"The staff at the Pines are nice and seem to be well trained. They have a courtyard where the people staying there can visit with family and friends. My wife's grandmother has been there for a year and is fairly well taken care of. The only problem was when she was tranfered from the regular nursing home section to the dementia ward. During the last couple visits they have left her there unattended and without anything to do. I had to explain the the attendants that they must check in on her because she has a tendency to wonder off. "

"When I first walked in to visit my Aunt Phyllis, I was nervous. Nursing homes are not the first place I want to be. I received a phone call earlier that day that my aunt's crohn's disease had gotten a lot worse suddenly and she was on her death bed, so my family and I went to visit her. I was greeted with a smile and asked if I needed help finding the room I was looking for. The lady at the front desk took me right to my aunts room at the end of the hall in the East Wing. The lobby was decorated with pumpkins(since it was the beginning of November) and recent pictures of residents petting animals. When I got in there I noticed I didn't smell anything. I used to work at a different nursing home and that one smelled bad the second I went into work everyday. My aunt had perfume, stuffed animals, and a homemade pirate ship by her bed. I asked where she had gotten them, and my uncle replied "She won them at Bingo". It was nice to know that she didn't just lay there all day watching tv and that she had fun there. The nurse came to check on her every two hours and was really nice. Even the staff person that did her hair and the person who did her nails came to see her and hugged her showing that they actually cared and didn't just want a paycheck. Because of the condition my aunt was in, the staff allowed my family members to visit after visiting hours as long as we were quiet, as not to disturb everyone else. My aunt ended up passing away there roughly two days later because of her condition and with there being nothing anyone could do. This was probably one of the hardest times in my life, but the doctors, and staff at Jennie B. Richmond did everything they could do. I would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone because the staff here really cared about the residents. "

"All of the staff at The Field of Dreams were so supportive when my friend moved into their facility. They went above and beyond to make the transition easy for her. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting when I go to visit and my friend has adjusted very well. The activites department Keeps the residents busy with daily activities and encourages anyone who is interested to participate. I would highly recommend The Field of Dreams to anyone looking for an assisted living facility for themselves or a loved one."

"I toured Randolph Manor. Catherine did a good job of explaining everything. We have a concern that the facility doesn't have air conditioning. It just has portable window units, and we were looking at more of the private versus the semi. We weren't sure if they could even put a window unit in it because of the style of the windows. My aunt does have COPD, so that could cause a problem for us there. I did like the availability of all the rooms that they had available for everybody to get together and watch TV. I liked the fact that they had a puzzle room where everybody could sit and a little concern that there's access to go outside without being monitored. My aunt does have a walker, and two out of the three of these avenues to go outside had stepped down. So, my concern is that it could be a problem for her with the walker to get out. It's a clean facility."

"The Pines nursing home is truly the best one in the area, my grandmother was a resident in this facility for approximately seven years, the whole time suffering from severe dementia. The care here was above and beyond what I would expect. The nursing staff was knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to help out.As a testament to the care of the nurses, my grandma, who spend 15 years in nursing homes prior to her death was a constant sufferer of bed sores in the eight years before we found the Pines, however during her seven years as a resident she never had another sore. As general information, the rooms are set up as doubles, every patient having a roommate. The care is all inclusive, with a hair dressing area, full food service in a cafeteria style environment, social gatherings such as bingo and bringing in local artists as presenters. Additionally, there is a doctor on call 24/7 and the facility is approximately ten minutes from the local hospital. There is physical therapy for all patients and a full time nursing staff.During my gradma's illness we tried out most, if not all, of the local nursing homes and the Pines was by far the best. "

"Eden Heights is a very nice assisted living place. It’s not a huge complex, but it does have four stages of care for people with memory problems. My mother is currently in stage two, moderate care. The staff there is very good. They all seem to have a pleasant personality and deal with her very nicely. They try to gear the meals toward what the residents like, and their proportions are nice. They encourage them to do activities or go outside, plant flowers or whatever the residents can do. I've never heard a bad comment about an employee or resident there. The rooms are very nice. Her room looks over the entrance, so she can see people coming and going. The room is very comfortable. "

"My mother is in Cuba Memorial Hospital. They're good. She has to have a special diet, and they're very good about that. I think, like all places, they don't have enough help so their people get pretty ragged, but they're all very pleasant to her. She has no complaints about that at all. It's very clean. They're doing the best they can. I'm satisfied."

"My mother will be moving into Chapel Ridge. We chose this facility because it is close to my mother's current home, and therefore she knows people throughout the community, and they can come visit her easily. Her friends are in the neighborhood, but she also knows a couple people that are already in Chapel Ridge. That was the primary reason that we were kind of focused on this facility. We haven't actually experienced it, but it appears that the services, from talking to other residents and things, are excellent. They increase the level of care according to the needs of the client. The facility itself is quite nice. They had a nice dining room and sitting areas. We were accommodated well with an apartment that was appropriate for my mom on the first floor. They do everything they can to accommodate the residents and their family and make them comfortable. The setting is nice. We haven't been able to explore the outdoors so much because of the weather, but there's a walking path and a nice courtyard where residents can go and sit and enjoy the outdoors. The apartment is adequate, not extremely spacious, but it's got a lot of light coming through the windows, and it's very clean. They do housekeeping, and it will be in very good condition when we move in. The facility looked comfortable and definitely well kept from what we've seen."

"My father stayed in the facility for about six weeks while recovering from surgery. The staff was wonderful; they were friendly and attentive. There were quite a few people in residence, and a somewhat limited staff, so sometimes it would take them a while to come to the room when they were called. My father was in the facility over Christmas, and they were very accommodating, allowing my family to bring Christmas dinner and celebrate with him in the communal dining area. The staff decorated for the holiday, but despite their best efforts, the facility still appeared rather stark and sterile. My father had a roommate, and there was not much in the way of privacy; just a thin curtain between their living areas. While I don't think my family would send my father to this facility for long-term care, they took very good care of him during his recovery. "

"For the most part I thought the Bradford Manor was a very nice place with friendly and caring staff. They have many activities through out the day and I saw that everyone was cared for at the best to the staffs abilities. Although, I did notice some clients being favored over others. I think it's important for the staff and clients to have a well established relationship and unfortunatly I didn't see a lot of that at this facility. The food is quite good but the way they serve could use some work. It only takes one mistake for everything to get backed up and that seems to happen all too often. The nursing aides are very friendly and well trained as they run classes in the same facility. I do think that sometimes the aides have a bit too much to do in such a short amount of time but that changes as the census changes. Over all I do think it's a wonderful place and I've never had any thoughts or reasons to believe that any abuse or neglect has gone on. I can tell this is a caring place. "

"Eden Heights of Eden is excellent, from the people in the office to the people working there. My mother-in-law is in assisted living. Her room is spacious, about 35 feet long, so it's a good sized room. Everybody's happy and joyful every time I'm there. From what I've seen and from what I've heard from my mother-in-law, the staff is excellent. They play ingo, they sing, and there's all kinds of different activities. There's something going on all the time."

"Absolut Ctr's staff was wonderful, very welcoming, friendly, and answered all of our questions, but we were disappointed in the facility itself. It’s a whole different type of assisted living and not what we’re looking for. The rooms were just basic. "

"My parents lived at Oak Tree Apartments before, and they live there now. Their one-bedroom apartment has a walk-in bathtub, and they have washers and dryers in the building. It's a close community, so everybody keeps an eye on everybody. The staff is pretty good and on top of everything. There are no complaints. They don't have the food services, but they have the AOA for the seniors who qualify, and that serve lunches and have them delivered if they choose. They have activities, they get on the bus and go to Wal-Mart or to lunch, and they do field trips. Your rate is based upon your income."

"My mother had lived at Lutheran for 11 years. When she came out of rehab, the Lutheran would not allow her to move in. They were not very receptive to taking her. They told me, “Well, if you want to wait in the rehab at $340 a night, we will be happy to keep her until something opens up." It was a beautiful, brand-new facility. They were just not very receptive. The staff wasn’t helpful. After I had moved my mother into the other place for about two weeks, they called me and said, “Oh, we have an opening now,” but I was 600 miles away and could not go back and move her. I was very frustrated because she wanted to live there. She had lived at the independent housing for 11 years, and they would not immediately accept her into the assisted living. However, the facility was beautiful. The rooms and bathrooms were large. The only problem I had was with the staff. "

"Every weekend, Sundays to be more specific, my father and I visit him and or take him on home visit for a few hours. The nurses that take care of my grandpa have been really well organized as well as nice. Medications and meals have been on time and accurate. He is in his own room with as much privacy as he want's, the nurses have been really good to knock and say there name before they enter upon approval. In the assisted living program there are not allowed any pets, so this was a big upset to grandpa. Bathrooms are very well set up with grab bars and wheel chair accessibility to the sink and the shower. One of the biggest features the place has to offer is their life line service. If he were to fall there are censors on the floor that will set off a silent alarm to a panel for emergency contact. "
