My great aunt moved to Miners Colfax Medical Center after several dizzy spells and a bad fall. She immediately felt at home. While Miners does not boast of the amenities that larger facilities in big cities can offer, it has a more homey feel. My aunt loves the staff. Every time we come visit, she introduces us to someone in the office, or the lady that helps her get her meals, or the woman who leads aerobics. And everyone seems happy to be working there - not a bad attitude in sight. The food is decent - not haute cuisine, but pretty good cafeteria style with plenty of variety. Lots of activities in the sun room including chair aerobics, drawing, bingo, and singing. It's a shame there aren't as many outings opportunities as there are in facilities in Albuquerque or in Orlando. We were very pleased that the facility is attached to the local hospital in case she has more dizzy spells. While Miner's may not have some facilities and outing opportunities other facilities have, more importantly my aunt is happy and feels like she's surrounded by people who genuinely care about her.
