    What to Consider About Memory Care in Cape May County

     Cape May County, located at the southern tip of the New Jersey coast, centers around the towns of Ocean City and Cape May. The state is estimated to have over 180,000 residents with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia, diseases that are especially prevalent among the 65 and older population.     • Although Social Security benefits are not subject to New Jersey income tax, withdrawals from IRAs and other retirement accounts are subject to a state income tax. This is on a sliding scale, with higher taxes for higher annual incomes. Families budgeting for a loved one's memory care may want to consider this
    • Cape May County is home to world-class medical facilities, including those specializing in brain health and dementia, such as Cape Regional Health System in the event of medical emergencies or illness.
