The staff at Avalon Healthcare Center was rude. The food was no good. The rooms were very little and were not kept very well. The surroundings are not very nice.

Last year I went to visit an older relative of mine in this facility. For a facility that accepts Medicaid, it was pretty nice. The activity director was very nice and you could tell that she really cared about her residents. It is an older facility though and it has window units through out instead of central AC, but the temperature was still kept to a nice temperature in all parts that I visited. It is not a very large home, so it is pretty easy for the residents to find their way around without getting lost too much. They have "shower teams" to bathe the residents that are not able to self bathe which was nice, because the other CNAs were not over worked trying to do basic care along with the bathing. They had a really nice dining area where the residents could pick from a menu so that they still felt like they had some control and it felt more like a restaurant than a nursing home.
