"We chose Splendor Valley for my mother. They'll do anything she wants to do. They take really good care of her. I've gone to see her several times, and I've been very happy with it. This is a small house with, I think, 6 people. And they have caretakers and the owners, Mark and Marissa, live on-site. So, there's always a lot of people around. They get her dressed and she goes and sits in the family room combination kitchen. She always gets to watch people, which is what she likes. Other people have families come and go, and she just gets to see everything. They get her up, they help her shower and get dressed. They give her her meals and her medication. They do everything for her. The place is very, very nice. They have a gazebo where she can go outside. And if she has guests, you can sit outside with her. I looked at a lot of places, and this is by far the nicest. She just has a small room. It does have a door that she can open out to the gazebo, which is very nice. She has her La-Z-Boy chair and her hospital bed. She has her large TV, but she likes to go watch TV out in the family room. There's another lady that sits out there and watches TV with her."

"Vista Gardens Memory Care was great. My husband stayed there just for three weeks. I'm very impressed with the facility in general, and the outdoor facilities for the residents were exceptional. The staff was excellent. They're very welcoming and caring. I was just very happy with them overall. I didn't have a lot of direct experience with the food, but I saw menus. The dining room was beautiful and very spacious. They offer a variety of things for the residents. They're not restricted to one choice every day. It's restaurant-style and the residents can order whatever they like. The facility was beautiful. It's 12 years old, and it's very neat, clean and homey. When you're there for respite care only, it's maybe a little bit more expensive than if you were there on a full-time basis, but for peace of mind and overall care, it's worth it to me. They have a huge outdoor space for the residents. They have an actual park on their premises and a raised garden bed."

"What we really liked about Arcadia Place was the fact that you could walk out of your own apartment onto a patio, so you felt more like you were in a house that you could walk out of rather than going through a hallway to the main entrance. The staff was very friendly and interested in us as people. It was really a good tour. We liked the structure of the building, we liked the centralized location of activities within the building, and it was very clean. The rooms were a good size. I especially liked the bathroom. It wasn't just kind of a closet bathroom. It was a nice size."

"Rancho Vista Senior Living is a nice place. It's like a resort. If you don't like what's planned for the day, you can order a la carte. You can get a cheeseburger, a hot dog, or whatever you want. They take you places. They take you to the Padres. They have day outings or they take you to the grocery store. My mother-in-law wouldn't be confined. Alma was very sweet and answered any questions. I was impressed by her. They have a movie room, a library, and a grand piano in the dining room, so they have entertainment on Friday nights. They have a nice big fireplace in the dining room. It's very clean."

"My mother was at Lone Oak Villa for five years. In that time she had many people helping her. They were all knowledgeable and caring. They became friends and knew what she needed and liked. The owner of the facility is very accommodating and strives to make everything comfortable and run smoothly. "

"My initial tour of Shadowridge Senior Living was fine, but it was rushed because we called at the last minute and they said the person who was giving the tour was busy. So, a nurse took us. She was super nice and showed us everything. The place seemed new. It had been redone, so it was light and bright. I went back with my mom because I had signed her up. She would have gotten a shared room. It was big, but it was dark and it was upstairs. They had an activity room. The day we went, the residents were playing bingo. The dining room seemed nice and bright, with tablecloths on the table. The facility seemed clean, but it seemed cramped once you got upstairs. I gave the salesperson the information she requested about my mom's medical records, but I never heard from her again. "

"My parents are moving into Brookdale San Marcos. One reason we chose it is that they offer respite care, which is kind of like a temporary situation. The other factor is the staff there is just amazing, super nice, and very accommodating. Everyone we met from the cleaning people, to the kitchen staff, to the executive director, were fabulous. They have a little store, a pool, and a Jacuzzi. They have a nice courtyard, like an outdoor space. They offer seven day transportation, three meals a day, laundry, and housekeeping. They have a little library. There is a little salon where you can get a haircut, a pedicure, and stuff like that. I think all those are really nice. It is not super fancy, but it is clean."

"My room is a palace. Love the staff they are respectful great price for location. I have a cat who our staff is good to. I like the fact I'm on the first floor. Food is pretty good sometimes better than others. Fresh fruit is a must. Bingo is my best activity art class I love because I’m a artist. They have a gym, pool, and daily activities which keep all the residents engaged and happy. Their restaurant has a very diverse menu which also changes daily. The food is very good and their staff and chef are aways on hand to help in any way they can.
