What I liked best about Highland House is it was close to where my mother currently lives, so she could still maintain in touch with the people in her community. The people there were very kind, helpful, and supportive while we were there. They offer amenities that would suit her. They showed me a small bedroom-type room with a bathroom that was set up for elderly care with the handles and easy accommodations as far as getting in and out. They had a van that would take residents' places. They had a common room where they could play games and sing and do things. There was a hair salon in the facility as well. The staff was very friendly, very helpful, and very open to sharing with us what they had. My mother's biggest concern is moving away from her home and her home community, and this would allow her to be as close as she could be to that area and it's still fairly rural, which she likes. I was impressed that they were able to offer the different amenities that they had. It was nice, but it was small. I've seen nicer facilities in bigger areas where there were more people. This is a very small town, so it's not as luxurious as the other places I've seen.

After visiting a relative several times at this facility, I can attest that her experience was excellent and that the facility fulfilled its role at the highest level. She was happy with her bed and room, she was able to watch television and see the shows that she loved, and the food was much better than I would have expected from an Assisted Living Facility. The medical care provided by Highland House was top notch, and we always felt as if she was receiving the best care possible in her time of need. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in need of one, their staff is friendly and their planned events are a joy and have built a nice little community among the residents.
