"We're going with this community. The staff was on it. I like the better vibe. There was more happening there, and there was more staff there than in the other place. It's in the town where we live, so that's a big factor. It smelled good. I didn't smell mothballs when I walked in. They seemed professional, including the nurse I talked to. It was really clean and inviting. People were mingling around. It was alive. It had some music playing. It was a great atmosphere. They had a nice patio garden in the back. I didn't go out there, but I live by it; I see it all the time."

"I toured CedarStone Senior Living. It was very nice. I was very surprised because I had not seen the building back there much larger than I thought. They have lots of rooms available with an elevator to get to the other floors. The room comes furnished, and someone helps the patient get to cafeterias or activities. The staff was very personable. We talked about various things as we toured. She showed me all three floors and answered questions I might have had at the time, and we had a snack and a drink there."

"Bickford of Cedar Falls is a beautiful place, and everybody is wonderful over there, but it is apartment-type living, and my husband would be in there by himself with somebody just coming in to check on him, and that type of thing. However, he is diabetic, he is a double amputee, and he has neuropathy in his hands, so it is hard for him to pick up anything or do something for himself. He has so many different things that he need helps with, that assisted living is not enough for him. For people who need assisted living and qualify for assisted living, I think it's a beautiful place. Everybody is friendly. They want to help, and they took me on a beautiful tour. It just didn't fit my husband's needs. He needs more than assisted living. The people who assisted me during the tour were wonderful. They answered all my questions. They showed me everything that they do there, their activities, their apartments, and their dining room. If my husband were to qualify for assisted living, that would be a place that I would think about putting him."

"My dad is in Maple Manor Village for rehab. They are taking good care of him for the amount of staff that they have. Everybody's shorttaffed these days. All in all, I would say he's getting good care. I'm a little disappointed that they only do physical therapy once a day for about 30 minutes. It's up to him to push this button and have them come in and get him up to walk. It's a typical nursing home; it's sad. They were trying to do remodeling, and then the pandemic hit. At one point a few weeks ago, there were only like 24 residents, and there were three CNAs with one nurse on each shift. It stretches them a little thin too. He doesn't have any complaints about the food. The cook's takes pretty good care of dad. The reason why we want to get him out of there is because as of today, the rates went up. For moderate care, it's over $1000 a month. His rehab is covered by Medicare and his insurance, which is a wonderful thing. If he would be to become a full time resident, it would be 8000 a month. I think the staff try as hard as they can."

"I am at Parker Place. They're good. It's roomy. I've got no complaint about the cleanliness and the staff. They are compassionate, concerned and they seem to be doing a good job, as far as I can tell. We have a library with books, games, and puzzles. We have an exercise class four days a week. We have a church service on Wednesdays. We have an activity nearly every day, a craft item, a baking item, or something like that. The food is good, well prepared, the servings are more than adequate, and it's nutritionally balanced."

"My sister is in Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community. They haven't had COVID. From the help to the residents and everything, I have been very, very pleased so I can give them the very best rating. I find them very professional and very warm. My twin had to be taken to the hospital and the follow-up was very good. They keep me informed, and I only have positive things to say. They're four years old but very nice, very clean, and aesthetically pleasant. The cooks are outstanding, too. I only hear from staff, my twin, and the residents and they say the food is very good. I'm not familiar with all the activities my twin participates in. They have a calendar with monthly, daily, and weekly activities. I have been all over. Not only familiar with here, but other areas and all of them do the best they can, but we are deeply pleased with our choice."

"My mom is in assisted living at Leahy Grove. It is a small town and a small place. It's pretty much for older people at least 80 years or older, so it's not a place I am looking to go. I just want a retirement living. It's very, very nice, but not right now, with COVID. They do a lot with residents. It's a small town, so a lot of people that work there know them all, and the meals are very good. They do a lot with the residents, and they keep them busy. They get them out of their apartment. They don't let them just sit in there. My mom was in the college football and college basketball, and they have a community TV where they've got a whole sports thing and they always turn the TV on for her to that channel whenever she wants to watch. They have some cable in their rooms, but not the sports channel, so they had to get out at least into the community living room with the one big TV. They do a lot for them."

"The place is nice and clean, but their office girl, Jessica is rude and says she is helpful, but really isn't. She likes gossip and talking about others. It was hard to be a family member there. If they would screen their employees better, it would be a better place. But the food is good, the people there are nice, the residents are good, clean people. "

"Cedar Falls Health Care Center's staff is very caring, and they're taking good care of my father-in-law. The residents play bingo and do exercises by moving their arms. The staff treats the residents well, and they have three meals. The staff is taking care of his needs. The staff is very helpful, attentive, and caring. We were there one night, and they brought his supper to his room. "

Welcome to Western Home! Two campuses in Cedar Falls offer you a choice in distinctive living. The legacy campus in our original location builds on the charm and character of historic downtown Cedar Falls, just a few blocks away. Nestled among tree-lined streets and next to recreational trails for walking and bicycling, residents enjoy a peaceful neighborhood with easy access to local restaurants, boutiques, services and churches. The downtown campus includes Willowwood independent living, Stanard Family Assisted Living and Martin Center, as well as the business office. South campus is 150 acres between South Main Street and the recently completed Prairie Parkway. The growth and expansion of our campus matches that of the surrounding neighborhood, where medical clinics, dental offices, banks, credit unions, bustling retail areas and restaurants are all nearby – a short walk or even shorter drive. South campus includes the independent living communities of Windgrace, Windermere, Windcove, Windridge and the soon-to-open Prairie Wind, plus Windhaven Assisted Living, Thalman Square Memory Support Assisted Living, and The Cottages for dementia care, plus nearly 200 villas and townhomes for active lifestyles .To learn more about this provider’s license and review other available state reports, please visit: Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals Health Facility Database

"Western Home Communities is a very large campus. It has everything. It has memory care, assisted living, and private homes as part of the campus. It's very, very, very well kept. You wouldn't have to leave the community to do anything; it has everything on site. I think the price is relative to what they offer, so, it's relatable and understandable for what they charge. It's a very, very nice place. And it's more for people who like to be more social and more active in the community. However, it wasn't appropriate for my brother. He is more of a small community kind of person. He doesn't do well in big crowds. He would have been majorly overwhelmed at Western Home. I couldn't say a bad thing about Western Home; it just wasn't the right choice for my brother's personality. I've eaten in one of their dining areas before, and they have excellent food. They have their own mini store and gym and all these things you would never have to leave."

"I toured Willow Winds Assisted Living for myself. I was shown the bedroom, the large open dining area, a small library, and then a small room for sitting. I really didn't see much of the facility, and I was really disappointed with it. I did not feel comfortable with this place. The staff who gave me the tour was not very personable. I was just given a very brief explanation on things. Overall, the staff was not open and friendly. They also have no transportation for their residents."

"Windermere offers just about everything a person needs. Right now, it's difficult for them to keep up as far as hiring people for different reasons, but mainly it's because of COVID. Other than that, it is a comfortable place. There are activities here and meals are included in a monthly payment or you can opt to buy if you would like. They have very nice homes to purchase if you would like. They also have a fitness center, a swimming pool, a restaurant, a sports bar, and a lot of activities going on. They have outside pickleball courts that they just built and just a number of items that are beneficial primarily for the independent people."

"I'm staying at Windhaven Assisted Living and it's a nice place. There are many different buildings out here and right now, ours is being renovated and it's not done yet. It'll be nicer when it's done. I'm in their assisted living now and I have a 1-bedroom apartment. It's very nice, clean, and painted. They take care of everything. The staff is also very good. We've had a new food service manager so the food's been changed a little bit, but I think it'll be fine when it's done. We have activities every day except Saturday and Sunday. There are book clubs, exercises, and games. I think I'm getting my money's worth."

"Arlington Place of Grundy Center is a very nice, clean community. They have very caring staff who check on my mother a lot and are very good. She likes the food and really likes that she doesn't have to cook anymore. They do some games a lot of the afternoons and also have music. Her room is very nice, and I think the place is very good. The price is pretty high, and I wish it's a little less."

"The tour we had at Birdee Cottage Assisted Living & Memory Care was good. It was very clean and had a very new feeling. The patio was very pretty. They've got some flowers and pumpkins. It was just very pleasant out there. We liked that it's kind of small and that it's family-oriented. The people seemed to be very nice. The staff who assisted us was very, very pleasant and knowledgeable. They could furnish the room for you if you want, or you can bring in your own stuff. The one thing that was kind of off putting is we didn't see any of the other residents around."

"Nora Springs Care Center was very homey, and they've got very efficient but spacious apartments. There was an open kitchen connected to the living area, and a large bedroom with accessible shower. It was very bright and it has its own patio. They offered help with bathing and other things needing assistance. They're very gracious and friendly. They had a community dining room and they had activities that can be done on the assisted living side or on the care center side. They had a van that can take you to your doctors' appointments, and there was a little grassy backyard connected between the assisted living side and the nursing home side."
