My dad is in Truewood by Merrill, Bountiful. What I like the most is that the actual care staff is really good there, and they care about the people. The food is good. It's an average care facility with large, spacious common areas. I would just say that the administrative billing staff needs to focus on transparency and honesty. They have a beauty salon, they have a library, they have a game room, and they have a pool. There are also activities on a regular basis.

I'm at Truewood by Merrill, Bountiful. It's good. You can interact as much as you want or not (you don't have to). I don't eat their meals. I prepare my own food here, so I don't get down and mingle with people as much. Once in a while, I'll go down and eat with them, but not often. The staff is adequate. I don't have a lot of care, so I don't mingle with them. They call me by my name, so they're nice and pleasant. My room is wonderful. The activities are a little bit lacking, but they're improving. It's an old building and it needs a lot of help. It's the most inexpensive I could find, but they've raised my rent, so I don't like that very well. What I paid when I moved in was OK. I have a nice little apartment here, so that's good.

Truewood by Merrill, Bountiful was not as new as the other facility. They were in the middle of a remodeling phase. It was okay, but it looked kind of rundown. I didn't like the idea that my dad would have to pay extra if he wanted a meal plan. But the little director, whoever I talked with, I iked her. She was nice, and she gave me a couple of callbacks. They had nice quarters, I mean, size-wise. The facility was okay, but it's an older facility, and it seems that you need a lot of upgrading. They had a knitting club and a book club. They said they had a men's club, but I don't know what their men's club consisted of. I think they have movie night also there. They have a patio area, and the building surrounded the patio area. I liked that they could go out and mingle and still be inside their care. But it needed a little work too. It was a nice area.

We looked at Heritage Place Assisted Living. It was good, but their facility is in dire need of an upgrade, and they're aware of that. They have plans to do an update, but with COVID, everything is pushed back a bit. They were good and nice, but we didn't have time to wait for any upgrades to happen, we needed to get my mom in a place immediately. We had to relocate her from California. They need to be painted, they need new carpets, they just need to update everything, not so much the rooms, but it was the common areas that needed work.

Heritage Place Assisted Living was a very nice and very neat facility. The layout was good. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The dining area was nice. They had a beauty and barber shop on-site. They also had a chapel.

I talked to Heritage Place Assisted Living about their memory care, and the tour gave me all the information I needed. It's clean and well-attended, and they had very amiable staff. The people that I saw there were working with their residents, and the people seemed content. We only associated with the marketing director, and she was very amiable, but very well-informed, and gave us a good tour. I was impressed. That person did an excellent job. The place was clean, orderly, and taken care of. I did not see a chapel, but I know they had a meeting room for them for anybody attending church at that site. I saw their entrance, their dining room, and they had a couple of very nice rooms for meeting people in. I thought it was just a nice place, and well-put together.

We visited Heritage Place Assisted Living. It's just down the road from where we live. We were very well accommodated, the lady was helpful, it's really nice, but it wasn't as open and fixed up as the other place. It was really clean. They were going to be renovated by next year. It was homey, and there was plenty of parking space.

My mother moved into Heritage Place Assisted Living, and it seems to be adequate to me. The staff seems to be doing a pretty good job. They took her on a field trip and she thoroughly enjoyed that. Her room is fine, and the place is clean and homey. We had a little problem with communication with the staff for a while, but it got straightened out.

Heritage Place was old, not as well kept, and had more of a hospital feel than a place-you-want-to-live feel. In one of the rooms I looked at, you couldn't put a wheelchair to the bathroom, which was ridiculous for places like that. It was one of their older rooms, though. The staff member who accommodated us made the best of the circumstances, but her office looked like it used to be a storage room. It was nice on the inside, but the outside still had a storage room door.

My friend stayed at Heritage Place and it was awful. When we called at night, we could not get through. It was impossible. Nobody seemed to know what anybody else was doing. My friend fell several times and really hurt her knee and broke her back. We had to put her in the hospital and once she got back from that, some guy with dementia socked her in the jaw. They said, "Well that just happens. We can't do anything about that. They're just a little bit crazy," and I said, "Well, it's your job to protect her." We were furious. You couldn't ever get anything done there. They had a lot of people in the memory unit so it's a little harder to watch everybody and they didn't have a large staff. It seemed to me that they didn't check very well and I don't think they had time. I can't think of anything I didn't have trouble doing there. There were some really good nursing assistants, but if you tried to reach the upper staff, you couldn't find them. The food was good though.

Heritage Place Assisted Living was clean and homey, and it really appealed to me. The person during the tour was very helpful. They had some group activities going on. It seemed pretty active and made sure the residents had activities to attend every day. The dining area was very open and very hospitable. It's my #1 choice.

Our experience with Heritage Place has so far been very good. My friend hasn't been there a very long time, but they're very attentive (probably because their occupancy level is down). They recently had like 12 people pass away in one month. They told me that the leadership administration that had been there previously kind of ran down their reputation. That's why they're working hard with the new staff to build that up. I think that's been very good. The food is good, and they've responded to our needs quickly. The take care of the little things, like when there were ants in the kitchenette and things like that, they're were right there on the spot. On the first day, my friend took a shower, and the shower was very nice because it had a built-in ledge that he could sit on. When I went down to have lunch with him that day, he said that the shower curtain must have not been handled right because his floor was all wet, and he was upset by the mess he had made. I said to just let the front desk know, which he did, and they were there within ten minutes and had it all cleaned up. All on their own, they came in within about ten days and took the wand off and gave him a straight shower head. They are responsible in that way. On Veterans Day they did a special ceremony, getting the VA in Bountiful to come in and do a little program. They hosted a lunch for the veterans and their families. It was a very nice lunch where they asked each of the veteran residents being honored to stand up and tell everyone about their service. Then after lunch, for everyone present, they had a ceremony and a fellow came in and played the bagpipes. They have what you would call an honor wall. They have pictures of each of the residents and they gave a 5x7 commemorative plaque to each of them. I think that was the only senior living place in Bountiful that did that. Its a good thing, because the residents really felt honored. Also, one of the residents was a widow of a veteran, and they honored her too. The place is kind of older, but the service is good. They place could use a little revamping, like their kitchen area. It's common. The food is good, but they bring their steam table up from a lower level so the food is sometimes not as piping hot. However, they're very willing to warm it up if you ask, and they're very willing to bring you something that they have on their menu. If the residents don't care for what's on their menu (which has good choices), they can go down at any time and request whatever you want, like ice cream and cookies. They could improve some of the activities. They had bingo, and we're in a Mormon community, so they have LDS activities. They play movies frequently, and my friend suggested that he would be willing to help to get those lined up, and they're were willing to listen. They also have musicians come at least once a week, and they have a poetry group, so they could maybe expand a little bit. From what we've looked at, I think the prices were very competitive, Bountiful is very close to Salt Lake City. He's in a studio that's pretty large enough for him with lots of storage space. We did get the move in fee and one month rent waived, so they've been willing to work with us. They actually gave him a garage door opener, and they let him park in the place where some of their staff members park. Their memory care is a separate building. If you go into their dining room you might find people who are a bit challenged, falling asleep after their meal, or while waiting for their meal to arrive. You see a lot of rolling walkers and wheelchairs, but by in large, the people are able to better communicate.

Heritage Place looks nice, but I'm concerned about the bathrooms. It doesn't seem like residents can easily get around with their wheelchairs there. They have an area where they can go eat and visit with other people. They also have a room that you can reserve for a family event and stuff which is nice. The community seems fairly nice and clean.

Heritage Place seemed old and worn out. Parking was kind of difficult because it was a small parking area. The rooms were OK and seemed like they needed an upgrade, but it was a nice place. They looked like they prepared lots of choices for meals. The facility seemed older and wasn't quite what my dad was used to. The rooms seemed to be darker and didn't have big windows. The staff seemed very nice. They need to improve the wallpaper and the hallways and need some upgrades in the buildings. That would maybe attract a few more people.

My tour with Heritage Place was good. I enjoyed it. To me it was a bit too big, and I could get lost in that place. It looked good to me. The staff attended to me very well. It seemed like they had a lot of things to do. They play games. They had shopping trips as well as places to visit.

Moving my Grandmother to Heritage Place has been the best decision! The staff is amazing. The food in the dining room has exceeded her expectations. The activities have had her more involved than in the previous assisted living centers she has lived. Water aerobics is her absolute favorite. I would highly recommend Heritage Place.

We visited Heritage Place Assisted Living. I remember it was very large and a little bit confusing to get around until you get used to it. It’s older and dated, but it's a nice community with a nice dining room. They had a good memory-care, and it was a good facility. The staff we saw looked like they were great. They were friendly and helpful.

We put my mother in Heritage House in Bountiful, and it’s a nice place, but she has continued to deteriorate, which is unfortunate but they seemed to be doing pretty good with her. I visit on the weekends, and they are usually lower staff, and they seemed to be staff with young people that probably have gotten their CNA. The turnaround is a little bit more than I would like. I am very satisfied with everything. The food seems to be good; mom has put on a lot of weight since she has been there. All in all, it’s as good a place I think we’re going to find anywhere. She has a single room all by herself.

I looked at both the Assisted and Memory Care areas. The facility is well run Jerrett did an excellent job of showing me all of the features that Heritage Place had to offer. Everyone in the place seemed happy and well taken of. The monthly rental rates are reasonable and this rate also includes many additional services that are not included in many of the other facilities in Salt Lake City, Utah. Because of the inclusion of these additional services,in the rental rate, it makes Heritage Place a very affordable. senior living center option..

My mother-in-law has been at Heritage Place since March. The staff is really nice. They seem to be short-handed a lot. They need to make sure they have enough staff. Heritage Place is very nice and very clean. The aides are wonderful and very nice. It’s a very nice facility with a really nice dining room. They have activities for the residents. Overall they keep it up very nicely, inside and out.

I think Heritage Place response times were completely unacceptable. The food was not nearly as good. They made a bunch of process that basically were not true when we first considered moving my parents in. They charge quite a bit less than the community where my parents are now. But my parents are 95 and 92, so when my dad has to go to the bathroom he can't be waiting. The dining area seemed okay. I ate there a couple of times and the food seemed alright. They also had a lot of fees for things that we would just get for free at other community. If they had to bring the meal to my parents' room, there's a fee for that. We were a little disappointed so we moved them to another community. But you pay for what you get basically.

My Father has been living at Heritage Place in Bountiful, Utah for 7 months. We is not just "doing well", but thriving. He has made many friends among the residents and caring staff. He enjoys the activities. His favorite thing to do is eat in the well lighted dining room. I have the peace of mind knowing that he is cared for. Did I mention he is "99 and feeling fine". I would recommend Heritage to anyone who is looking for an assisted living place

Heritage place was a little older, but I thought it was OK. Everybody living there seemed really happy, and the staff has been helpful; they were great. I really liked how supportive they were. The apartments were really nice; they had a patio area and a courtyard that people could get directly into their apartment. You could modify the room however you want, and you could make it like home. The dining area is big and open. When I was there, it was really active, and there were a lot of people. They had outings, games, movie time, church services, and different crafts and stuff.

My husband has settles in Heritage Place. We like the location, and I have a good recommendation for it. The staff seems to be responsive and friendly. He is in a studio apartment with a separate area for his bed. They are well laid out, and it looks good. I am happy with it. They have a menu, and they can choose different things from the menu. He seems to enjoy that. They have something every day. They take them to the grocery store and to the doctors. They have art activities and social activities. When we first go there, it is quite confusing, so I guess they can be well aware of the clientele that they have.

I have a family memeber at Herritage Place. We came to sites like this and checked reviews to make sure people liked the places we were looking at. This one was highly rated. We toured it several times. Staff seemed great. The move in process should have clued us into how things were going to be. They are nice until you move in. Its gone down hill every week since. We have been lied too over and over. The director will tell you just what she thinks you want to hear, then nothing ever happens. They have messed up on medications. No communication happens between rotating staff. No notes are left to tell you why or when things happened. Yes, the calander is super impressive. BUT they only do about 1/4 of what is on there. Several times i have walked in and every staff member is on thier phones while residents are sitting around staring at each other. If you bring it to the attention of any upper management you are told thr staff is right. DO NOT concider this place if your loved on is in need of memory care. They are under staffed. We never see more then one person working. There are 19 residents. That is not acceptable. They put disney movies on for them most the day. No one engages them, trys to make them smile. These sweet people are in the last years of thier lives and they get no attention or love from the staff. The staff is there for a pay check not because they love these people. Please do not be fooled into this facility. And again DO NOT put your loved one in memory care.
Provider Response
Making the decision to move your loved one into assisted living especially memory care can be very difficult, and I appreciate the thought you put into researching communities via the internet as well as touring multiple times before finally making the decision to move your loved one to Heritage Place. I am sorry to hear about your recent experiences. At Heritage Place, we pride ourselves on the staff we hire to work in our memory care. They sincerely care for the residents, and know each one of them personally. Our memory care staff only work in our memory care and become familiar faces for our residents. Our memory care unit is staffed appropriately. Oftentimes our aides are in a resident apartment providing one-on-one cares, so not always visible, but they are there. Our Med Technicians on duty are also aides, and care for the residents as well. Medications can be difficult to manage, especially medications that change frequently. We require signed physician orders before we can make any changes to our medication records and especially before giving the resident a new dose. Our pharmacy has an extremely quick turn-around time as long as we have all of the necessary information i.e. signed physician orders (which on occasion we must wait to receive from the physician office) once received we can typically get a new/changed medication the same day. Our activities program is based on each residents personal interest. Our calendar is created based on these interests. We encourage our residents to participate in activities, but we do not force them to participate. We plan a full day of activities, and let the residents help us set the pace, this is their home and we want them to feel comfortable in their own home, so if they do not want to participate, that is their right. We are open to new ideas/suggestions and would love for you to share your ideas with us. Our residents mean the world to us. They become a part of our lives and we become a part of theirs. The staff at Heritage Place truly love each and every resident and it shows. We will continue striving to improve our processes and we appreciate your feedback.

My father-in-law is in Heritage Place, and it is a very nice place. His sister -- who is my husband's aunt -- lived there for 7 years, so we've known about it for a long time. He comes up to do their respite care because when we went to Disneyland, we put him there for a week, and while we were making the arrangements, the manager showed us this little apartment, it is close to where she lives, and it is a darling little apartment; I think will be perfect for him, and it is in the right size. The doctor recommends it also because of the dementia that he has, and that will be a good place for him. His sister said, "Oh I would love him to be here." So, we put him there. He is settled down and happy. I know they do swimming aerobics and yoga. They have movies and churches, but I don't know what he participates in yet. I have not eaten there, but he has no complaints, and they have a good variety of food.

The rooms at Heritage Place have outside access and are updated. The staff is very friendly. The dining seemed OK, but we didn't taste the food. They have water exercise classes, puzzles, and movies. It seemed like they were undergoing a lot construction in some areas, so that was a little distracting.

Heritage Place Senior Living's renovation is complete! Our community looks amazing! Thank you for being patient with us during our remodeling phase. Along with the renovations of our common areas, each of our apartments are full-renovated as well, with new paint, carpeting and often-times new cabinetry and marble countertops. We are proud to show off our changes and would like to invite you back for a complimentary meal or two and a quick tour of all the updates. The staff are the friendliest and the food is delicious! And as always our activity calendar is full of fun and exciting things to do. Again, we encourage you to visit us again and thank you for the wonderful review.

My mother is now living at the Heritage Place Assisted Living, and she is doing great there. The room is good, and the cleanliness is very good. She is in the memory care unit, and it is really nice. Her room is very nice. It has a little kitchen and a bedroom. It also has a nice-sized bathroom. She can have her own furniture which is really nice. The staff is very caring and very nice. They have activities like bingo, bus trips, crossword puzzles, and games. They do a lot of activities, and she gets her fingernails painted.

Heritage Place was her first facility. The facility itself was great. It just my mom was non-compliant. It wasn't their fault that she didn't do well there. They will tell her not to smoke in her room, but she will smoke in her room. She wouldn't take her dog out. Instead of working with my mom on those bad habits or behavioral problems, they just wanted her to leave. She was only there for 6 months. The facility was clean, and the staff was nice to me.

The staff at Heritage Place were fine, but I didn’t feel that they were overly friendly. I saw some rooms and they were fine. Their dining area looked fine, but we didn’t eat there.

Heritage Place Assisted Living impressed me. It was a nice facility, and I liked the atmosphere. It's close to the hospital, too. The rooms that I saw were in the Alzheimer's area. I thought they were very nice. I was not planning to eat there, but I had lunch. It was good.

We toured this facility on Main St. in Bountiful and it became our favorite. This facility also had a memory care unit. There were a variety of room styles with options of balconies or patios. The staff seemed extremely friendly and we enjoyed their range of external activities - even exploring the option of cruises. The cost of rooms with the level of activities and care delivered value for the cost. The director engaged my mother-in-law rather than focusing on the others in the family that were also along in the tour.

I chose this place because it's less than a mile from me and it just felt right. I brought my mom here seven years ago to see what she thought of it and she's been there ever since. It's nice, everything works. I have no complaints. They take care of her room and they're taking good care of my mom. They have hospice as well. She's well taken care of; I'm really happy with the facility on how they work, how they respect us and everything.

This facility is not just a home for the elderly, but also for those who need just a little extra help. The staff is wonderful, caring and thoughtful. They actually care about their patients. They have great projects, an ice cream parlor, movie nights, all kinds of things that you can do. They also have some wonderful volenteers that come in and help with whatever the person needs. Heritage Place is a wonderful place for your loved once. The atmosphere is almost magical!

This is a lovely facility. It has everything necessary for day to day life, even a chapel for religious services. One of the most remarkable features of this facility is the playground, especially designed for visiting grandchildren and great grandchildren. During one visit, I watched a big family gathering, possibly an outdoor picnic, to celebrate two residents 65th wedding anniversary. It was a special moment to witness. The residents were surrounded by their children and grandchildren, with the youngest ones enjoying the playground immensely. It was a perfect family scene, set against the backdrop of Heritage Place.
