We had a terrible experience with this company. I could go on and on but the most horrifying moment was trying to get a nurse when my mom started to get anxiety before she died. There is no overnight nurse in Denton. They come from Fort Worth. Mom suffered in fear for several hours before they showed up and then it took several more hours to get the medication to calm her down. One of the nurses started to lecture me about various religions and scorned the muslim faith. One nurse talked about mom's fatal condition in front of her which was inappropriate too. His description of her was terrible. The only good thing about this company is the assisted nursing care that came every day to clean her. When the Chaplin came he was great at helping us deal with the final moments and the aftermath but over all I would call this a company neglectful. They did not properly prepare us for the responsibilities we were taking on. The nurse was telling me to expect her to last till the end of the week just as mom took her final breath. Lack of experience, sensitivity, and knowledge sums up our experience with them. It's difficult to watch the dying process especially when the support system is negligent.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY If you want care for your loved one choose another company. They do not have the care as promised because they are short handed (I have heard this from everyone I spoke to on the phone asking for help) we have ran out of medicine, every nurses has undone what previous nurse did. It's been a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE with this company. And you can forget getting a nurse to you in under 5 hours. It's always same excuse, we are short staffed. I seriously expected more from a Hospice company, this one would be the LAST one I would put my loved one on.

Run don’t walk My family was talked into putting my grandmother on hospice a few months ago wile she was in the hospital. We chose Vitas after a previous short experience. We did this being told that my grandmother would have 2-4 months to live and let’s just say it was all down hill from there. They came out took her off most of her meds Then got rid of all her doctors for theirs to “ make it easier the problem is she’s seen one in 3 months and then we found out the best part she had a nurse come out sick and gave her a upper respiratory infection when she has COPD turned blue after spending over 2 hours trying to get ahold of a doctor I was just going to call a ambulance and take her to the hospital and they kept me from calling this has happened 3 times. I’m on here now because I’m looking for a new hospice company. But please a lot more has happened if you love you family member don’t chose VITAS.

My husband is at home with hospice from Vitas. Somebody recommended them to us, and the care is great. If you need them, they are right there. They go straight to the house because he wanted to be home. We have been using it for two months now with no complaints in regard to management and billing.
