"I toured Rosegate Commons, and they were very nice. I got to meet with some of the residents, and we had lunch with a couple of them and just got a little feel for the place, and it was very homey. If I go into independent living and need help later on, then I'm already there, so it makes it easier for my family, too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, and I was very impressed with the facility."

"I went to Otterbein SeniorLife Franklin. It was very nice. I can't say anything less about it. They were very, very good there. They take really good care of their patients. The rooms were clean. The patients were well taken care of. The staff was very attentive to the patients. I saw the dining room, and it was very nice and welcoming. The rooms were nice. For one person, they were comfortable. They were playing bingo and things like that with the residents, so that was nice."

"The people at Five Star Residences of Banta Pointe are very welcoming. My mother loves living there. The sales manager went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The business manager has been very helpful. The lady who mans the front desk is very informative. They have answered all my questions. They come and get my mom and make sure that she's introduced to all the different things they have going on there. She loves the food. I've eaten there myself, and it's great food. I have no complaints. It's always clean, and there's relatively no smell ever. They have lots of different activities. She's getting involved in doing things she never did at home. She's exercising, she's playing bingo, and she's learned new games. She's very active. I think the value is excellent. I'm not upset at all about what we're paying for her care."

"Compass Park Indiana Masonic Home was a beautiful campus. It had large open spaces, a lot of new buildings, and newly renovated buildings. That to me is the cream of the crop. The staff was very friendly, very concerned, and almost like family to the residents. They had all kinds of activities down there. They've got many trips off- campus for the residents, they have a medical facility on site, regular group outings, football nights in the lounge, a pub where people gather to watch baseball games, and huge beautiful dining rooms. The food was amazing. They cater to the individual if there are special dietary needs. They make sure that the kitchen staff is aware of them and prepares special meals just for them. I had a friend there that was gluten intolerant and they had their onsite bakery staff make him a gluten-free birthday cake and that was the first time he's had a birthday cake in many, many years. He loved it. They have assisted living, full-time nursing medical center, independent housing, and individual homes and cottages on the campus that get the same benefits as the residents in the assisted living. It's a wonderful place, and it's less expensive than a lot of the facilities that are in Northwest Indiana where I live. It's highly recommended because of the atmosphere of being a family there and their focus on the residents."

"My sister has moved to Summit Place West. Everybody there is very friendly. The people who accommodated me were very caring and helpful. Even the residents were helpful. The place is quiet, peaceful, and comfortable. It's a bit isolated, but it's nice and clean. She's living on their independent living side. She's in a house that looks like a little cottage. It's nice, but I think it also costs way too much."

"Park Square Manor is an awesome place. When I moved in, I was grieving. I lost my husband but the people here are wonderful. The staff is wonderful. I live in a studio apartment, but they also have one- bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments. Anything that you would look for, it's wonderful. They give you food and everything's furnished. The apple pork loin is delicious. They have bingo and dirty poker. So, it's really fun. We just had a fall festival yesterday and it was wonderful. We had music come in that played for the people. We have Bible study on Thursday and church on Sunday. Dirty Poker is only on Friday and then on Wednesday, we all gather and have drinks. Then they have people come in and talk to us and entertain us. It's wonderful. For the most part, the food is pretty good. They just hired a new cook on staff. So, things are getting better and better each day. I truly believe it's a wonderful place. They are caring, loving, and kind. You get the word of God, too. You just get a little bit of everything. I think everything that you get is worth it. It's just getting out of my budget."

"Meadowood was exceptional. It was very friendly, very family-like, very warm, welcoming, and very active. They served exceptional food, and the dining area looked elegant. The staff who gave me the tour was helpful. I saw residents putting together puzzles, some were playing pool, and some were going shopping. They had an exercise class going on, and there were residents reading books and newspapers. The outdoor areas were very green, very friendly, and very clean, with lots of walkways, ponds with fountains, and benches to sit on."

"We toured Robin Run Village. What we liked about it was that they had independent living, and the apartments were perfect in every way, and the friendliness of the staff and the helpfulness of some of the residents were amazing. All the appliances are there. You get the refrigerator, stove, and if you need a microwave, you have to bring your own microwave. The person who gave the tour did an excellent job. They serve meals. It's three meals if you want to pay more for the third meal, because they only provide breakfast and dinner. We'd been driving by it before we even went, and it was always immaculate."

I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is needing a little tlc. My friend lived there for years, I am so glad they have rebuilt after that fire. "

"My grandmother lived in the Assisted Living Community at Asbury Towers in Greencastle, In., while recovering from a hip fracture. The facility is beautiful, the nurses are amazing, and they even have an Aviary with lots of colorful birds for the residents! The food was amazing, I ate with my grandmother a few times while visiting, and I wanted to stay! The nurses were very attentive, and developed relationships with the residents, which was nice. My Grandmother talked a lot about the nurse who would bring her new baby granddaughter to visit the residents. The care she got at Asbury was excellent, and I would definitely recommend checking into Asbury if you have a relative in need of care in the Greencastle area. "Hoosier Village was a real ritzy place. The cottages were all taken up and had a waiting list, so we saw independent apartment living and it was not a high rise, but there were elevators and stairs and not all on one level. It had lots of acreages. It's huge, and it had a gated entrance. They had a very high-priced program where you invest a bunch of money in and then you have to pay your monthly dues, too. You got a lot and you're paying a lot. They had a lobby that looked out of this world. They pushed that it was nonprofit and that's why it's so much better than the others, but it wasn't for us because that was a lot of money and a lot of ritzy living that we didn't need. The rooms could turn into assisted living if needed. The food was out of this world. They had everything you would want, buses to go wherever, trips, and activities. They had different dining rooms, and they had a community garden. You had to take a little bus to go to the community garden, that's how big the grounds were. It was in touch with nature, which I liked, but it was too ritzy for us."

"Marquette is a lovely place. It's got exceptional independent living apartments that we're very much interested in. It has an exceptional swimming pool and exercise facility. The ground space is adequate, not crowded, but not as open spacing as I would like to live in. There's been follow-up, and the staff has been cooperative and patient with us in our attempts to return. They're agreeable to us going there for an overnight stay to get the full feel of the community. The food was not the best that we had tasted, but we haven't eaten in the main dining room and are hoping to go back for an overnight stay to do that. The facility was very elegant and well kept, and they had terrific underground parking. That's an outstanding feature that is lacking in all the other places we looked at."
