terrific. The dining room was pretty large and they had a separate wine room that the guests could use. Everything about it that I saw was excellent.

My aunt lived here since 2006. She recently passed away at 95 years young. The room was nice, not great but roomy and near the elevator. The food was great, sometimes though lots of times the chef was changed so the food taste went up and down through the years. The dining room attendants were very nice and kind and the room had a restaurant atmosphere. Lots of activities, though my aunt never participated.

Nouveau Marc just worked out for my father. We just get more, compared to the previous one. My Dad is still young and he's 60 and I just needed to find a place for him that is affordable and closer to the family members and also have a nice group of people. We already made a deposit and we are just waiting for availability. Their rooms are nice. It had a balcony and that was a good selling point.
