"My mother moved into Caccam's Stanton Residence. The care they provide to her is great, and we're very happy. The staff who work there is great, we're very pleased with all of them. Her room and the whole community are clean. If family members visit, they have a living room or they can go to their room."

"My aunt and uncle like the Varenita of Simi Valley very much. The food is top-notch gourmet. The staff members are very observant and very caring. We have been impressed with their attentiveness to the residents. For instance, my aunt had ordered shrimp served on a bed of fettuccine. She has Parkinson's so she had trouble cutting the shrimp to bite-sized pieces. Someone noticed it and said, 'Would you like some help with that, ma'am?' She said, 'Sure.' So little things like that make a big difference. The staff members are very friendly. Everybody from the maintenance guys to the front desk, to the aides that come, and to the nurse that comes to deliver the meds are all fabulous. Everybody in the dining area is fabulous, too. Even the guy that does the table is great. They have a bunch of entertainment and activities. I haven't observed much in that regard, but I've seen some of the musical groups that come and perform. My aunt and uncle are still getting settled in, but I know they'll participate more once they get settled in. They get a list every day of what's going on, and the list seems nice. You get what you pay for. They also have appliances in their room. They have a refrigerator, a microwave, a little two-burner cooktop, and a stackable washer and dryer. If they choose, they could do their weekly laundry on a regular basis. If they need something from a pharmacy, the CVS is right there with other restaurants. They have an in-house salon, and there are some shopping centers that they can walk to, so it's also unique in that regard."

"Ivy Park at Simi Valley was very nice. It was excellent. It's very, very good. The staff was excellent. They called everybody by name. It looked good. It was very nice and very well-kept. It was very friendly. The size and the layouts of the rooms were comparable to others. They were good. The dining area was very nice, too."

"I toured Porter Ranch Garden for my father. It was okay but the location seemed kind of run down. They seemed clean, but it was a pretty beaten-up house. They seemed engaging and the person that gave me the tour was very informative. The rooms were okay and pretty basic. They weren't great and the cost was higher than what I said we could afford. She told me four thousand and that was a no. I saw the room and the living space area in the backyard. The living room was okay. In the backyard, there was a patio, and it was kind of rundown. The cost seemed high for the place and needed an upgrade or of keeping things up to date."

"Royal Palms was an amazing community with very nice people. The activities were pretty good, according to the patients. The staff seemed to be very attentive to what they needed and looked like they were very well taken care of. It seemed like a well-kept community. They kept up the rooms very well. The people seemed to be having a great time with the staff."

"I toured. When you walk in the door, it smells amazing. There was a very nice person at the front desk. The salesperson who I spoke to who gave me the tour was very personable and very thorough, and he showed me a lot of different choices. They do have a parking lot on the side to the back. The dining room was nice. It's a big one. The food looked amazing and smelled amazing. The units that I saw were nice. I saw a shared one and a private one, and I liked it. They do a lot of activities. The people seemed very happy. I met some of the staff, and they were very nice. They do have that fee that you have to pay, a community fee, the $3,000 or whatever it is, but he tries to work with you on that. They don't have a kitchenette, certain ones have a little area for you to have. It doesn't come with a refrigerator, so you have to have your own. It was an older building but everything was clean. The units were very clean, and some of them had a patio, and some of them didn't. They have a lot of trees around there, so the grounds are well-kept."

"Oakmont of Simi Valley seemed very nice. They had a neat little window box outside of every room in the memory care where family could put items that belonged to that person, like an award, pictures of grandchildren, or something they made. They also had a huge radius where they would transport their residents for free. Everyone we encountered was very nice. Their food was delicious. They're gourmet. And they have a proprietary beverage with their own label on it that their chefs come up with. It was like an apple drink, and it was very good and all organic. The structure of the building was beautiful, too. They had activities going on in different rooms."

"We went to look at Vista at Simi Valley. They supply meals, snacks, and complete care. It's expensive but affordable. The rooms satisfied all the needs of the residents. They offer tours to various places quite often. They have a separate dining room for guests, which they will serve meals to. They supplied lunch and a tour when we were there."

"Twin Palms was excellent. It was very clean and the staff was good as far as I could see. The owner was very accommodating, very kind, and very knowledgeable. This was one of the top communities on my list. I even have referred it to other people. It's a board and care; they have like five or six people. It's very nice and with a beautiful backyard for a barbecue. Everything looked like it was a nice place to live."

"Ivy Park at Wood Ranch was very clean. The employees were very friendly. Many of them have been there for a long time, so they're tenured. There were a lot of activities that were posted for the residents. They had exercises and scenic road trips where they would take the residents and classes. I saw a double room so you could rent both places. You could have it almost like a studio apartment where you had a space for the bedroom and then there was another area that was also a bedroom, but instead of it being set up as that, it was set up as a small living room. It had a TV, a small coffee table, and a loveseat. The room also had a small kitchenette. The facility was beautiful. It offered a great little courtyard area where the residents could sit outside, and enjoy some sunshine. It was a safe environment for them."

"My mother-in-law was in Ivy Park at West Hills. She went into the memory care unit. It's great. We loved everything about Ivy Park. The people care. It was a really beautiful setting. The process was easy. The food was fantastic, and they will make whatever you want to eat, which was great because my mother-in-law wouldn't eat certain things. It was nice that they had such a flexible menu and good food, and just genuinely caring, very kind people, and it wasn't very expensive. It's a really good value, and it's a wonderful, warm place. It feels more like a home than a hospital facility. Her room was wonderful, nice and spacious. The people were super respectful coming in and out. The activities were wonderful. We're still connected to them. My daughter made friends with one of the women who lived there. They have a courtyard and a nice dining room and living room where people can gather. They have a big veranda where people are always sitting under the oak trees. They have a big living room where they play cards and games, and watch movies. They have a movie theater and a salon. They have everything in this really sweet little package. They're genuinely caring. Their chef, Larry, is amazing. They'll make whatever you feel like eating. It's cozy. It's inspiring. There's art on all the walls. It's super clean and friendly. They always have cookies baking, so the place always smells like cookies. The activities were great. They had singing, they had outings, and they were always playing games. There's always something to do, but you don't have to participate if you don't want to. It's such a good value for everything you get. It's amazing."

"My husband resided at Lily's board and care: "Be Happy, Be Home. ". He was well taken care of, always clean. He had Alzheimer's and could not walk but was able to stay in the wheelchair all day. Facility was also always clean. Lily was very helpful with every concern I had. She participated in the phone conferences with his doctors: his primary care physician, as well as his neurologist and cardiologist evaluating his daily meds. The Home Health helped do the labs when he had a UTI as well as having a physical therapist to help him to walk. When we found out he had skin cancer(melanoma), Lily helped arrange all the transportation accompanying us to the dermatologist as well as the trips to Cedars Sinai for the surgery in Santa Monica. Surgery was a success. He had a very nice roommate who kept him company as they watched the Dodger games in the evenings. They even had a birthday party for his 89th birthday for him.. Lily was very helpful in arranging for a smooth hospice help when it was time. She was wonderful."
