"I toured Risen Son Christian Village. It's a beautiful facility but it just seemed a little institutionalized. It just didn't feel as comfortable and homey but it's a beautiful facility. Out of everybody in town, they have the nicest facility but you have to have the right surroundings so that people can feel comfortable and heal up. I talked to the admissions lady and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. She answered all my questions truthfully. I saw their cafeteria."

"I was happy with the staff at Immanuel Village. They were very caring to my mother and when the COVID hit, they were very careful and they did their best to keep COVID out of there. There's one or two cases, but they did a very good and valiant job at that. The only thing about it was the activities shut down when COVID got here, and they didn't have memory care that I knew about, that's why we moved her elsewhere. Their food was outstanding, and before COVID came, they had at least two or three activities a day. They brought in music bands, and they had a lot of stuff going on, so they were good."

"Pacific Springs' memory care unit is brand new. They have assisted living and independent living, but they have just opened their memory support unit in September, and it's quite small. They have six residents right now, and then sometime later this month they're going to have another six openings. They're only accepting the patients as they have staff, so you can be sure that they're going to get really good care. It is new and very clean. The staff members are very well trained. They are excellent. The staff was very professional and well-informed. The facility was very well equipped, very safe, very light, airy, and just clean. It was really good. They do have a lovely patio, courtyard area, and a jacuzzi tub inside for the patients to use."

"My husband is in Hillcrest Country Estates. So far everything is going well, and he's only been there for two weeks. He was in rehab there, and it was the easiest way to move him. He seemed satisfied. The staff has been helpful. He thought the room was very nice, they had it all fixed, put up pictures, and had it all fixed up for him when we moved him. He's quarantined right now, but they have everything you'd want, they have a gym, a library, they have a big dining room, but none of that stuff is open at this time. He likes the food, and he had the same food when he was in rehab for four or five weeks. He thought it was pretty good. The whole property is pretty large, pretty nice, and it's close to me."

"Longview is in a residential area at the top of the hill. It looks out on distant views of the Missouri River Valley. It is simple in decor, clean, neat, and there are many staff in all the areas. My sister and I went to visit our uncle, an Alzheimer's patient who was in the last stages. He had only been there for a few weeks. Until then he was cared for at home by my aunt, and his children who visited regularly. For the last several months he also attended a day care program for Alzheimer's patients in Council Bluffs, Iowa.He had a lovely room with a view when he first checked in at Longview. Soon it was clear that he needed constant attention, and was moved to a double room near the nurse's station and a few steps from the common room where there were chairs, tables, a tv and a view of birds at a bird feeder outdoors. This was where he spent the day.When my sister and I arrived he was still "asleep" which was unusual. It turned out that his condition was changing, and they brought in a nurse who asked us to come into the room if we wanted to be with him while he was being examined. I noticed how gentle she was with him, and how she explained to him everything that she was going to do and why as she approached him with examining equipment. He was struggling for breath, so she adjusted his oxygen supply. She left the room and returned to say that the immediate family had been called in, because he had moved into the last phase of leaving the world. We sat next to him and at the foot of his bed, talking gently to him and singing until my aunt and cousins arrived. We were so happy to be there when his condition turned, and to be present during the examination, and be able to reassure him as we waited for his darling wife, our aunt. The family was by his side every minute for the next two days. He was peaceful and able to receive love. The staff was sensitive and took positive steps for the family to be together at this important time. "
