"I was impressed with Country Cottage - Russellville. That place was really good. It was clean. They're all the time doing activities with the residents. They had an activity director. It was a lot better for the money. The staff were all very friendly when you went in. They offer a lot of different activities. The ones that are able, they take them out shopping and stuff, and so I thought that was nice. They have a salon. In terms of locations, they have a lot more restaurants within a half mile to a mile, and the hospital is maybe three-quarters of a mile. However, if we moved my mother to Country Cottage, and in six months, she needed more care, then we would have to go to Florence and that's just too far for us."

"Limestone was an older facility, but it was clean and nice. The staff was nice and helpful; they play games and sing with the residents. "

"We toured this facility while searching for a good place to care for my elderly uncle. A friend of his was already there as a resident and thought it would make him more comfortable to be with someone he was familiar with. Upon arriving, this facility struck me as being very clean and sanitary. The staff was friendly and competent and the residents seemed to like the staff as well. I noted that while there wasn't a great long list of entertainment for residents, there's enough to do to keep them occupied and comfortable. The rooms for the residents are average size and seemingly kept clean. Meals looked home cooked and it was nice to residents gathering at the tables for their meal with help from staff and other residents. The facility setting overall was very calming and relaxed. While we didn't put my uncle here because of the distance from us and other family members, I think it would be wonderful place for someone to be at. With the thoughts of the staff, cleanliness, and overall environment of the facility, I would recommend this place to others seeking assisted living for their loved one. "

"We moved my mother to The Goldton at Athens. We like the appearance of the community when you go in and the friendliness of the employees. We like the interaction among the residents and it seems that they enjoy being there. It is just a very comfortable feeling. The layout of their studio apartment is very spacious, with lots of closet space. Mom is still figuring things out since she's just been there for a couple of days, so she hasn't gone to the activities yet. The food has been very good. They have an exercise area with several pieces of equipment. They have a craft room, a bistro area, a nice salon area, and a nice area for doing puzzles."

"I have spent over 75 volunteer hours at Columbia Cottage. This included helping any of the residents in any of their daily activities, cleaning, caring for the residents, bringing food, etc. Columbia Cottage I felt was a very nice facility for assisted living. It is very spacious and has a great feeling of a home about it. It does not seem like you are in a hospital or enclosed space. The staff there was great. Everyone that I was in contact with while I was volunteering there were great. The organization of how everything ran was very good. The food and the dining area could have used improvement, that is why I only gave this a four star review. It is nice, but seems more like a place where people come in and sit and have to leave. It doesn't have the feel of a nice sit down place to eat. All in all Columbia Cottage is a wonderful assisted living facility in my personal opinion. "

"We like that the nursing staff at NHC Healthcare. They are very caring and communicate with us about mom's care. The support staff, physical and occupational therapists and the social worker that works with her are on top of things. They are very good in working with her and with us. Any issues that come up they are very prompt about contacting us. She seems to really like the food and she is eating well. "

"We went to Westminster Assisted Living and Memory Care of Decatur. It was very good, and it's a very nice, clean place. The staff was very friendly. It was very nice. The staff who assisted us was very nice, very accommodating, and answered all our questions. The room is a studio room. Once you see the furniture in there, it's bigger than you think. There is room for the bed, dresser, chest drawer, and the chairs. There's a large bathroom and a large closet. The facility itself is decorated very nicely and clean. It's very nice. The dining room was very nice. It looked like a restaurant."

"I found this facility lacking in medical attention given my mother. I found that the physician only came around once per week and was never available for the family to consult with. I found that, although my mom was one week from death and coughing continually from kidney failure, the staff made no effort to see that she got the proper medical care. I had to make the call which was too late. I was depending on the nurses to know what her problem was and get her treatment. They said no, I was the one who determines if she needs hospital care. What are the trained nurses role here? "

"I've visited this facility with my friend who has an elderly mother staying there. the facility seems very clean and a staff seems very friendly. I also noticed the grounds were very well kept and the facilities facade was very well kept also. My friend's mother seems very well cared for and seem to be quite content. I was told that they had activities and religious services also. My friend's mother had quite a few friends there several including the staff. It was a very peaceful environment and we mostly sat in the common room. There were other people there visiting family members and there seemed to be no negative issues between those individuals and the staff either. if I were an elderly person I would enjoy staying in a place like this if I had to. I would feel very safe. My friend's mother also commented on the food served as we had come to visit right after lunch. She said that she had had a tuna fish sandwich and a small bowl of soup Andy's items are very delicious and very well made. They also serve her decaffeinated coffee with sugar and cream at her request. Also she commented on the various activities available sections bingo and movie night. Over all I would give this facility a 5 star rating. I just can't comment enough on how friendly the staff was and how content everyone seem to be. Also it did not have that strange in order of cleaning supplies you would find in many places such as hospitals and the like. I personally I would recommend this facility to anyone with an elderly member of the family in need of care. "

"Morningside of Decatur is an assisted living facility, and it's a beautiful place. It’s great. The woman we had talked to was very nice, but we are not ready for assisted living yet. We were there at lunch time, and the food was great. "

"My mom went to Terrace Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Inc. She was well taken care of and well-fed. The staff and the management were great. The only thing I had seen was bingo, but they had a lot of activities that went on. My mom shared a room with another lady and then that lady left, so she was by herself. It was nice and clean. I had seen their meals and they looked very good. They had a physical therapy room, a dining area, and a TV room. The main manager was awesome and sweet. She's a great person."

"My wife moved into Brentwood Retirement Community. I chose it because they were super nice and they would provide what she needs. They serve 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Everyone there is friendly and as nice as they can be. Her room is super nice. They came in, ultra-cleaned it and painted the walls. They have exercises, singing activities, games, puzzles, and entertainment. They sent me pictures yesterday of a cookout they had and she seemed to be having a great time."

"Cypress Cove Care Center is closer to our home. It's a nice facility. It seems like they take care of the patients. It's clean and kept up nicely. My mother-in-law is in rehab there now. The staff seems nice and caring. She seems to like them. To me, from what I've seen, the food looks good. But she's kind of a picky eater, and she doesn't eat a lot. Right now, my mother-in-law is in rehab, so she is not able to do anything, but they take them out to the mall, they have games to play there, they have a movie night where they go into the dining room, and they have movies and have popcorn, stuff like that. It seems like they have different activities that they do. They have a salon. They have a lady that comes in twice a week, and they get their hair cut or put a conditioner in. My mother-in-law is supposed to get a haircut last Wednesday, but the lady didn't come."
