I have found a wonderful place for myself at Chesterfield Villas of Lancaster Sc. It's very near my home and the rest of my family, so I'm doing well here. It's remarkable, like I've moved into the Taj Mahal. I've got amenities here that I didn't even have at home, and it's just absolutely wonderful. It's a very quiet community. We have one big building that has 36 apartments in it, and then two smaller buildings that have 8 apartments in them. I'm in one of those in the smaller buildings. We have a beautiful pond, flowers, and trees, and it's all well-manicured and so pretty. The apartments on the inside are just what someone my age would be interested in. It's not huge, but it's all that I need. I've got a kitchen with a bar, a dining room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and huge closets. If I had a complaint, it's that it's also based on your income. We receive some HUD money to help us make it through every month, and because I'm a disabled veteran, I also get my social security and VA disability, so that gives me two incomes. As a result, my monthly apartment rental is a little bit higher than some of the other folks who are here. It's unfortunate for me, but it's okay because I'm able to take care of that. We don't have a cafeteria or anything here. Each person has their own apartment, and I have my own kitchen. We also have some companies that will deliver meals if you want to be signed up for that. We have a lovely washroom, and each building has its own laundry facilities, so it's really nice. The only thing that I had to get used to was that I used to live on 26 acres alone, and it was very quiet and serene, so I never heard anything at night. Now that I'm living in the big city of Lancaster, there's a very busy road right out here, and I have to get used to the traffic. Other than that, everything has been wonderful. In the big building, which is the main building, there's a big kitchen where we can entertain. If we wanted to have a family reunion, I could sign up and use that facility. Each individual building itself has a little lounge sitting area in the very center of it. We can bring our families there too, and we can all sit there. If we wanted to get pizza or something like that, we're able to do that. For activities, we have those little Cornhole things, or whatever they're called, Horseshoes, and a small pickleball court. I probably pay more than the rest of the tenants here, but that's okay, because I'm safe and I have met a lot of friends. Each individual building does its own decorating for the holidays, too. We usually have some finger foods and punch, and stuff like that, on the night that we do it. A lot of us in this building get together to play cards and Dominoes. We have a library, too, so there's a lot for us to do.
