The hallway (street) behind the storage closet wall is used for activities such as bowling, ring toss, lawn darts, beanbag toss, washer toss, Frisbee throw, etc. Seasons are represented as the winter evergreens become flowering spring and summer trees, and then colorful autumn maple trees for fall. We want our residents to enjoy seasonal changes inside and out. The owners of Arbor Rose believe so much in the advantages of having our residents as active as possible. We have seen improvement in mental and physical conditions and overall enjoyment of life when our residents have been engaged in fun and interesting activities. "The staff is great at Eastview Terrace. I have no complaints, so far. They're taking great care of my mom. The building is old, but could be updated. It's a single story. The nurse's station is in the middle of the building, and then there's a wing to each side of that station. I like that setup because no one is really very far from the nurse's station. There's a lot of staff, and they're always mingling around and know what's going on. It doesn't matter who answers the phone, they know my mom and know what's going on. I was able to try the food on Saturday before Mother's Day and what we had was great. The facility seems clean. It doesn't have a strong odor like some nursing homes do. It's just beaten up. It needs to be spruced up, but it's not dirty. They take a lot of Medicaid patients too."

"My grandmother has been in this nursing home for 4 years, so I have visited on many occasions. As is the case for most nursing homes, it is a fairly depressing place. There is the usual smell, and often residents sit in their rooms or the hallway talking to themselves or complaining about something. However, the facility, while being well-worn, is always clean, and the staff are friendly and attentive. My grandmother has many friends among the staff members, and some of them have given her presents with their own money. She enjoys the planned activities, like bingo and handbell ringing, where the staff helps her participate in spite of her limited eyesight. She was even awarded the "Valentine's Day Queen" title once and got her picture in the local newspaper. Due to its easily accessible location in a small town, many townspeople are able to go there to visit. I am grateful that my grandmother enjoys living in this home and never protests about being there. "

"My wife stayed at Arthur Home for 1 night. It was an expensive overnight, but they did well. They had bingo and daytime TV. The food was fine. It was private pay and that was the most expensive option you can get -- which cost a couple hundred dollars -- but it was worth the money."

"I have found Mason Point for my husband. The people are very nice. The rooms and food are fine. They have a TV, telephone, and cable. They provide three meals a day and laundry service. The grounds are very nice with lots of trees and green space. It's adequate, and the price is not bad at all. It's cost-effective. They also take Medicaid. They have a doctor and a podiatrist on staff, plus a hairdresser, an ice cream parlor, and a library. It is nice, but it is a nursing home. "

"My mom moved here. Everything about the community is inviting, friendly, and clean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They treat my mom like family. They have an outdoor area. They have a gym. They have a library. She's a smoker, so she does have access to smoking areas. They have a monthly schedule of activities. I chose it, first and foremost was the location and the small community feel."

"We loved Evergreen Place Decatur. It would be closer to where I want to shop. The staff was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information. I think my husband would have picked that one. They've made arrangements with the hotel next to them so that their people could go there and swim. That's the one thing he misses. We're interested in the one-bedroom."

"We have selected Evergreen Place Supportive Living. We have eaten there, and it’s good. For my parents, it’s a 1-bedroom that 2 people can live. They have studio rooms, but that’s just for 1 person. Their room is adequate. They had lived in a very good size home for over 50 years, so it’s a stepdown for them, but it seems to be working out. My parents have lived there for at least 3 weeks, and we haven’t had any problems. They have 3 levels of things that they offer, and my parents are in the middle offering. They still can do their own laundry, but they do offer a complete laundry service if you want. So far, they have elected not to do that. Otherwise, it’s good. "

"Tanglewood Village was good. The rooms were fine, clean, acceptable, and adequate in size. The kitchenette was comparable to the one I saw at the other place. The staff there was the most pleasant of the three centers I visited."

"Imboden Creek Living Center is wonderful. The staff is outstanding. There are a lot of daily activities. The on-staff doctor is wonderful. As far as nursing homes go, it's probably one of the best. The food is very good and it's home-cooked. They have crafts everyday, bingo, exercises, church services, music, cookouts, entertainment, and different themed days. There's something to do every day. I have no complaints."

"CHELP is a wonderful Senior Home Care Agency in Decatur Illinois! We had them help with the care of my Grandma's house care and shopping needs due to her not being able to get out and not being able to do them on her own. CHELP tends to hire workers go that go above and beyond what their job entitles them to do. My Grandma had one worker that became friends with the family and was very special to us. As her health began to fail we had to rely on them more and we were always very happy. They never complained about having to go to the store when it was really cold or really hot or doing laundry or anything. Once we put her in an assisted living facility and no longer needed their services there was a couple of workers that kept in touch with us and her. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for Senior Home Care to call CHELP. "
