I am/was a resident of this facility

The only place that I have been in is Morningside at Juban Lakes. What I liked best was there were many areas where you could go sit and be indoors, especially since we have so much heat in the summertime in Louisiana. There were lots of places and we didn't even have to go outside to get to them. There were some on each floor and then there were several on the first floor. The apartments were nicely laid out. The doors open to the inside and not the outside of the facility, so it's like being in a hotel with the doors on the inside. The apartments weren't spacious, but they were livable. Everything seemed nice when I was moving in. I was excited about it. It was beautiful. It's brand new. But things changed as I stayed there. The only staff that's there is a maintenance guy and two people in the office, and one of them is the manager of the grounds. They seemed to be very friendly and accommodating at first, and it changed over time. They had a lot of events where we had food at the events, but they don't cook there regularly. They don't offer that option. The food was interesting. Most of the time it was in keeping with whatever the event was. We had a luau, and so we had crawfish, which is a Louisiana tradition. I was growing more concerned about the structure of the building while I was living there. There were a lot of cracks in the concrete and some of them were getting wider. Each floor was concrete flooring and there were some areas on the third floor where the cracks were big enough that you could put your hand in it. And to me, that says that there is something structurally wrong, and that was one of the main reasons that I decided I needed to leave. They need somebody in there that knows what they're doing to make some changes. There are only two elevators, and there's like 102 apartments, and that's not sufficient. You have three levels with roughly 35 apartments on each level. A lot of people are on level 2 and level 3 that won't get out if there is a fire and you have to go down the stairs. They don't even have a freight elevator for moving furniture or anything like that that you could use in case of an emergency. There were no plans for what to do if something happened and the elevators weren't working for some reason. With regards to activities, there's bingo and dominoes but they are run by the residents. They don't organize things except for the events. There's a big exercise room and it's nice, but there's nobody to teach anything in it. They have a couple of rooms where you could do yoga and things like that, but there's nobody that can give you lessons unless a resident would bring somebody in, but then the resident is responsible if anything happens. There's a great game room upstairs and they've got pool tables and tables to play poker, but there's never anything organized to do in there.
