My father when he was still living and I worked feverishly to bring my mom home from a nursing home, after I moved in to provide care, and the Agency on Aging worked with us to make it happen. The state pays the caregivers except for me as a relative, and we were able to choose our own employees. The Social worker assigned to Mom's case was not as proactive as we had wished for but it finally occurred and we love the program. The Agency on Aging Recommended my mom go on Medicaid to help her qualify for the in home care and it's been a Godsend. She is so much happier now than she was at the nursing home.
