"I was very impressed with Sumter Retirement Village. The rooms were large, theyre private rooms with walk-in showers, and it was nice. Everybody was very friendly, and they have been playing a game. They have a very large courtyard with gazebo-type shelters, screened porch, and they have a TV room. I think its a very nice assisted living facility. Its well-run and clean."

"I am a resident of Fellowship Home at Cotton Hill. The staff is very attentive, and most of them have been here for a long time. They've all been very helpful. The common areas are beautiful. They have a fireplace with a big screen TV above it. They have a very nice dining room, which is in the same room as the fireplace. They have a beautiful lobby and foyer with sofas, chairs, and tables. They have wonderful activities for residents every day, except the weekend. We had meals and church services on the weekend. The food is not always to my taste, and I'm a very picky eater, but other residents who've been here for a long time go to all of the meals. So, the ones that I eat are very good. They have bingo, arts and crafts, exercise, and they do walking. Every holiday they have a party. We had a big Valentine's party, and at Christmas, the staff drew our names and the staff gave us a Christmas present. It's a very home-like environment, and the staff care about the people who live here."

"My dad is in Calhoun Nursing Home for rehab, and it's going well. He likes it there. He likes everything about the place. He loves the food. The staff is really good. They call me with updates about him, if something's going on, they call me. They're really good. I talk to him often, and he hasn't had any complaints about anyone. Very clean. This is the second rehab that he's done since he came out of the hospital after his surgery. It's like, 90% better than the first one. He has a flat-screen that's on the wall and a private bathroom in his room. He has a dresser, two chairs, and a closet."

"This is without a doubt a great place. My husband is currently in rehad and I have never seen a friendlier staff. The cleanliness is great and they keep it nice. The food is about the best that I have tasted in a facility like this. Proper seasoning and just all around good food!!! A friendlier place will be hard to find!"

"My Aunt was a resident at Dawson Manor. I found the facility to be clean and well manage. I did not like the smell of the nursing home I felt as if more could have been done about the odor. My Aunt did seem comfortable and did not have any issue with her room. I found the staff to be very friendly and concern about my Aunts wellbeing. I did not see that the home offered a lot of activities for the patients. It would have been nice for the patients to go on trips or be able to participate in activities. Overall I think that the facility is ok because the place is clean and from what I observed the residents did appear to be happy and well taken care of. I would say they do need to improve on activities and trips of the residents. I feel they would appreciate getting out for a day on the town. "

"Before my mom decided to move to The Gardens, I would call and ask what she was doing. She would say “staring at four walls.” After moving to the Gardens she would tell me that she would call me back because she was doing something. 😃 I love that. Being a part of the Garden community has added years to her life. I can’t say enough good things about the people caring for my mom."

"My mother-in-law is in a geriatric ward in Medical Center Barbour. This facility is fine, and they're giving her what she needs. The staff is very nice and good. It's a hospital, and everything I've experienced there so far has been fine. "

"The physical facility itself was in good shape, and the furnishings, both in the entrance and in the common areas for the residents, were well maintained. The residents' rooms, even those that had some decoration, were very institutional and the feeling that one got was that more could be done to make the physical appearance more hospitable. There was throughout the areas where the residents' rooms were, a distinct bad smell. The staff seemed to be helpful to the residents, but there was also the feeling that some, while not neglected, could have received kinder treatment. The residents that I came into contact with were sometimes critical of the staff and the attention that they didn't get. They did provide the residents not only with care, but also games, activities, and visiting church groups, which could all be seen on calendars throughout the resident hallways. Some of the staff were bright and cheery, while other seemed to not have as happy a demeanor. Perhaps, this was due to overwork, or the nature of working in a caregiving facility. "

"Seymour Southern Comforts is very nice. It is comparable to where we put my dad. It is a smaller community, but it is very nice and seems to be very clean. They are very reasonably priced compared to other assisted living. The economy room is very nice. It's roomy enough for one person, and it has really good closet space. It also has windows where they can see outside. They have a lot of cheerful paintings on the wall, which is very nice."

"My great-aunt became a resident of Twin Magnolias Assisted Living. While looking for the facility that was the right choice for her, we toured Twin Magnolias. Eventually, we settled on this facility for my great-aunt due to its level of attention and care, as well as its familiar grounds for her, as she is from that town and has lived there for her entire life. The facility is very close to multiple doctors' offices, as well as a pharmacy and two grocery stores, so we could easily run errands for her when she needs help.There are staff members on hand to serve the residents' needs around the clock, and there is an emergency service vehicle station nearby in case someone needs to go to the hospital. Hospitals are not in the same town, but they are not far away, which was another reason for picking this place. The grounds and housing are not fancy, but they are clean and seem easy to find your way around, for patients with mental difficulties. My great-aunt's mind is not as strong as it was a few years ago, so this is a big plus for her. "
