I chose Carrollton Village Apartments because it is the first available, they gave the earliest move-in date, and they accommodated me. It was carpeted, so I gave a message that I would do better with tile floors, and so they came in and changed it to tile floors. One downside for me is that they don't have a step-in shower, so I have to have a shower chair and go that extra step for bathing. It's ideal if it's just a step-in shower, but I can manage. There is no microwave, but there is a stove and a refrigerator. They have just remodeled the area. There are nice, calming colors. There is a TV room. They don't furnish meals or anything, but they have a dining facility if you want to meet some friends and do something larger than your apartment size. It's good. Periodically, they have meals you can sign up for, but they don't get a whole lot of participation. Several people have a housekeeper come in, or if they need a nurse to come in, they can get a la carte services to them. Otherwise, you're independent unless you hire your own thing, so it's doable. It is an older place compared to some houses and apartments that I lived in before, but it's doable. Most of the people here don't cook, so they don't need a stove. They don't buy a lot of groceries, either. There is a laundry facility on the ground, which is a good thing. There are mailboxes, and I like the aspect of living inside the building. When I ask for something, I usually get it within a reasonable amount of time. I've been here like six months, but every time I have a request, I usually get a response within two or three days. If they can't accommodate me, they'll hire out the service that I'm requesting, so they're good about that. The office admin is here three out of seven days. No one is here in the office on weekends. However, we have a pull cord in our bathroom and bedroom. It's a decent deal outside of assisted living, which goes into income and all those other things that come with it. My utilities aren't very costly, even though it's an older building and it's a little drafty sometimes, but I think it is a good price.
