I was very pleased with everything at the Carolina Rehab Center of Burke. It was big, and it was not like a nursing home. Their work ethics was good. The food was OK. They have rehab occupational therapy and physical therapy. They also have a lot of activities for the residents.

I have been in this facility various times of the day. I have always been presented with kind attitudes and helpfulness from the staff. The patients always seem to be engaged in activities and therapy is always being done. This is a very clean facility with no odors! The floors in the therapy room and dinning room SHINE! I am very pleased with this facility and I am glad I made the choice to have my mother here for her rehab! Sometimes people have "not so good" experiences at places; restaurants even. But, we do not just take the word of other people, we check it out for ourselves. That is what I suggest everyone to do! Go tour the facility. Talk the staff. See it for yourself. Carolina Rehab my mother and I thank you for your excellence!

One star rating is too high for this place. We were not pleased with care provided. Mom often sat up to one hour+ in dining room with other residents waiting for a meal. She was there for rehab after a fall. She had dementia. She became very frightened when a change occurred in her room that she could not comprehend. She refused her medication so they administered an antipsychotic injection. She could not raise her head or eat she was so sedated. She ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. She returned there to complete rehab. We were told at 4:30 on a Friday she would be discharged the next Tuesday. It was obvious she could not be cared for at home. There was no assistance with finding a suitable facility for continued care. In fact, they were rude when we voiced our concerns. When discharged, the medication orders sent to receiving facility were written incorrectly resulting in overmedicating her again. She had to return to rehab at another facility to regain her ability to walk. After a few short weeks that facility had her walking and assisted us in preparing for her return home with recommendations for modifications in the home. I will never recommend this place. She was never offered activities. The front porch rockers were nice.

The rooms were small and the nurses not all but most were terrible. The CNA's all need to be replaced and the Administration is like they don't realize what is going on in their facility. The Physical therapy and Occupation therapy was the only thing that I can brag upon. You can't get water and where you can buy drinks they have that area locked off. This is not the same place that it was 4 years ago when my family was a resident here. I'm in the process of getting him moved out. If the Dr. was to order medicane it might be several days before they receive it even if you inquire about it they act like they get mad. Don't put your family or friends in this place.

So very disappointed and sad that the elderly are treated with disrespect. While our loved one was there, her oxygen was left off several times, her personal things were shoved in the floor, she was left and forgotten in a wheel chair, her requests were not taken care of. We were told to bring our loved one's potty seat and walker because the facility did not have enough for everyone. When the potty seat was put in the bathroom for our loved one, they took the other seat out and the lady sharing room had to use our loved ones potty seat. All day and at night the staff yells at each other down the hall so it is hard to sleep and rest. No respect or compassion. The physical and occupational therapists did their job and showed compassion to our loved one. They helped her when she needed her meds when no one else would. The took her to bathroom when no one else showed up. We were very thankful for the pt and ot staff. It was very obvious the rehab center is short staffed. The CNA's would run in and run out and forget to do requests when our loved one asked. When we first brought her in, we told everyone to not jerk on or pull our loved one. They did not listen and it was done anyway even though she was in a lot of pain. The lady in the room with our loved one said it was a bad place and she wanted to go home. Our loved one was taken out because her time had run out, but we were so grateful to get her out. Will never take anyone there again.

This place is horrible, do not take your leave e ones here! The care is terrible the nurses have no passion for the patients. They do not respond to there calls my mother waited over two hours to get pain medicine! No excuse for this lack of care this was after she called numberous times, the administration tries to act as if they care but they do not. Real management would hor not allow the nurses to treat patients in the manner that I have witness. Nurses are always eating at the nurses station ignoring patient calls not checking on them or delivering medicine as scheduled. I would rate this place a negative 10. Do not take your love ones here they will not receive the care they need!!!

Carolina Rehab Center was nice and clean. My mother has been in there twice, and they really helped her get up and get around, but the last time she was in there, I wasn’t quite as pleased with it as I was the first time. I guess they could improve on communicating with the family more because I would have to ask them everything.

This place is way understaffed. Often makes their employees work 16+ hours, which in my opinion is unsafe. They do not have enough staff to provide adequate care. This place should be SHUT DOWN! My mother -n-law was there for rehab and was very unhappy with her stay. All they worry about is having patients in their beds. Her room was changed 5 times in the 3 weeks she was there. HORRIBLE

I am very angry with this facility. Our father was transferred there from a long hospital stay and has multiple health issues. He was there approx. 2 weeks and fell out of his bed and we were NOT notified. He layed in the floor for almost an hour and when I got there the nurse told me he fell and got "busy and forgot to call"- he would lay there all day w/o interaction and his food tray layed there. he developed a horrible infection on his bottom due to lack of cleaning. HORRIBLE PLACE

My Grandmother was a patient at this facility for rehab on several occasions from 2009-2011. My mother was a patient over the summer. Throughout each of my Grandmother's stays she had meticulous nursing care from nurses and the aids. The nursing staff was friendly to her and to the family. They always kept us informed of changes. Grandma, who had always begged not to go to a nursing home, sobbed the first time she left to go back home. She viewed the staff as her friends. Grandma was heavy, she required a lot of care, and sometimes she was not in the best mood. She got excellent care everyday. In addition, they have lots of therapy staff and equipment. The therapists really pushed Grandma to do her best, and Grandma loved them. My mom was a patient there over the summer. Again, the care from nursing and therapy was exceptional. The most amazing thing- my Grandpa sat at the bedside, visiting Mom one day. He saw nothing out of the ordinary going on. A CNA came in the room, ran and got a nurse, and within minutes life saving measures were in place. My mom had a pulmonary embolism. Because of the observant CNA, the quick actions all the staff responding, the EMS and the care given at the hospital my Mom is back home now and is doing great. The facility was clean and beautiful, not like a nursing home. The food, well it isn't a restaurant, but I thought it was pretty good, Mom loved it, Grandma did too. They ate a lot more meals than I did, and neither of them lost any weight during their stay. I would recommend this nursing home for stay or for rehab to anyone. Of all the nursing homes I have ever visited or had family in, this one is by far the best. I could not express enough gratitude for the care they gave my family. Great will be their reward in Heaven!

My Nanny was placed in the care of this facility following a long stint in the hospital to recover before she was able to cared for at home. Her time there was quite aggravating for her as the nurses always seemed very confrontational. Many times simple questions would be met with short and unthoughtful answers that would only confuse the poor woman further. The actual facility seemed cleaned and well maintained. The layout of the rooms however was not user friendly and the lack of guidance was frightening. It appeared nothing was clearly marked, I do not know how the people who worked there got around. This usually was the source of Nanny's frustration interacting with the staff. No one seemed to care if she could navigate her way to the dining area. The food was nothing to write home about but at least it was approved by Nanny. Nanny's stay lasted 2 months and she was quite happy to leave.
