"I felt it was a nice and clean place. It had a lot of different amenities to offer. The people were very nice. It had a pool. They had two meals a day. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. They had arts, different games, a theater, and people that come in to teach piano. It was a pretty building."

"St. Martin's in the Pines was nice, but the only part I didn't like was that we waited about 20 or 25 minutes for somebody to tour. The lady kept calling somebody. She said she didn't know anything about it, and nobody told her anything. When they found someone to tour us, that person showed us the laundry room, the kitchen area, and the apartment. We went all the way around. He also showed the library, the laundry room, the kitchen where you eat, the apartment, and the chapel. They have one bedroom and two bedrooms (I was interested in one bedroom). The outside area has dumpsters out there, though. They had garbage on the ground and stuff. They can keep that area a little bit cleaner."

"I visited Covenant Place of Gardendale. They were wonderful. The guy that I met with was the nicest human being I've ever met. He walked me through everything, told me everything, how they handled Covid, and how they handled the people. He knew what I wanted, and he was very attentive to everything that I asked and was very kind and considerate, as were all the people. Even the people on the virtual tour were all nice, too, very helpful, and answered a lot of questions. I wouldn't hesitate to have put my mother-in-law there if it hadn't been so expensive. I talked to the people that assist the residents there, the lady who provided medicines, and the lady who provided the activities. Every single person was fabulous. The facility was beautiful. The outside, the flowers, the garden, and the places where the people could go and see it were just gorgeous. They kept it up well. It looked very clean. I was completely impressed. They showed me a weekly menu and everything was good and the guy even told me that all the people love the food. They had painting, singing, and exercising. They said they would take them on outings."

"I’m at North River Village. It’s very nice, very pleasant, and very efficient. I think the rooms are adequate. They have a variation of sizes of rooms. Some of the facilities here have 2 rooms; some have just one. Some have a screened porch; others do not, so it’s a variety so that a person could find what they prefer. They have a fitness center. I’d recommend that they come and take the tour to see the community, partake in the meal, and make their decision based on whether or not they want to be in a place that has the care levels arrangement. "

My concerns were immediately recognized and through no fault of personal at the oaks were resolved. The staff at the oaks are not only kind and patient and engaging with their residents but also to the families of the residents. It is a beautiful and warm environment in which to live. 5 stars for sure. "

"My mother-in-law was in Self Nursing Home for rehab for 31 days, and they were really nice to her. The staff was very nice. The food was like hospital food, but it was OK. "

"There was no designated person that gave tours on the day we visited Truewood by Merrill, Riverchase, but they still accommodated us, which we appreciated. They did not have a single room available. All they had were companion rooms. The windows looked out on the parking lot, so they did not have sunny areas inside, but they had an enclosed courtyard that was sunny, bright, and had benches to sit on. That was open for residents to go out there on their own."

"I think The Bungalows at Riverchase assisted living was perfect for my mother. It was very personable, they could all decorate their doors individually, and it was really good. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. The facilities were beautiful but it's expensive. They have a salon, game nights, and they have good entertainment. They have a beauty parlor and laundry too."

"Mount Royal Towers has good options and one of the very few that has a private room for long-term care patients. I had a good experience with the care planning and with the nursing staff coordinating services with Brookwood Medical Center. My father eats in his room, and he doesn't eat regular meals, but what he needs is provided. His room is good sized and has a private bathroom. I don't have any concerns about the safety because they inspect him often, and he is in bed all the time with the rails up. "

"Alzheimer's is a wicked enemy. A vibrant successful woman stripped of memory now no longer able to speak. An active hiker in her prime her 92 year old body continues. My mother goes daily to the Adult Day Care where dear loving workers and patients stroke her hands to make her feel supported. Art, music, and physical activities are provided as well as a good lunch. Without it what would I do? "
