My father is in Cornerstone at Hampton. We chose it because of the staffing; it's clean, and it's modern. The people are great. It's very nice. They have good sized rooms. It's a relatively large facility, so there are great outdoor spaces, great courtyards, a lot of nice amenities, and quite a few activities. They have animals coming in with trainers. I think they're all outrageously expensive.

I'm in Cornerstone at Hampton. I have to be here because I need the help. There's nothing wrong with the place; it's just me. I think they treat us like we're all stupid, and I'm not stupid. I have a running argument with them about my meds. I take care of my medicine, and I put them in pill boxes that have the whole week, but I have been called down three times to say, "We have to do your meds." There are a lot of rules here, and they do things that I just don't agree with. I argued with the woman who's running the activities. I said, "Why aren't you posting that list where people could see it?" She said, "Oh, we never do that." I don't think that's a reason. The good thing is they'll drive us on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Wednesday morning to doctor appointments, included with the cost. The food has gone downhill in the last month. I know groceries have gotten more expensive, but today they said, "Oh, we can't have blueberries anymore because the prices increased." Blueberries and bananas were the only fresh fruit we had, and I'm not a banana eater. There's nothing else that's fresh. Everything else is usually canned. I don't think that, for the fact that I'm paying over $13,000 a month, we should have to give up blueberries. They don't currently have a chef. We had one for about five days, and then she was either fired or she left because we never know what's going on around here. The communication is really bad here. The food has gotten very meager. We used to get a decent hamburger, and now it's paper-thin. We have a lot of hot dogs and beans. It's not what it was when I moved here three months ago, and I can understand that the price of food is going up, but I don't know what they're doing with all that money that I give them. I have to pay an extra fee to have a woman come in twice a night and get me into the bathroom. They have a library, but it's all donated books. The facility conditions are good. The rooms are clean. They get rid of the trash almost every day, so there's no smell. They're good at that. They do my laundry. The activities suck big time. I don't play bingo. They don't have any competitive games. I've been looking for somebody else to play gin rummy with or Rummikub. The only thing they play here is poker, and I'm not a bettor. They offer horse racing. You're assigned a horse, which is a little plastic figure, and then they roll the dice, and they move the horse, and you just sit there and watch. Every week, there's a van you can get on and go out for lunch, which is paid for by the resident, but we never go anywhere else, just to a restaurant. This is not a non-profit, and that's part of the reason our rates are so high. The only thing I think is better than a three is the services here. Communication could be improved. The food servers are great. They're very friendly, and I like them a lot. I just don't like the food they serve. I sit at a table with a couple of men. They get the same meager meal that I do. These are large men, and some of them are over 6 feet. I don't see how they get along on that food. Yesterday we had pork tenderloin, and it was less than a quarter of an inch thick.

I had a very disappointing experience with this memory care facility. From the start, communication and support were lacking. We were never provided with a care plan before or shortly after move-in, as had been promised. Important details, such as medication updates, were not communicated. There was no guidance on what to expect upon move-in, such as safety checks, activities, or how to access necessary information. It took weeks of follow-up to get forms for medical consultations, and medical updates were often not shared with me or the healthcare provider. Additionally, promised activities and services were rarely offered, and the staff did not take the initiative to address basic needs or concerns. There was a lack of personalized care, and it felt as though the specific needs of the resident were not being taken seriously. Overall, this experience was frustrating, and I hope the facility makes improvements in communication, support, and individualized care.

I would recommend Cornerstone at Hampton. Olivia, the Executive Director, is really on-point and very caring. She has a wealth of background in Geriatrics, dementia, and Alzheimer's. Patricia, who heads the Memory Care unit, is very passionate, very caring, and very hands-on. The staff is very caring, very passionate, and very knowledgeable. They do care and they are very professional. If somebody is in my position right now on the sea coast or in that relative area within New Hampshire, I would recommend that they look at Cornerstone at Hampton. The facility is beautiful and new. More importantly, it has a lot of natural light, which is incredibly important for people with Alzheimer's. Whoever the architect of the building designed it in such a way that memory care was at the forefront. They had a beauty salon and a barber shop on site. I saw the menu and I witnessed the food they were putting out, they had fresh fruits and it was absolutely a stunning menu. The other thing on the menu was that it was geared towards a Mediterranean diet. They also try a holistic approach to memory deficits and stuff.

Liars; will tell you anything to get you in the door and fill a room; when you figure this out and try to get your loved one out they will hit you with every fee possible; their $4K "comprehensive evaluation" is a joke, just another way to get your money. "Fish 7x a week" is another joke. We did like the desk staff, but you should definitely pick another facility for your relative.

My father-in-law used to live in Cornerstone at Hampton. We spent a lot of time there, before COVID hit in particular, and we were very favorably impressed with them. The people were lovely, the facility was very nice, and the food was good. They really took good care of him and he was quite happy there. You could tell that they were genuinely attached to him and that they formed a connection with him. COVID was not all that great, but it felt as though he was in a place where the people cared about him. They were well-resourced and we were pleased by the whole experience. He had a studio apartment that was very nicely appointed with a nice bathroom and a small kitchenette. He also decorated it with his belongings. It's a two-story facility and they have a memory care unit as well. It's not an enormous place, so the personalized care was quite good. They knew everybody and the staff made an effort to connect with the residents. They had a lot of offerings, like movie nights a couple of times a week, a cocktail lounge, happy hour, people that come in from outside to give lectures, and every month they had a different theme/country/location that people engaged in. They had a nice public space behind the building that had a fence so people could not wander off, which was nice. So, they were terrific. They were really nice people, really caring, and proactive.

We're keeping my dad at the Cornerstone at Hampton. He's familiar with everyone there, and we don't want to disrupt him from his home, and that's his home now. We've made the decision to just keep him there. He is at the Compass memory care unit. It's a brand new facility. It's in a style that's very homey, yet you're kind of a like in a hotel. It's beautiful, they have big day rooms, and they have an open kitchen for snacks that's like a little cafe if they want to grab something to eat there. They have a dining room in the assisted living where they can order their own food. For the memory care unit, they have a couple of choices for the patients. They may not always remember food items, so they tweak the different items for them and they get to choose, which is phenomenal. They have extracurricular activities that they do with them. It's fabulous because they keep them engaged. They had entertainers sometimes coming in, but not right now. The grounds are beautiful. It's a gorgeous facility. The staff is attentive. I did some research and thought they kept increasing the price, but they were well within the means of market price. In fact, they've actually done a little bit better than this other nursing home with a memory care unit that costs $11,000 a month. Cornerstone is below that and for what you get, it's definitely worth it, which is why we decided to keep my dad there.
