Hammond-whiting Care Center

We're gonna keep mom at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center. So far, I cannot really give a good review on it because we're not able to go in there. Even when I signed up for my mom, we had no means of getting in there to talk with the staff. The staff was friendly and informative. One of the things I was concerned about is her trying to get out, and they told us they have electronic doors where they can't get out. At that time, they had zero infections as far as people that were exposed to COVID, but since mom has been in there, there have been six staff members that tested positive, and really there's not much we can do except making sure that no one is exposed to the Coronavirus, especially with her at her age. Communication has been good. Anytime there was an incident with my mom or any other issues, they were quick to respond, they give me a call and ask for my input. We had a little bit of communication problem when we were trying to tell them about mom's behavior in the evening because she had sundowners. They weren't giving her Xanax to calm her down because of that until they experienced it, and they said, "We have to do it." Our neurologist said he could not tell them what to do because they were no longer in his care. They were under the care of the Hammond-Whiting. I wish they have listened to us earlier instead of waiting for her to have her meltdown.

The Hammond-whiting Care Center is a very clean place that has a very active atmosphere. The person with whom I visited was happy and her room was clean.I stayed with my friend for a good part of her day and I observed that the Hammond-Whiting Care Center has a very friendly staff, happy and vibrant seniors who participate in many activities,and nutritious and hearty meals. Overall this place gets the thumbs up!!!
