Sunset Manor is a wonderful place. My mother was there, as well as my mother-in-law and aunt. I have many friends and family who have been there too. It's an A1 place, wonderfully well run and highly recommended. The staff is top-shelf and they're very, very good. I can't find any fault with Sunset Manor or any of the Sunset properties. We didn't observe any activities, but my mother-in-law and my mother participated in a number of things while they were there. They did card games, different day trips to see different sites, various study groups like Bible study, book clubs, and all that. They have lots of activities. They have a cafe and a full dining area, and the food is very, very good. The facility is extremely well maintained.

I went to Sunset Manor. I don't dislike anything about it. It is Christian-based. They have a lot of activities. It's a great atmosphere and they have a pool and sauna. The staff was great. The food was excellent. The cleanliness and structure of the building was excellent. They have quality rooms. It's a friendly environment. The dining area was nice, and the courtyard was beautiful.

We had a good experience going on the tour at Sunset Manor. The lady showed us some of the rooms and just talked about the area and what they have to offer. They have different rooms. Some of them were just one room. Some of them are two rooms with a kitchenette and then they have apartments that are a little bigger. They have a nice dining area, a library, a knitting group, book clubs, a store, and different things. It's close by and it's very convenient for my daughters

The Sunset Manor was fine but it wasn't for us. As my daughter would say, it was too bougie, and I didn't like the fact that they have a buy-in program. The person who assisted us was very good though. Every time she went by someone, she would say hi and knew their names. That was a huge facility so I was so impressed that she knew everyone's name. They had a lot of things. They had a computer room and they offered computer classes. You could also use one of their computers if you didn't have your own. They had two hot tubs, and a swimming pool and they also had activities daily. There were quite a variety of activities. She said they have 8 elevators, which I thought was great because it was a huge community. What I also didn't like is the fact that it was near such a busy area. I've lived in Grand Rapids now for 23 years, and I am not that familiar with that side of town. The fact that it was in such a busy area, was a kind of a turnoff, at least for us.

Sunset Manor seemed like a very welcoming community. There are a lot of activities that I liked for my mom because she's an active person. It was clean. We had lunch there, and the food was excellent. I don't have anything negative to say about it. The staff was excellent. The woman who gave us the tour knew many of the residents' names, she was engaged with them, and she knew their histories. They were great. They have outings and things within the facilities. There's a gym and a pool, almost everything she would want to do.

I cannot express my gratitude to Sunset Manor and their staff! My mother was a resident for 7 years, beginning in an independant assisted living situation to complete care with hospice in the last year of her life. The staff were so loving and caring to her and did their very best to make sure her needs were taken care of as promptly as possible given the number of patients they had to care for. They provided her with wonderful food, companionship, entertainment and the facility is so beautiful! She often remarked that she felt like a queen to live there. When her last days came, they were so thoughtful, informative and compassionate not only to Mom but to the family as well! A true blessing to us and the community!

My parents liked Sunset Manor because of the way things are structured, and how things are done there. If they get to a point where their money runs out, they're not booted out the door. The staff was amazing, and we spent four and a half hours touring the place. They have a pool, hot tub, workout center, they have games, and they take trips. I was very impressed, the rooms were beautiful, well-maintained, and with no smell at all.

Sunset Manor was very good, large, busy, and had a lot of people and so many things going on. If you're looking for a quiet place, you wouldn't go there. The rooms were nice and under reconstruction; they're working on repairing some things in parts of the older facility, like trying to widen the doors and fix the elevators. They're very friendly and we had a good visit there. Pricing was comparable to others in the area.

We had a very nice visit at Sunset Manor. It’s huge, awesome, really nice, and really clean, and the grounds were kept immaculate. It was very ideal for parents not yet in the memory care area. They had a bunch of dining options, they had a swimming pool, and they had a lot of amenities. It was just not a good fit for mom. However, we would probably choose it for my dad.

My wife stayed at Sunset Manor. It was OK, but they didn’t attend to her personal needs nearly as much as I wanted. The rooms were fine. It’s a large place. I think they had at least 600 people. It was permanent residence as well as assisted living and respite care. They had everything. They had the 3 major living situations available. Maybe they were so large that they didn’t have really enough staff to take care of all the residents. That could be why I was somewhat dissatisfied. The food was very good, and they certainly had a wide range of activities for people. They had everything. It is just my wife’s personal care as far as, for example, I wanted them to brush her teeth for her because she was unable because of the stroke, and they didn’t want to do that. They let her do that herself, thus she wasn’t doing a very good job. As far as personal hygeine, after she would go to the bathroom, she needed assistance, well, they left her to do that by herself; that didn’t work out too well as I thought it would. I was just disappointed.

We’re in Sunset Village. We chose it for several reasons. One is that it’s local here and it’s a very quality Christian community. It’s first class, and it’s very nice. I would have to rate the staff as tops, first class, very professional, Christian, and caring. The food is excellent with good variety, and there’s plenty of it. We have excellent menu choices. There are complete programs going on.

My grandmother was a resident here for roughly 18 months, before passing away last year. Luckily for me, I lived nearby in Jenison, MI and made an effort to visit her twice a week. I often went with my two older sisters, and we always left feeling good, knowing that she was taken such good care of. One of the attending nurses took a special liking to my grandma and made us feel right at home. I was most impressed with the number of events that they had going on, everything for game nights to piano players from the local orchestra to arts and crafts days. The local community took it upon themselves to make sure that the residents at Sunset Manor had visitors. My only negative comment is that they hire students from nearby high schools and colleges to handle some roles at Sunset Manor, and my grandmother always complained that they were often cold towards the residents, even bordering on rude. Take that with a grain of salt, as my grandma can be hard to please, but during those two years I can't think of a place where she would have been as happy as she was at Sunset Manor.

The Sunset family of care is amazing. The facility beautiful and very affordable even for the modest income. The staff caring for my mom now in The Reflections (Alz) Unit is outstanding. They love on my mom like their very own.

We went to visit the Sunset Manor assisted living facility since we were already in the region, looking at places for my friend's mother to live. The outside grounds were well tended, vibrant and colorful. There were nice trees and benches for residents to enjoy. The interior foyer was bright, airy and fresh. There was plenty of sunlight so that they do not need to use lighting when it is sunny outside. The private rooms featured plenty of space in nicely decorated surroundings. All had a great deal of natural light and fresh air with very comfortable furniture. The activities they plan regularly include everything from visiting local restaurant favorites, the public library and movies - to day trips in nearby areas. They have planned exercise classes - but also offer residents to work out any time they wish. There is a pool for aquatics and a full wellness center. The restaurant style dining area offers many delicious choices. The lunch we had was like you might find in an upscale diner. We could see that his mother would appreciate their menu options "“ since she's always enjoyed really good food. In fact, she's a great cook and we were told that she would be allowed in the kitchen as he wished. They also had a private dining room for friends and family to enjoy. The staff takes residents on weekly outings for shopping and entertainment "“ and they also take day trips for nature walks and other fun outings. This is a full service assisted living facility that offers residents flexibility and comfort. The staff is respectful and professional - yet kind and caring.

This facility provides meals on wheels (which are very good) as well as opening their very nice warm pool to the public for conducted exercises. Those whom I have talked to that live there are very pleased with the meals and the services provided to them.
