Our family is deeply thankful for the care our father received at Life Enriching Communities at Wesley Ridge, particularly through the Robert A. Barnes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and later the Wesley Ridge Hospice team. His stay spanned over two and a half years, and during that time we experienced consistent compassion, professionalism, and genuine human care. Making the decision to place a loved one into a nursing or rehabilitation facility is never easy. Walking alongside them as their health declines—and eventually facing the transition to hospice—can be overwhelming. Throughout this entire process, the staff at Wesley Ridge helped shoulder that weight and guided us with care and respect. I spent a great deal of time in the facility, which allowed me to see more than just how my father was treated. I observed how staff interacted with residents throughout the building, and what stood out was the consistency: patience, kindness, and dignity were shown to everyone, not only when families were present. As my father’s dementia progressed and his medical needs became more complex, the staff adjusted seamlessly. Daily care, medical procedures, and moments of confusion were handled calmly and respectfully. He was always treated as an individual, never as a checklist or task. When hospice care became appropriate, the transition was smooth and thoughtful. The hospice team worked closely with the facility staff to ensure his comfort and peace, while also supporting our family. His care addressed not only physical needs, but emotional, social, and spiritual well-being as well. We are especially grateful for the activities team, who brought joy and purpose into his days. Whether it was games, group activities, faith-based services, or simply opportunities to engage and socialize, they helped preserve his sense of connection and enjoyment. Those moments truly mattered. I would also like to recognize the dietary, housekeeping, and laundry staff—roles that are often overlooked but essential. Their attention to detail and care contributed greatly to my father’s comfort and dignity. What we will remember most is the humanity shown every day: the warmth, reassurance, laughter, and genuine concern for residents and families alike. We are sincerely appreciative of everyone involved in our father’s care—nurses, aides, rehabilitation professionals, hospice caregivers, activity staff, dietary services, housekeeping, and support staff. Wesley Ridge and The Robert A. Barnes Center represent what compassionate long-term and end-of-life care should be.

My mother is staying currently at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community for her PT and recovery. She is very satisfied with the facility. The rehab floor was more clinical in terms of the accommodations. Her room was more like a hospital room. Recently, she was moved to the first floor because she had to transition to respite care. Then they moved her into an apartment, which I haven't seen yet. They had book club and bingo. When she was in rehab, they would provide her with a menu, and it was fairly extensive and varied. I don't recall her complaining too much about the food. The one piece that would maybe bring their rating down was she had a lot of problems with the television in her room, and it wasn't being addressed. They sent in a maintenance person to try to get it taken care of, but it continued to be a problem throughout the period of her stay. It was only within the last couple of weeks that it was resolved. The TV was really her only distraction, and she couldn't really watch it the way she was hoping to. I was a little disappointed that given the cost of the facility, they didn't just simply replace the TV immediately. There was an effort on two occasions to send somebody to fix the problem though. If I were the one staying there, I would have been a little more aggressive in getting it taken care of. My mother was more accepting of the problem than she should have been. I wouldn't penalize them too greatly on that.

We went to the Wesley Ridge Retirement Community. Overall, it was good. The biggest negative was price, the rooms were smaller, it was older, and less bright inside. It felt real confining inside. They had a garden area where they could go in, and they could plant plants if they wanted to.

Wesley Ridge is very good. I like it. However, at the time, my husband wasn't really ready to make a decision on the assisted living and we didn't want to buy-in on the independent living. Of all, the communities, I think Wesley Ridge is the best. It's very well done. They have a rehab place, and they just built a swimming pool. They have different activities during the day. Their activities are very good. Their food is very good. The people are very friendly. The staff are very friendly and very nice, too.
