Hospice By the Bay

We used Hospice by the Bay for my mom. They're amazing. We used them with my grandmother too. They make everything so much better, comforting, and very empathetic. I can't say enough about them. They're just a great organization, and I'm so lucky that we were able to have that service. They assigned you a case nurse. So, one nurse comes weekly to check on her and is there for you 24/7, Monday through Friday. If something happens on the weekends, you call the main number and they will get somebody else to come out. Then they would have a home health aide come out one day a week and bathe her. They have grievance counselors. They have chaplains. They have people there if you need to talk to somebody, like counseling. I didn't have to call them. They checked in with me. For the end of life, it's a nice way for somebody to stay in their home and have that comfort care.

Hospice By the Bay provided excellent, sensitive service while I was caring for my terminally ill wife. They actually offered more services than I felt I needed but they listened and customized the care for our needs. The nurses always called ahead and arrived within the promised time window. Medications were also provided promptly. Following my wife's passing, my daughter and I have taken advantage of their individual and group grief counseling services. Hospice By the Bay has been a fantastic resource and I'm very grateful for their existence.

Hospice by the Bay provided excellent care for my mother. I was made aware of the many services available to her and to our family. The nurses and volunteers were all very professional, caring and loving. They took charge and made sure that my mom had the best of everything. Furthermore, I have a good friend whose husband died. I was at their house every day and witnessed the same level of care for him and his family. I give Hospice by the Bay my highest recommendation.

The hardest thing a family can endure is watching a loved one deteriorate right before your eyes. You feel so lost and so helpless. It was recommended by my cousin that we contact Hospice By The Bay. From the very first meeting to the last hours with my father, we felt like we had real people that truly cared about my father and what we as a family were going through. All we had to do was think out loud and whatever we needed to make my dad comfortable was there within a day. The staff assigned to us became like our family showering us with hugs and reassurance that they would be there for us and they were. Between the nurses, the social workers, massage therapists, spiritual counselors and the volunteers that gave us a much needed break, I don't know how we would have made it through this very stressful and emotional time. The initial interviews with the nurse and social worker for the care of my wife were very reassuring and comforting. I was assured that they would be there for me and that I should call with any problems with her care. Unfortunately when I did need to call I was told a nurse would be coming. She didn't and when I called again at the end of the day, I was told a nurse would be out that evening. She finally showed up at 11 PM. Although the interactions my family had with the caregivers was wonderful when they came, on several occasions we felt unsupported because calls weren't returned or help didn't come.

Hospice By The Bay in Marin County is the premier hospice program for the communities in Marin. When I was the Director of Social Services at a Sub-acute Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) in Marin County Hospice By The Bay was the only agency I would contact to provide confront care services to our patients. The agency has been around since the early 1970's and is the second oldest hospice in the nation, providing a holistic approach to terminal illness and offering supportive services to care providers and love ones. The Hospice By The Bay Team are very professional and compassionate individuals which include; Physician Medical Director, Nursing Staff, Social Workers, Speech Therapist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Spiritual Support Counselors, and Home Health Aides. Again, I can't say enough about this agency. I HIGHLY recommend Hospice By The Bay to any family that are searching for comfort care for their love one.
