My sister is in rehab right now at Allendale Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. The upkeep is good, both inside and out. They're cleaning all the time, so I didn't have a problem with that. She likes the staff, she likes therapy, and she likes the people who do therapy. The nurses are good, too. It is just that there aren't enough of them. They play bingo, watch movies, play card games, and do crafting. They're pretty good about that. The dining area is fine, but the food is not that good. They don't necessarily have the staff to help everybody who needs help eating, and that bothered her a lot. She herself was okay, but when I've been there with her, I've noticed that there are people just sitting there because they can't feed themselves or need to be encouraged more. I even helped one lady eat some soup because no one else was there to help. They were helping, but there's not enough of them to help.

call light response time - from 30 - 45 minutes; served regular meals with regular liquids - while having orders for a restricted diet of nectar thin liquids and ground meat - causing increased risk of choking; upon entering pt's room during an early morning visit- pt presented face down while wedged between bed and wall - thus resulting in an impingement of the shoulder, and multiple pressure areas - that are indicative of pt being in that position for 2-3 hours. We transitioned our loved one to a different facility for her safety, and for peace of mind for the family. Please do your homework, and know that this facility has a medicare rating of 1 out of 5.

Better care would have been received at the dog pound. An aide was suspected of being verbally abusive to the patients, food quality was poor, call light response time was over an hour in several cases, and the nightly bed checks proved to be non-existent. The rehab services appeared to be adequate but the other care services were pathetic.Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The people are nice. It's short staffed like pretty much everywhere these days. I was there for a very short rehab time while in recovery from a fractured spine and alcohol withdrawals. I went to this facility after 8 days in the hospital. The room was decent. The facility overall seemed clean and in good repair. At least the little bit I saw of it anyway. I do have a few issues. One is response time to call lights. Over my short, five day stay the average response time was 15 minutes with my longest wait being 40 minutes. The meals are not very good quality, and the portions are very small. Also, upon discharge you have to make sure they do everything on their end. I had to have them call in a prescription for my pain meds which they said they had done. I discharged and went back to my town then went to the pharmacy about 2 1/2 hours later. There was no prescription. I called the facility and they had to deal with their physician, eventually calling me back and saying that they had "resent" the prescription. I puttered around the store for an hour finally going back to the pharmacy, still nothing. I called the facility again and again they said they would talk to the physician and let me know. They never called back. I went home and waited about four hours, then called the pharmacy. They confirmed that the prescription was in and would be ready very soon. Now mind you this was 8 hours after my previous dose of pain meds. I went back to the pharmacy where they asked me a curious question. They said, why did you see a doctor 3 1/2 hours away on the east side of the state. Well, it seems that the facility somehow had my prescription sent in from a traveling home health care group. Being that it's a narcotic, that of course raised a red flag to the pharmacy. It finally got ironed out after 2 more hours of waiting. I finally got my meds ten hours after my previous dose. I was in unmitigated pain. Overall, I give them a three based solely on the people's treatment of me, and the condition of the facility. All other aspects are bad aiming toward worse.

Best therapy hands down! My brother was a resident here after multiple falls at home. I have not seen him doing this well at home in years thanks to the great staff! Highly recommend.

The worst 12 hours of my life. I could not get out soon enough. I was admitted for several weeks of post-op rehab but the neglect (severe lack of night staff), lack of helping aids for rehab patients (no wheelchairs, no bars on bed, tiny toilets), and, most egregiously, no sign of a nurse until 6 hours after my arrival, propelled me to insist upon a 911 call to request an ambulance to take me back to hospital.

Allendale Nursing and Rehabilitation has been very good for my mom. We have been pleased. It is a nice clean place with pleasant people. The staff is onboard with everything. Everything seems to be good so far. The food looks OK, but it is not home-cooked. They have activities.
