Home Hospice Care - Knute Nelson, Alexandria, MN, provided home hospice services for my dad during the last weeks of his life. We chose KN after initially speaking with an intake person of another Home Hospice program - rude, combative, disagreeable. I was stunned and disappointed! I had always believed that the core purpose for the creation and continuing existence of home hospice programs was to help families keep and care for their loved ones at home and to provide professional services and support to those clients as they face the end of life, and to do so professionally, respectfully and compassionately. The professionalism, compassion and assistance I needed was far from the attitude and message put forth during that brief, disheartening phone conversation, It wasn't long, however, before I actually felt thankful for that experience since it led us to Knute Nelson and THEIR Home Hospice program. From my first phone call to Knute Nelson, that first "Hello"from the other, and throughout that initial conversation, the person I spoke to was the epitome of what every family member should expect to encounter when making what is often a very difficult call at a very difficult time. She said all the right things to put me at ease, always keenly aware of and sensitive to my needs, concerns and lack of knowledge on the topic of home hospice care. The whole experience couldn't have gone better and been more different than that first disheartening step into the world of Home Hospice Care....and it only got better from there. In the days that followed, my mother and I met or heard from the individuals who made up Dad's Care Team: the RN, Home Health Aide, Social Worker, Chaplain and Providers of Enrichment Service (Message Therapist and Therapeutic Musicians that are available to KN clients. Knute Nelson also provide on-call nursing assistance 24/7 to ensure that clients and their families are never left on their own to deal with a crisis, problems or just needing advice on how to handle something that comes up just because it happens to arise "after office hours". Dad's RN and Aide, in particular, went above and beyond more than once to be there when we needed them. As the weeks passed, they felt like trusted friends who cared about Dad AND his family. We will be forever grateful to EVERYONE involved in KN's Home Hospice Program, and will never forget how they helped, guided and made those last weeks with Dad the best they could be. Our entire family believes, without a doubt, that Knute Nelson's Home Hospice program must certainly be among the best in the U.S. and only the people within an organization can take it to that level. THANK YOU! did to make Dad's final weeks the best he and his family could have

They have provided me with care and always follow through on providing it. It is a relief to have someone who can come out to help me. They can contact my doctor for me when I need help. I like that they listen to me and answer promptly and follow through.

I'm alive, and they are keeping me able to stay at home and get care that I could not do for myself. They are caring, intelligent, and concerned about my well-being.

She was a nice person. The caregiver was misinformed and the reason the company didn't cover it was because the person was just a companion. That wasn't what we needed. They should have explained the financial services better to us.

The aide only comes one day a week. On the limited time spent she is very positive with Andrew. I like that they're connected in the community and very professional.
