My husband is in Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence and he's doing fine. The staff is incredible. They are amazing. They are changing him, feeding him, making sure he is turned or rotated, keeping him hydrated and taking his medications, and making sure he's calm and comfortable. It's just a beautiful facility. It's clean and beautifully furnished. It's very peaceful, calm, and relaxing. There's no noise. People can rest and relax. Even visitors have plenty of places to sit and talk. There's a patio in the back and a small garden that you can walk around and sit down on. They have people there who make homemade food. Lunch has a couple of different choices. There's a gluten-free menu and a vegan menu, they make homemade cookies every day, and they have coffee and tea. So, the food is very good. I can't imagine any place better. They are caring, considerate, well-trained, educated, and they know exactly what they're doing. They check in with my husband once an hour just to make sure everything's OK. They're always monitoring people. They do have socialization. They have a small dining room where people who are in wheelchairs or are still mobile can meet and have meals together. And they do work on different things. It's a very small facility, so it's not going to have a ton of people. They do have people that can move about and can eat in the dining room and can do what they like to do as far as crafts or reading or something. It is much cheaper than the home care I had and it is worth every penny.
