"I went to Arabella of Longview. It was a nice place. Everything that I saw when we took our tour was wonderful. It was well-maintained. The rooms were nice, and we were interested in the 2-bedroom apartment. It was clean. The staff that I talked to were nice and helpful. The food was excellent. There are a lot of activities there. They had a theater, arts, cards, and dominoes."

"Parkview on Hollybrook was just too expensive. It was beautiful. The rooms were double occupancy. My cousin would have her own bedroom and bathroom, but they shared like a kitchen. The staff was very friendly. He even called me back a week later to see if I had any more questions. They had some games going on. They had bingo going on while I was there. They were also just finishing up some kind of an exercise class. They had a whole list of different activities."

"I went to look at Arabella of Longview. I like the environment, the surroundings, the cleanliness, and the upkeep of the facility. The apartments seem to be very sufficient for my mom. They have a recreational area, an on-site pharmacy, an eating area or dining hall, a common area, and a courtyard area."

"My husband has moved into Arabella of Kilgore Senior Living. It's three miles from my house. It's a beautiful facility. He has a nice room. The people there are very, very nice and very helpful. The food is okay. It's not the way I cook, but it's good. They have several programs during the day. When I go there to visit him, a lot of people are engaged in these programs, like games or doing things out in the dining room. My husband doesn't participate. He likes to stay by himself, though. It's kind of expensive, but it's a good place."

"My mother moved into Autumn Wind. I was impressed with the location. The atmosphere, staff, services, and food are fine. They have physical therapy, a computer room, and a beauty shop. The room I saw was fine too."

"I liked Buckner Westminster Place, but it's too expensive for me. It offered everything that I wanted. It accepted pets, it had covered parking for my car and it had all the meals and light housekeeping. I liked the lady during the tour. She was nice. The receptionist was nice too. There was a group of ladies having bible study. The main thing that impressed me was the closet space. The ones I've looked at had more closet space than the rest of them, and they had laminate floors instead of carpeting. With my two dogs, I don't want carpeting."

"Legends of Lindale only has independent living and no other levels of care. They have separate or stand-alone cottages, and it's like going down a little street in a small community. They are two-bedroom cottages with attached garages. They support the community to come up with different activities, so the residents can decide what they want to do. They have a walking group and there's a calendar that they put out. They had a big rec hall where the residents come in and it's like a neighborhood party. They have a community building or a clubhouse where you can go and do your potlucks or whatever you want to do. They also have transportation. When we just walked through the place, the residents said that when they propose something the community provides supplies or allocates money toward it. So everything is planned by the residents themselves. If they want to take a trip and enough people have signed up, they pool the money and take over, ordering a bus and planning all of it."
