I'm currently a resident of Windsor of Savoy. It's very nice. It's clean. It's a little bit on the expensive side. I have a full kitchen. I have a two-bedroom unit. There is a living room in the middle. It works out very nicely. It's very good. The staff are always very helpful. They provide breakfast from 7:00 to 8:30. They also provide a full dinner meal between 4:30 and 6:30. They have plenty of places to walk and plenty of activities to take part in if you want to. They play cards in the afternoon. There is always music from the community on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 to 8:00. It's very nice. The activities are very good if you choose to take part in them. It's an excellent place to be.

The Windsor of Savoy is a small and resident-focused community. They are warm and engaging. They have activities that focus on the quality lifestyle and genuine interest in each resident as an individual. The rooms were fresh and updated with nice views. I had a meal there. They served soup, salad, plated entrees, and dessert and I ate everything. Overall, it is excellent.

I visited Windsor of Savoy, which is an excellent community. However, the rates are different compared to the other community we visited. They don't even require a financial statement, and they don't take over all of your interest; you just pay a flat monthly fee. They have a waiting list of about six months. They had excellent staff who was very helpful while we were there. I looked over to the units, and we're pleased that they're very well taken care of. The rooms had good appliances, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave oven, a regular stove, large closets, and a storage area available in the basement if you have some extra things. You're also allowed to move in your own furniture. They have a good staff, good dining facility, no pool, but they have a good workout room, and they have a lot of good social activities. Everything is nice and clean, and they have transportation for everybody or garages if you still drive.

Windsor of Savoy looks like an old folks' home. It is not a palace, but it is decent. I observed people playing cards, but I also observed people in there complaining to the management. I never ate there, but it looked like they are served in a good dining room.

This facility claims to be the "premier" retirement/assisted living community, a claim that I find very likely to be true. It is located just outside of Champaign/Urbana, and has lots of open, green spaces around it. Depending on the personality of the occupant, the nicely landscaped lawns and gardens may or may not be important, but it certainly was appealing to my family, as we tend to be outdoor people and enjoy spending time together while walking. The campus actually has two different parts a pure retirement community and an assisted living portion. Both of which share the community amenities such as the dining hall, library, lounge, etc. What most appealed to me as a medical professional was the quality and amount of nursing and personal assistance care that the residents receive. I was completely comfortable with the capability of the staff to help with basic needs such as medications and physical therapy and also trusted their judgment in more serious medical emergencies. The downside to this quality care is that the facility is quite expensive relative to its competitors in the area. There is also a waiting list to get in, so ultimately my family had to look elsewhere.

My parents were residents of the Windsor of Savoy for 7 and 14 years (mother, father). They loved it! Everyone was very nice and friendly, the care was excellent, the food outstanding (I couldn't get my father to go out for dinner since the Windsor had "the best restaurant in town right here--and he was right). I couldn't have asked for more of a retirement community.
