I found Crossroads Manor for my mom and she moved in. This is a home environment, it's a six-bed facility run by a husband and wife. It's just more homey, and I couldn't bear to put her back into a skilled nursing facility. It's been an adjustment for her, but it seems like she's getting used to it. The people there are wonderful, the house is beautiful, I would have been there if there weren't so many old people there. It seems to be good, she's up and moving around more, she's only been there a little bit, so she's adjusting. He sends me pictures every day of their lunch, breakfast, and dinner. They have the big meal at noon, and then they have sandwiches for dinner. When I asked her yesterday what was for dinner, she said, "Probably sandwiches." But they had corned beef and cabbage and carrots and potatoes for lunch. It's just an adjustment for her because she's used to a bigger dinner and a smaller lunch. He sends me pictures every day of her walking, videos of her walking. I get updates every day of what's going on there, and I love it, I think it's wonderful. It's very clean, it's not crowded, there's no hospital bed, and just an overall all homey feeling. I wanted a home for my mom. They celebrated St. Patrick's Day yesterday, everybody got their bibs and hats, pictures were taken, and it was kind of a party environment. I know that they take them on walks, I don't know that Mom's been on one yet. In her wheelchair they take them outside, and put them in the sun.
