My grandmother was one of the first people to move into this brand new facility. We moved her there because it was closer to home. It allowed us to visit her more often. She had a private room and it was very nice. The facility itself is beutiful. Everything is brand new and it really felt kind of homey. I knew some of the people that worked there, which it made it nice knowing that people that worked there cared. However, there were a few instances that really were upsetting. The CNA's were rude and really lacked patience and compassion for the elderly. They really just saw it is a paycheck. My grandmother had a sound mind but was unable to communicate. She knew everything going on around her. She was very frail and had to be lifted in and out of her bed, wheelchair, etc. She was totally dependent. One afternoon she was upset because they had left her on the toilet for hours. She pulled the cord for help and was ignored. I also noticed other people being ignored while I was there to visit. My grandmother needed to be fed, and most of the time one of the family members would go over at meal time to feed her. This was not exptected of us, but we liked to do it. If no one was there, the staff fed her. A few times we would walk in and a plate of cold food would be sitting in front of my grandmother. I often wonder if they ever actually fed her. I know alot of times they would say that they couldn't get her to eat, I wonder if that is what they told the family when they didn't feel like feeding her. She only weighed between 75 and 80 pounds. The reason that this facility only receives 3 stars is because of the lack of general compassion. Otherwise, the facility is welcoming and clean.
