"We went to Seagrass Village of Fleming Island and the person who was showing us around there didn't know very much. She had to go and get information because she didn't have it in her head, so she had to go look it up, and it had to do with pricing. It was expensive. It wasn't as nice as the other place. It sounded good on paper, but when we were there, nobody seemed very happy to be there. We were able to see the rooms where the activities took place and that looked very interesting. I was pretty impressed with the activities rooms at that place. I thought that was kind of the highlight. They had a room where they did watercolor paintings and they had some of them on display. I didn't think that the salesperson there knew the place very well. My friend and I both thought that she was in pain part of the time that she was talking to us because she seemed very uncomfortable and that made us uncomfortable just knowing that she was uncomfortable. The apartments were small and they didn't have the closet space that they did at the other place. It just wasn't as nice."

"My mom just called me n thanked me for putting her at frank wells .shr was in a different place n she would cry all the time .it broke my heart .now that she is at frank wells she is so happy .she laughs n she enjoys the groups n nurses .she said i dont have to worry abput her anymore she is well taken care of .i thank God ! "My husband is staying at the Macclenny Nursing and Rehab Center. He was able to be in a private room by the nurse's station. So, they've been very cooperative with us. The physical therapy was good, although he's finished with that now. So, he's transitioning now into long-term. The staff is not trained to deal with dementia and Alzheimer's. I'm having to teach them how to deal with him. But then they've been very willing to listen to my suggestions. They have some crafts. They have karaoke. But we don't go to any of the activities because my husband can't deal with the crowd"

"My mother has been in Cecil Pines for five years now. It is very quiet, but there are no facilities, no eating, and no delivery. There is a kitchen, people cook, and some residents still even work. It is definitely independent, so it is not for anybody that needs any kind of help. She is in a three-bedroom house. It used to be military housing and now it is owned by Cecil Pines, so it is just a regular house. They have some activities, but my mom doesn't participate in any of them. They don't have any 24-hour staff at all, no weekends, and not after 5 o'clock. There is a lot they can add to their services, but when you go there, you know that you are independent. So for them, they are meeting what they said they would do. But then, when the person gets more to where he can't be independent, he just needs to move out of there. "

"The people were really friendly at Heartland Health Care Center. Their rooms are nice and clean. It has a friendly atmosphere, and it is very clean as well. They have very helpful assistants. "

"My mom has been placed at West Jacksonville Health. At that time when we were looking for a facility, they were primarily available. They were able to show us that they are very caring. The facility is close to our home and it really worked out for us. The place is very welcoming and always clean. It's very nice and I'm very satisfied with all the medical and other care that she is getting. The staff are very nice and they are good with what they do. Mom is in a room for two and it's pretty good for her. She is happy with the food. The dining area is big and it opens out to a screened porch, it's very nice and appealing. With their activities, they have the normal stuff like bingo, entertainment, religious services; pretty varied. "

"My husband stayed at Middleburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. It was OK, and I can't say anything bad about it. It's a clean place and there's no odors. They provide good care and have good food. They have a food serving area right in the middle of the facility. You could smell the food all over. The kitchen was there, too. They also had a nice activity room. I think that was a new facility, too, and everything was in good shape and very modern. The staff was fine. He was there for physical therapy, but he was getting sick from high calcium in his body, so his rehab didn't have any effect on him while he was there. He just couldn't do it because he was too weak and too sick. When they found out the level of his calcium, they immediately took him to the ER."

"My husband moved into Silver Treasures at Lane three weeks ago. I chose it because they just opened. It's a new community and they are keeping the price very low. I am paying from my own pocket and it was a more reasonable price for me plus this is a very new place and there are not a lot of people there yet. They built it and started to fill it with people. And it's very good service there. I tell the truth, I was surprised. It's a studio or one-bedroom, the price is the same. My husband's is like two small rooms and like one room and another room, and the price for all the parts is the same if you have one big room or two smaller rooms. You must bring all your furniture and everything there. They have a lot of staff because everyone from the manager and his family is from the Philippines. This is good for my husband."

"I toured Melissa Grove Apartments. I liked the cleanliness, the hospitality, the attentiveness of the staff, the security, as well as the availability of community space. They were very accommodating and very knowledgeable. They were top-notch."

"We toured a 55 and over independent community called Marcis Pointe in Jacksonville. It's very nice and very clean. I talked to several people who live there, and they like it. They've been there for several years. They have activities and a nice pool, which was not open because it was a little bit too cold to swim still. The staff is very nice and professional. It's all positive. The only problems are the rent and the location because it's located in a terrible area. Of course, they have armed guards in there to be sure it's safe."

"The person who accommodated us was great. She was the reason that we really considered it. She was really helpful and really nice. The rooms were small, and they had no private rooms. They even had rooms with four people in them. My husband would start out in a room with two other people, but she said that when one comes available with only one other person, she would move him. They take them outdoors and fishing sometimes. They had a dining room, and the residents seemed happy enough. Signature was recommended to me, and once we get him there and if it was working for him, I would recommend it. "
