My brother is in Sterling Inn. He's renting an apartment in the independent living. They're still there if need be and they have staff on 24/7. They will do another assessment in six months to see how he's doing. At any time that they feel that he needs to switch over to assisted living, they will do so. He lives five minutes away from my niece. My great-niece goes to a school two buildings from him. It'll be convenient for her to go and see him say on Fridays after school and have dinner with him and stuff. The ratings are good. It's awesome. It has little areas where the family can come in and cook a meal and have dinner with them. In the apartment itself is an apartment refrigerator, a microwave, a sink, and kitchen cabinets. It's real convenient. The laundry facilities are completely free with the exception of you bringing your own laundry detergent and stuff in. Anybody can go in and do his laundry. If he's not feeling so great, he can call and they will bring him some food. If he doesn't show up for breakfast or lunch, they check on them. He has emergency cords in the apartment that he can pull at any time for assistance. It's phenomenal. It's decorated back in the day. It's got some old pickup trucks and all the movie stars. It's very tastefully decorated for the people who live there. My niece said the food is very good and they have variety. They don't just cook one thing for dinner and that's it. They have a couple of different things and they have a good salad area. They definitely have decent things. I was treated with the utmost respect. They took us into a nice room and sat us down and went over everything as far as the facility goes. They have a van that goes to stores on certain days. They have outings. They have really good services. It's very clean. We really, really are very happy with the choice. The staff is amazing.

I toured Sterling Inn. It was nice and clean. They were professional, and people were friendly and nice. Everyone there seems to enjoy being there. It just seems like a good place to go. The staff was very nice, very personable, and very knowledgeable. They have a gym. They have a card group. They have bingo. They had it all.

I went to Sterling Inn. I thought it was very nice. It was in a good neighborhood. But they were considerably more expensive than the other two facilities that I toured: And that's what I based my decision on. It was way too much. It's very clean and very organized. The staff was very helpful. They had a nice dining area and a nice menu. They had a beauty salon and a barber shop there. They had a large rec room with a piano and they did movies. The neighborhood grounds are very clean and the facility was clean.

The size of Sterling Inn is kind of impressive by way that the dining room is huge, and there's plenty of room for wheelchair access. The studio apartment is larger than I thought, and that would be what I was looking for. They usually have one available because they have so many of them. I don't know about the food because I didn't eat there, but there were a lot of people in the dining room. Sterling Inn is the best place I've ever seen. The place's physical condition is just sparkling.

Sterling Inn is very nice. Everybody seems to be very, very nice and the place is kept very clean. The food is really good. I've had a few meals there with my mom. The nurses were busy because when I would pick her up and bring her back, the door was locked, but that's not that big a deal. It took a few minutes to get someone there to unlock the door at night after 8:00, but that's also good because that means the security is good. The thing I like the most about the place is the cleanliness. It's very clean. We had mom in one facility before and it was not as clean, but at Sterling Inn, the memorabilia through the hallways is very, very nice. It was just a clean environment. The nurses and the people I've come in contact with were all very helpful, very nice, and very pleasant. When I call Mom, she's always busy doing something and she seems happy with most of the activities. I also know that walking through the hallways, people are kind of busy. So, the activities look good. They got everything you want and everything you need and they are a lot cheaper than the other one my mom had before, but she had a two bedroom on the other one, so that's probably why. At Sterling Inn, she just has a studio, which is nice, and so far the cost has been great as far as we're concerned. It's in her budget.

The apartments are so cute. Some have stoves, others just a mini fridge and microwave. I was told Sterling inn was built over 30 years ago but the place is so pretty and well kept, it's hard to believe it. The staff is friendly and our tour guide, Misty was absolutely wonderful. She was so welcoming, patient and, kind. She knew every patient we came in contact with and greeted them all by name. Everyone seemed so happy.

I toured Sterling Inn for my mother-in-law, and I saw the assisted living and the independent living. The staff was wonderful. When we walked around and the staff was showing me around, she was talking to people. Some of the residents were inside their apartments, but they had their doors open, and she'd walk by, and she said hello with their names in there. She knew everybody's name. Everybody just seemed to be so friendly, even the residents were very friendly. They had puzzles, and TV rooms, and they showed movies. They had church services in certain little areas, too. They had exercises as well. They also had certain days that they would go out, take you to the bank, or whatever if you needed to. You just had to sign in this little book. The whole month was filled up. There was no idleness.

The tour I had with Sterling Inn was excellent. The tour person was super nice and very informative. She showed me many different rooms, different options, and she was well informed about the prices. She accommodated me and showed me the whole facility, but what impressed me the most was her knowledge of the residents, too. She would say 'hi' to them and it shows that the people were very happy there. It was a very nice facility. Even though it was built in the late 50s, I could tell they remodeled it constantly to keep it in a nice condition. So, I was impressed. They had many community rooms and there were different activities you could do. The courtyard was really nice with a really good view of the city. They have studios where there's a bed, a microwave, refrigerator, counter space, a desk area, a handicapped bathroom with a low threshold shower, as well as heating and air. They have a full-blown one-bedroom apartment, which was a lot of money, but reasonable for them. Their dining area was cafeteria-style. It's very nice and very well put together. Either you'd have a waiter or you could walk up and get your food. The residents were eating and they looked happy. They had a barbershop, a reading room, a game room, and laundry facilities, but some of the rooms have a washer-dryer, some of them don't. They have salon facilities, an activity board, and a conference room. The maintenance was excellent. The parking lot was excellent. The cafeteria workers, the receptionists, and the nursing staff were very friendly and very nice.

Sterling Inn was a very clean and nice place. The staff who gave the tour was professional and informative. They have different card games. They have a pool table, and then they have a gym that's set up for senior people. The rooms are nice, but they're not furnished. You have to furnish them. I would have to be the one to furnish it for my dad. They basically supply a refrigerator or microwave, and that's pretty much it. The staff who assisted me was very nice. It was a bit expensive.

Sterling Inn was a nice place, like a 5-star hotel. The staff seemed nice, kind, and professional. They fed me that day, and it was very good. They have plenty of things there to do. They also have a day room and a chapel. Something that really impressed me was a parlor where you can go get your free ice cream, free sodas, popcorn, and things like that covered under your rent. I thought that was pretty cool. They had an exercise room and a large room with a kitchen in it, where you can do all the cooking that you want. If the room that you're renting doesn't have a kitchenette or kitchen, you just cook in there. There's an exercise room. They also have a chapel there.

Sterling Inn Assisted Living Community was very nice; we liked it. The staff that walked us through was excellent and the facility itself was excellent. The rooms that they have were beautiful. There's a lot of things going on to get involved, and they have very friendly people. They have an exercise room. They have a dining room, places to play games, and all kinds of stuff. It's in a very good location.

My mother-in-law is happy at Sterling Inn. She was stressed out going there, but she's happy now. It's a clean and nice senior community. They have a lot of activities for them. They have different things going on for them every month. She likes it. She's at the highest level of care. The staff is good except for one nurse, but everybody else is nice. Where she's at is just a bedroom, bathroom, and a closet. It's a little studio apartment. They have different exercises scheduled, ice cream socials, a pool table, bingo, and all sorts of games. They have people come in to entertain them and interact with them. They will either take them to shopping or also to the doctor. They now just allowed people to come in to visit them, but there's an age bracket and they only allow a certain amount of people per week. They kind of minimize the interaction with them. When you walk in, they still take your temperature and monitor. If that beeps, you can't go in and you have to leave. They still have precautions. All in all, they're very attentive to her needs, so we appreciate it. I haven't tried the food, but she eats everything (and she's a very picky eater). I haven't really walked around the whole building just because I haven't really been able to. It's pretty accessible to all the activities. She likes bingo. I never myself have participated in any of that stuff, but she likes it. They were the most reasonable one for the type of care she needed.

I was involved in moving my very good friend to Sterling Inn, whom is an Army Silver Star and Purple Heart recipient. All of the staff is friendly, especially his caregiver, Christy (I believe that's her name). This lady is beyond amazing. I have never seen anyone that worked so hard and always with a smile. I have had the pleasure of dining with my friend on a few occasions and the food they are served is top notch. I am thankful that my friend is getting the respect and the care that he deserves. Good job.

Sterling Inn is more expensive than our current community, but it's very nice. I like that it can take people from 65 and up, all the way through all the problems that come up as we get older, like nursing and that kind of thing. The community is a little more extravagant. They had done a lot of remodeling not too long ago, which really made it nice. They put fireplaces in some of the rooms, and that's above and beyond to me.

Sterling Inn was a very nice place. However, we couldn't afford it. It was $500 more a month just to have a nurse give my sister's medication. The staff members were very nice; however, they didn't spend a lot of times with us because they knew we couldn't afford. They cater to people that have quite a bit of money. Nevertheless, if you can afford it, I would highly recommend it.

Sterling Inn is very friendly, the service is great, and the food is really good. I ate a couple of times there, and they assigned certain food to eat, so there wasn't a lot of choices. We had to supply most of her furniture except the dresser and the TV. Her room was really nice, large, and clean. They keep the residents busy and active, like with bingo for example.

Sterling Inn was a very nice place. I could see both my husband and myself living there at some point. It had up-to-date, modern everything. They showed us a one-bedroom that was very spacious for two people. The accommodations were like a hotel. It was gorgeous and had enough room where you could be out of your room all day and not feel like you were closed in.

My mother is in Sterling Inn, and her care is OK. The staff doesn't seem to be responsive. She found the food too fatty and too salty. Her one-bedroom is very nice and has a kitchenette. They need to improve their responsiveness and ability to handle special diets.

We were satisfied with Sterling Inn. The home was very clean, upscale, and very attractive, not depressing or institutional. We were pleased with the way it looked. It was a very clean, very nice-looking, attractive place. We would recommend it. The staff members were caring and respectful. They knew what to do when things get worse.

Sterling Inn was nice but much more expensive compared to the others we saw. The rooms were very nice, bright, and clean. The common areas were probably the nicest ones we saw. The people were very friendly. I liked that they had an ice cream shop in the main lobby, which made it look like an upscale hotel and added a really nice touch. The atmosphere was very nice.

Sterling Inn was OK but not a good fit for my mother. It had people needing more assistance than her, and a lot of people were in wheelchairs. It's more like a facility than a home. It was a very nice and clean place but just not for us.

My grandfather has lived here since December of 2013. The facilities are beautiful and they decorate for every holiday. They provide places for families to come and celebrate, as well as shuttles and many events. Unfortunately, my grandfather has declined due to dementia and they have done their very best to assist him at this facility so that he does not have to go over to the Commons. I'd refer anyone's family member to live here; however, I think you get the most of your money when you are capable of interacting with others and utilizing all the extras that they provide (lunch out, movies, shuttle trip to mountains/casino, bingo, etc.).

I wasn't really happy with how some of the staff treated my grandmother, and she was 96. They were clean enough. The younger girls were great. It was the people that were in the office -- like the activities director -- that were stuck up. They were too cool to take a minute to talk to you. It wasn't just me trying to talk to them; it was my nana talking to them. She had lost her key, the younger girls had told her what she needed to do, and when we went to go report the key, the lady wasn't that nice at all. Her room was nice. It had a sliding door, and she could go outside to the little porch, which she liked. They didn't clean the room though; the family would clean the room. It wasn't until she was ready to go that they started paying attention to her. They wouldn't even know if she was in the room or not. They had a room where they had bowling -- which the seniors liked -- and it was a computer type thing, but there wasn't much more than that. They weren't all that friendly. Sterling Inn cost a lot more money, and you would think that they would be nicer.
Provider Response
We appreciate the opportunity to address the concerns that you have expressed regarding your friend and adoptive “nana”. She was a delightful resident, very sweet, and always happy. She was socially outgoing and enjoyed interacting with both residents and staff every day. Her family members, who live locally, spoke frequently with staff and expressed appreciation directly to us for the care she received while with us. We have a very busy calendar of activities available to residents and Wii bowling is just one of many. Whether scheduling special music, shopping, indoor games, exercise or transportation to local amenities, our activity director is a vibrant part of our professional staff and provides all types of options for residents at Sterling Inn. That said, residents can choose what to participate in, and are never forced to attend. Housekeeping is scheduled weekly, but family members often enjoy the opportunity to continue helping out in many aspects of their parents’ lives. All of our staff at Sterling Inn consider the care of our residents our first priority and welcome the opportunity to talk directly with family members when any issue arises.

Sterling Inn is on a desert so you see desert views. The people are very nice; they know their residents and their names. They do have several floors. They also have an Alzheimer's unit that is located in a different building, so that’s helpful if that should happen. It starts off at $4000 and goes up from there. In the formal dining room, they have a sitting arrangement so that you always get the same waitress or waiters everyday. That makes it very comfortable because they know how you like your food, and you make a relationship with them. That person will be assigned to you and 4 other people and they’ll be responsible to make sure you get the foods that you like and will know if it’s a special diet or not. The rooms are very nice. They have several floor plans like you can get a 1-bedroom or a bedroom with a studio or a 2-bedrooms and 2-bathrooms. They’re well lit. You also have your own thermostat control. You have your own refrigerator, a stove, and a sink. It’s like a small kitchenette including the microwave. You can decorate your apartment as you wish, and the furniture inside the facility is very nice and kept up. They have a lot of social events. They have bridge, Wii bowling, and bingo. They have crafts in the crafts room, and they supply all the material. They’ll invite another care facility to come and visit. They’ll come by bus, everybody will have their own T-shirts, and they have a competition between the two of them. During the holidays, they have people that do a lot of volunteer work; they play music, and they dance.
