"Ozark Health and Rehabilitation is very clean and laid-out well and doesn't smell like a nursing home. They seem to really work to find out ways to help me, such as pureeing my dad's food because he has a swallowing problem. There were plenty of activities for the residents. And the staff has been very kind, and everything we've asked they've done everything. In terms of value, the cost is a whole lot of money."

"We moved my mom into Wynnwood Oaks. They're wonderful. I have interacted with the owner. They just have been tremendously good. What I liked most about it was Francine. She oversees it during the day. She was very helpful when we got Mom in there and transitioned her. She's been very caring and helpful ever since. When I need to do something for Mom, or help her out in the room, Francine is as helpful as she can be. Overall, it's been a real blessing to have Mom there. It's two buildings, and they're long. At one end, there's what I would call a recreation room. It's basically a big TV and a table with some chairs. It's got a VCR so you can play movies there. There's a nice dining facility that's not quite all the way at the end. They even have a piano in there, and some handbooks for people who want to sing Christian music. It's really wonderful. I'm a little bit more than 69 right now. If I'm still alive, and I need assisted living, that's where I'm going. It's very clean and very well done. I couldn't ask for more. It's perfect. The value for the money is excellent. It's about half the cost of some of the other places where a person has to have greater assistance."

"My dad is in Enterprise, and we're not happy with the way they treat him. They just roll my dad out of his room into the nurses' station and leave him there. When it's time to eat, they just roll him over to his table, and that's it. He fell out of bed a couple of times, the bed alarm didn't go off, and the nurses found him on the floor. I know they had groups that come for entertainment, and they had church activities. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. "

"My aunt is in Madison Heights. It was described to me as a halfway place between assisted living and nursing home for someone who has dementia and Alzheimer's. She's not ready for the nursing home because she can still take care of herself (personal care), but her mind is not there like it used to be. When I talked to the lady on the phone, she said this is kind of a halfway place and my aunt came from a geriatric psych ward in another town. I was told in the process of looking that sometimes that puts other places off (when they're looking at accepting new residents if they come from a geriatric psych unit), but this lady said that's the kind of client that they are kind of good at (someone who's coming from assisted living). The people are extremely helpful and cooperative. You get the impression that they care about the person that you have put there and they're working with you to make that person more comfortable and accommodate their needs. They kind of make the institution fit the person as opposed to the person fitting the institution, which is especially good because my aunt is very independent and has lived independently all her life. I have not tasted the food, but my aunt reports that it's good. They have an enclosed courtyard, which was important to me. They provide television and cable. They will also let you do your own thing there if you want to. You have to pay for it, but they'll allow you to do a different cable or direct TV or whatever. We are getting what we pay for. It is just a tad expensive."

"Whitehall is a beautiful facility and my dad lived there before. They didn’t have the nursing care that he needed. The nurse on duty was not that observant that my dad had congestive heart failure. Whitehall is good for people that are still independent and would just need somebody to prepare their meals for them. They have good housekeeping. "

"I was a resident of Grand South Senior Living. The facility is very new, and they've taken advantage of lessons learned over the years that elderly and disabled people need. The room was about the same as the one I have now. It had the perfect amount of room for anyone. So, I had a studio apartment there. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It was a good place. They offer exercise classes, bingo, crafts, and cooking classes. We've had concerts from local groups. The dining area was clean, with plenty of room, and tables arranged in sizes from holding three or four people to seven or eight people, so you could have a little variety in how many people you're sitting with."

"The facility is ultra clean and there is never a bad scent -- a great accomplishment I must say. The management and business staff and the receptionists are the nicest people you will ever meet. The rehab staff is super. The nursing staff, is, for the main part, very good, although there are a few nurses aides who seem to hate their jobs and are a bit grumpy, but there are not many of those. Whomever is in charge of activities does a commendable job as there are always special events for the residents. There are not that many amenities, but really most residents seem happy with what there is. I consider Westside Terrace the best in Dothan, and, probably in the entire area. There is ONLY one very valid complaint but it is so important. THE FOOD! I cannot believe that the food is so horrible that one would not believe it unless they saw it and tasted it. I would think that whomever is in charge of this facility would realize that food is one of the few things residents have to really enjoy. It is a scandal how truly awful the food is. Until they improve the food, I cannot imagine anyone giving this facility 5 stars and it is a pity, as the people working there are so very nice. IMPROVE THE FOOD! NO ONE CAN EAT WHAT IS PREPARED. IT IS COLD WHEN SERVED. IT IS USUALLY TASTELESS OR IF IT HAS ANY TASTE IT IS SO BAD THE PERSON EATING REALLY WANTS TO SPIT IT OUT. I believe that the only reason anyone eats the food in this facility is simply to keep from starving. Please, someone take note of this and do something to improve the food for these poor residents."

"Mom was at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. The care was very personal. I had no doubts that they were taking good care of mom all the time because the nurses and the aides were very hands-on. They treated everyone like they were family. So, I was very pleased with the care and the treatment she got there. She got all the attention she needed. They went through a chef change after she arrived and the new chef was fabulous. The times that I ate with her, I enjoyed the food very much. The place was very clean. It did not smell like a nursing home or a place for sick people. They also have a skilled nursing wing and even that area was very clean and odor-free. She loved to play bingo and card games, too. She enjoyed it very much."

"Azalea Court provided excellent care for my mother during her season of need. She was uniquely the youngest and most self-suficent resident as a shoulder surgery followed by depression had rendered her to a state in which she could not care for herself. In the 18 months she resided there, she slowly put on 25 much needed pounds and regained an interest in life again. She became friends with many of the residents and workers. I believe the relationships coupled with good, home-cooked meals led to her being able to return to an independent lifestyle. The staff genuinely cared for her. They celebrated the success of her grandchildren, prayed with her during times of need and catered to her every need. I think her only real complaint was getting locked out when she stayed out too late. This was always resolved with a simple phone call, but it was quite an agitation to my somewhat demanding mother. Without the love and care of Azalea Court, I know my mother would not have made it to celebrate another birthday. "

"The caregivers at this facility are absolutely amazing. They treat my uncle like he is own of their own family members. They continue to advise me on any medical care that is needed or if my uncle is just have a bad day. My uncle can be very verbal and sometimes downright mean. However, these caregivers treat him with the utmost respect and care. I remember one time he was having a fit and swinging his arms. He accidently hit one of the caregivers. She spoke softly and kind to him the entire time. She was awesome. Even when I apologized for his behavior, she told me not to worry about it. She stated my uncle has his bad days but his good ones outweigh them. Such compassion. They continue to care for my uncle and ensure that he has social time with many of his friends that have also made their home there. I know that my uncle is in capable hands at Hartford Health Care and I am extremely grateful for their service and care. "

"I had a client that was looking for a home that did not have alot of fire deficiencies because they were in a home before that caught fire in the middle of the night and burned a few of the units. Well, when I went here, I see from the reports that the exits are always accessible, there are no smoking signs all around, they have full sprinkler systems and they even give fire safety drills on a regular. My client was happy with the reports and placed their loved one with Henry County. "

"My great-aunt became a resident of Twin Magnolias Assisted Living. While looking for the facility that was the right choice for her, we toured Twin Magnolias. Eventually, we settled on this facility for my great-aunt due to its level of attention and care, as well as its familiar grounds for her, as she is from that town and has lived there for her entire life. The facility is very close to multiple doctors' offices, as well as a pharmacy and two grocery stores, so we could easily run errands for her when she needs help. There are staff members on hand to serve the residents' needs around the clock, and there is an emergency service vehicle station nearby in case someone needs to go to the hospital. Hospitals are not in the same town, but they are not far away, which was another reason for picking this place. The grounds and housing are not fancy, but they are clean and seem easy to find your way around, for patients with mental difficulties. My great-aunt's mind is not as strong as it was a few years ago, so this is a big plus for her. "

"Wiregrass offered a lot more for their residents, they had a glassed-in sunroom, and they had a garden where there's a fountain in the center. You can go eat out there and spend time with your family and friends. They had community activities, church services, and people that come in and sing. "
