The Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities Communities in Palm Beach County, FL

"My mother and her husband have not yet used the assisted-living facilities in this community, as they are still in independent living (at 87 and 95 respectively!). But my mother fell during a group walk, and they insisted on her getting care. She probably would have ignored it on her own. The scan uncovered some stuff (misdiagnosed at Kennedy Hospital, but that is not the fault of Via, Florida medical care is pretty terrible) that she wouldn't have found otherwise. The facility is well-appointed and the service level is high. Worth the money, in my opinion. "

"I had an appointment and I went there for a visit. I liked the atmosphere because it was welcoming and it did not feel restrictive. It was open and quiet. I thought it was more elegant that's why it also cost more. The apartments were smaller but the appeal visually was better. The grounds and location were appealing. I have not tasted the food but everybody seemed to eat it up and happy. There were also activities and I was more comfortable there. I'd consider living there if they would accept me. For me, the care that the person received depends on the involvement of the family and knowledge of what's going on."

"I have moved into independent living at Harbours Edge, and my experience has been very positive. It is a community that has gone through a $20M plus renovation, and the renovation has been hard on people because it went on for a long time and has caused some confusion, but the end result is lovely. It is an outstanding staff both in terms of skill sets and interpersonal skills. I have a large 1-bedroom, a very large living room, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a second powder room is also included. I liked it very much. I participated in many activities from entertainment to games playing and trips off campus as well as on campus."

"Devonshire is gorgeous. My big objection to it is that it’s in the middle of nowhere. It’s in a golfing community that includes clubhouse membership, and a golf course membership; which, I don’t even care about. The rooms were fine. This is the crème de la crème, and it’s like a super-wealthy resident constituency. It’s hard to find. The staff was wonderful. I stayed overnight, and the food was excellent. It’s got everything. It’s like a colony in the middle of nowhere. "

"St. Andrews Estates was very nice, clean, and homey. It was little less institutional, bigger, and spread out more. The people were super nice. I passed a really nice gym. They had a huge bulletin board with all of the activities. It looked like there was something going on every night, like movies. On Saturdays, there was a group going to the opera."
