"My dad and my sister were residents of Artesia Christian Home. The facility is spotless. They've got a good, great staff, and they're very accommodating. They had maybe a small bump in the road every once in a while, but other than that, things were fine. Their staff was excellent. They're very friendly. They're very quick to help in critical situations. We're just really pleased with them. They loved the food. The kitchen staff was excellent, too. They put on quality products. They've got a little open area of patios. If you want to meet your family there, they have a nice place for you to meet. They also have little meeting areas throughout the home. There's a nice, quiet neighborhood around there. So if you want to take a walk around the block, you can. My father used to do that quite regularly and he enjoyed it. They have Bible studies there. They have group activities. They bring people in throughout the month as far as there might be a Bible teacher who comes in, maybe motivational people. They do little exercise classes. They keep the residents busy. This is the thing about it. The folks were bathed. They're washed. They're dressed and they're ready at a time in the morning when they're serving breakfast. So, everybody comes out there, they're dressed, they're clean, and that's how they start your day. They got the staff doting over them for the rest of the day. They've got a little aviary. It's a big bird cage and they keep that very active. I love the variety of the little birds that they put in there. They have a little garden area if you want to grow some tomatoes or put something like that."

"A friend of mine, Jack, is currently at Del Amo Gardens. One of the things that I am really grateful for is that Jack likes certain food and they are willing to feed it to him every day. The place is very clean and well maintained. Their residents always look clean. They have a lot of elderly who need help, and it looks like they have enough staff who are helpful and call to tell me what he needs."

"The one that I may possibly end up taking is Motion Picture & Television Fund. It’s a home for people who worked at the motion picture industry. You had a lot of room for movement. You can go to the theater, and you can go to the different dining rooms. It had good, large grounds, and they have lots of entertainment. They allow you to have your own electric car and you can run along the grounds with your car so you’re not stuck inside. They have a lot of different things going on all the time. I could possibly afford it because they base it on what your income and your money is. If you don’t have a lot of money, they’ll give you the lowest-priced one and if you live a long time, any money you have left over, they’d take it. They have just the 1-room. The bed is always in an alcove where you don’t see your sleeping quarters, but I’m talking about the least expensive one. If you get really sick, they’ll put you in their own hospital there. Some people might go there and not have Alzheimer's but if they get it, they’ll move them to the Alzheimer's Center because they have a whole big area for their Alzheimer's people. "

"The Canterbury was a property that we had first visited last year when the need to find some place wasn't as pressing, and we were very impressed with it. The views were great. It was very nice and very clean. However, we did not like their meal plans. Their base rate included one meal a day, but all the apartments came with a full-functioning kitchen, too. My mom likes that idea, but my dad, myself, my sister, and my husband do not like the idea of my mom cooking because her mobility has diminished remarkably in the last few months. She can't cook and would need somebody there to help her. The Canterbury is more like senior living. There are some seniors that don't need any assistance and there are people that do need assistance. I think they have a small hospital ward. If someone has gone to the hospital and isn't quite ready to go back living on their own, they can stay in their rehab hospital section. So it's like full service. The staff was very informative and thorough."
