My mother will be moving into Kendal-Crosslands Communities. We just really liked it for a whole number of reasons. The range of services and the interactions we've had with the staff have all been extremely good. It seemed very warm and inviting and my mother was quite taken with their gardens. I like the quality of the staff and the convenience of it because it's very close to me and that was very important. I like the dining environment, and the staff just seemed very attentive. The upkeep seemed excellent. My mother enjoyed the food. One of the dining areas overlooks a patio and it's really beautiful. The gardens there were very nice, so the dining areas were very comfortable and scenic.

We've toured Kendal-Crosslands Communities. I like the environment of nature, it's a beautiful complex. They have cottages and apartments that are modernized and beautiful. The grounds are beautiful, they have a great library and they have a really good health facility. There's much space for activities and they have classes on-site. It's a very diverse population. They have all the levels of care in the same site. The person who showed me around during the tour was friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are fully stocked with appliances including a washer and dryer.

Kendal-Crosslands Communities offers a continuum of care which is a plus for me when I need more help. It's a Quaker community, and I find the Quaker values a very comfortable environment. It's physically attractive, but they're low-key not into fancy chandeliers. They say it's spooky but outside, the grounds are attractive. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful. I like the way they stay in touch with prospects like me, they don't overdo it or keep bugging me. On the other hand, they check in now and then with a phone message or an email. It's a balanced marketing approach, I just found them to be professional and dignified but friendly and responsive. The facility itself is not brand new, maybe parts of it are, but the facility as a whole has been there for a while. So it's not as spiffy as some of the newer places. Their activities are pretty much typical of those places. They make arrangements so that you can go into the city for concerts, plays, and visits to museums. They also have onsite facilities for sport and fitness, movies, and bridge.

Kendal at Longwood is older, but it doesn't show. They've upgraded it and it looks suitable. What was appealing to us was the size of the cottages, which were 2-bedrooms with a den. They were a nice size, and much bigger than we see in other places. The staff member who showed us around was very knowledgeable and has been in the business for a long time. The food wasn't special, but it was OK. They have lots of different clubs, physical activities, swimming, there's a gym, hiking, photography, and arts.

I went to Kendall at Longwood. It’s a nice community, but the rooms were a little bit small. They have very nice staff that look after you. The dining room is nice and spacious. People were having lunch there when we visited.

Kendal is a brand new community. They are on a 400-acre property. We are considering to live in this place. It is a continuing care community, which is very good. They just built some new cottages with two-car garages. They also have two-bedroom units, which we like very much. Kendal is a very highly rated community in this area; however, it is also expensive.

Crosslands was more concerned about how much money they could suck out of my mother-in-law than they were about the level of care provided. to them, it's all about the money. I would suggest considering other alternatives.

Kendal has a very good reputation. They had different levels and choices for their rooms, and they were all very nice. It's on a beautiful setting and the grounds were beautiful. They've got a lot of interaction and activities.

Both of my grandparents lived at the Kendall Crosslands Communities retirement community, which I visited very often. The grounds and facilities were always in wonderful condition, and the staff were very friendly. Crosslands offered small apartments to live in with basic amenities in them like a kitchen for basic cooking, a small but comfortable living room and a bedroom with a bathroom attached. Along with the apartment also came a small personal patio in the back with a lovely view of the grounds and a tiny garden space to work with. After my grandparents had been living at Crosslands for 3-4 years, they both eventually decreased in health and had to be taken into assisted living/nursing home care, which was very thorough. The nursing staff appeared to know what they were doing really well, and were very helpful to family in keeping us updated on the health status of our family members. When my grandparents both died about a year apart from one another, Crosslands provided a very nice large reception room in the main building for our whole extended family and friends to gather for a memorial service. Overall, my experience with Kendall Crosslands Communities was always very positive.
