"I saw Lakewood Sherwood Village for a tour. I like it. It was clean, pretty, roomy, and nice. The tour was great. The staff showed me how well the room was set up. She didn't have an empty one right then, but she took me to one to let me see how it looked and how the furniture could be put in. I went to the kitchen, and you can either eat in their room if they want or eat in the dining room. I looked at the grounds. It was very open, very clean, and there was lots of light. It was a great place. The staff who gave the tour was wonderful. She was great. Gabby was really good. With regards to food, when you move there, you get breakfast and lunch. If you want supper or a snack, it might cost you a little more money."

"Driving into the location, the outside looks very peaceful and serene. It had an old southern plantation feeling. The grounds were beautiful. We were a little confused by the building placements. The staff was very polite and helpful. They bought chairs into the room so that we could all be comfortable and visit. My only negative to the home was that the room my father-in-law was in had two other gentleman. It was a bit cramped and space was very limited in the facility. The building appeared to be older that ten to twenty years at least. While their a few nurses and other patients stopped by to meet us. I got a feeling that my father in law had been bragging again. The staff and residents were very polite and friendly. They seemed to take very good car of my father in law and he seemed pleased as well. "

"My uncle is a resident at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson, La. He loves it there. When we go to see him the staff are very friendly to us and him. He is always happy and is on a first name basis with the staff on his floor. When he leaves for four days he is always ready to return. Kudos to the staff at Louisiana War Veterans Home. "

"This facility has been in my community for a long time. I was urged by Lane Regional Med Center to go to Grace in Slaughter. I stuck with my gut and sent my mother to Zachary Manor. I have never been more impressed in my life. This facility defines the phrase " team work". The rooms were immaculate, the staff was so personable and knowledgeable. The Supervisors in every department are involved with care. The food overall could be better, but it is in a nursing home, a lot of restriction probably apply. There are so many activities a day! The activity director blew my mind. People coming to sing, painting, BINGO, etc. I did not know that in a nursing facility they did stuff like this. THE RESIDENT/STAFF/FAMILY parties are so much fun and geared towards the residents!! I would never go anywhere else for my loved ones and I will forever stand behind the Zachary Manor and all their values. "

"Lane Memorial Nursing Home is a very welcoming and caring institution which has a wonderful atmosphere specialized to care and strived to meet the needs of many elderly all around the state to improve their quality of life. As individuals begin to age, they will need the best nursing home assistance especially if we do not have family members all the time to take care of us, and for myself, I have witness the caring assistance give to a Grand Aunt who was admitted to the Lane Memorial Nursing Home Two(2) years ago. We had issues in the past with the institution not having the amount of staff required to provide the care that you would like as a member or a visitor as observed previously, however many changes has been implemented as well as incorporated to have fully trained staff to meet the needs and to care for such individuals. I must admit the area is clean and healthy. The atmosphere is very comfortable, very spacious and welcoming. Once thing I admire of such an institution or facility is that it welcomes volunteers, family and friends to come assist for instance with various activities such as host events and outings or help provide care in other areas as much as possible within legal requirements that will benefit the member and the facility at large. "My uncle is at Lane Rehab Center an affiliate of Lane Regional Med Ctr. He has had excellent care. The facility is very clean, no unpleasant odors and the staff is very cooperative with addressing our concerns and questions regarding his care. The staff is also very helpful in making you aware of your rights as a Medicare patient, especially when the insurance company is trying to deny benefits. I would highly recommend this facility for any rehabilitation needs, its the best!. "

"My mother moved into Oakwood Village Assisted Living. I chose it for the Hometown feel and convenience. I like the care that she is getting. There's not anything I don't like. They are very attentive to my mother's needs. She's just been there two weeks, three weeks maximum. They have bingo, bible study, they have crafts. They have outings if she chooses to go on the van to go on a lunch outing. They do have a salon. They have a nice fireplace in the common area, TVs, outdoor seating, and a sidewalk so that residents can go outside and walk."

"We didn't choose The Claiborne at Shoe Creek because it was at least $1000 more a month than the other community we looked at. The rooms had different floor plans with different prices. The place was beautiful, and the staff was friendly. They keep the residents all on the same apartment. They have a memory care area, but where I toured, they don't change the rooms when they up the level. So, if my mother starts off at assisted living and as she gets into memory care, she stays in the same apartment and they'll just do more rounds. I like the layout of the place."

"My uncle moved into Harvest Manor Nursing Home. They have been taking very good care of him. He's in custodial care and they're doing everything they can. He's currently in a semi-private room, but they're moving everyone to private rooms in February. It's an older facility, but there's nothing wrong with it. He seems to really enjoy the food, and he said they're very good cooks."

"My dad is in Harvest Manor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and he loves it there. It's a great place. The people are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. From the physical therapy standpoint to all of his aides, the nurses, the nurse practitioners, everyone is pleasant and helpful and keeps you informed of what's going on. The place is very clean and modern and just well-maintained inside and outside. They have a beautiful patio. He loves the food. As far as what he has to eat, he's very happy with that. I really can't say anything bad. There is a beauty salon, and barber salon. There's a beautiful outdoor area for them to go in with chairs and a table. The dining room is nice and they offer music at night and in the mornings also. There's music at different times. They play bingo and other games. I've seen an area, and it's warm and you can go sit there and you feel welcome. It's an area where you can visit with your loved one and talk and watch television."

"My father is in a skilled nursing unit for rehab at Flannery Oaks Guest House. It looks like he'll probably be going back home after that because he's progressing pretty well. He's been there for almost three weeks. The atmosphere is very friendly. Everyone seems to be very helpful. They are attentive to the needs of the residents, as far as administration. Any questions or things that I've needed, they responded and assisted me with those things. The first thing I noticed when I went in was how fresh and clean things were. I took a tour of the facility. Everything was very nice. Overall, it's a good environment. They were primarily assisting him with day-to-day activities as far as getting dressed and bathing, but the main deal is he's receiving rehab for his broken shoulder. He's walking better. They're kind of keeping him active and making sure he's able to function properly once he leaves. I haven't tried any of the food. However, my dad says it's OK. His room is nice. It's just him in the room by himself, so that's comforting for him and even myself when I go in to visit. It's a nice-sized room and it seems a bit comfortable. They keep them active."

"Both of my parents have been living in Maison de Fleur's Assisted Living facility in Denham Springs, LA since July 14th, 2018 since my dad's stroke. It took them about 2 months to get acclimated and feel like they were home. From that point, they both have been extremely happy and enjoy their living experience at Maison. They enjoy the staff, the outings, the planned activities, the entertainment & parties. As the adult child helping them through their elder years, it is encouraging to know they are being well taken care of and are happy. I highly recommend Maison for all of your Assisted Living needs for your family. They have a library, Salon and weekly bible studies, too, which my parents enjoy. The food is a good, usually dessert too after each meal. Rooms are a great size and the monthly rates are reasonable."

"My visit to The Care Center was pleasant. I visited this facility because my mother-in-law lived here before she passed on. She was no longer able to live alone in her apartment, so our family searched for an assisted living facility. Upon finding the facility we conducted a tour and decided that The Care Center would be the place where she would reside. The staff was friendly as well as personable. They learned her name very quickly to make her feel at home, as well as learning mine, my husband's, as well as my sister-in-law's name, being that we would be visiting her quite frequently. The amenities were good as well. The room itself was nicely sized since she would not be doing much moving around on her own. The facility itself was nice in that it provided exercise for her since she was unable to really move around a lot. My mother in law passed away months ago, but at least her transition was done around people who loved and cared for her the most. "

"The staff at The Guest House is very helpful and friendly. My dad is not really happy with the food there. I would give the physical therapists extra-high praise because they are all very good and very professional. They are always available when I need to talk to them about my dad’s progress. My dad has a private room, which has a half bathroom, in a hall where all of the people there need only short-time care. They have church services, bingo, and movie nights. They need to improve their food to make it nice and healthy. They are doing a lot of renovations. "

"We liked Colonial Care Retirement Center a lot. It smells good and doesn’t have that nursing home smell. They do stuff that they aren’t even required to do for my mama. When she first gets up, she’ll be nauseous, but they’ll bring her a breakfast tray to her room. They don’t have to help with the laundry -- it’s extra -- but they had been helping her with it. They do a lot of little things as far as helping her to be comfortable and happy there. It’s harder for her to be able to eat because her esophagus doesn’t work, but as far as the way the food is presented and cooked, there’s not an issue with that. She says it’s pretty good. The location is very convenient for us. She has a much larger studio room with a big window. The kitchen area is very huge, nice, and bright, but it’s kind of small. They have at least 3 or 4 things every day. They have bingo and sing-alongs. We’re very Catholic in South Louisiana, and they do have the rosary once a week. There are a couple of times a month that they take them to Wal-Mart. Each month, they go to a different restaurant. You can go if you want to, and you don’t have to if you don’t want to. For Christmas, they have family day. "
