"I like Real Care LLC. They were able to renovate the hotel, and they did a great job. The staff was very friendly. The thing that I think I liked the least about it was the fullness of the residents. They did not have very many residents who lived there, and so I was concerned about my father-in-law not getting enough interaction. It also looked like their residents would eat in the main entry. They have some small cafe tables set up, so that is also probably the thing that I like the least about that facility. The staff members were wonderful. The facility was really nice, but it's in a location that is known for homeless people and drug use, and so that was a drawback. The inside was beautiful. They did a great job. It was clean, decorated, and very nice. The room seemed very spacious, too. It's just that the location was just a hang-up for me. Nevertheless, they were great, and it was very clean and pretty inside."

"We toured Redwood Senior Living Bakersfield. It was secure, and the ladies who were giving us the tours were very friendly. They answered all our questions. Everybody was nice. We walked by, and they would all say hello. They seemed like they were all nice people. They showed us one room, and it was very clean. The hallways were clean, but there was no toilet in the room that I saw. The size of the rooms and the layout were okay, like any other place, but my brother didn't like the idea of sharing a room. I told him that's the way it is. The atmosphere felt like I was in a hospital setting."

"When we found Paradise Gardens, we found the answer to our prayers. Mom was needing more help, more often, than we were able to provide. Paradise Gardens was a lovely, loving home, but more importantly, she was safe and secure. She was with other nice, elderly people, and everyone there took good care of her. She had a big beautiful private bedroom, surrounded by all her own belongings, and three delicious meals each day. Mom called the staff her angels. We can never give enough thanks and appreciation for the peace of mind we had in knowing that Mom herself was at peace in the wonderful Paradise Gardens. "

"Bella Vita Senior Living was very peaceful. They were accommodating for meals because they were serving both lunch and breakfast. They had a very nice area outside in the backyard, and it was a very quiet community. Even though it's right next to a high school, they said they don't hear a lot of commotion or noise going on in that area. The bathroom for the single room which my wife would have would be separate. It was in a hallway just outside the door. A drawback with that smaller facility is that my wife has many and frequent visitors, which they didn't approve of. In talking to the manager, because my wife is aggressive and with one person at nighttime, they felt that she wouldn't fit there. Being a small facility (there were only three residents there, but they could have five or six in total), to have that one caregiver give all the attention to my wife needing more attention, she wouldn't have enough to take care of others. There are three other bedrooms and most of them had a bath between two rooms. The room that my wife would probably go into would have a bath outside. It had a large countertop area next to the kitchen and a kitchen table next to it. There was plenty of room for them to get in and out, plenty of seating, and they had a large screen TV that they were playing music on at the time and they could watch movies. One of the guests had just finished his breakfast at noontime, so he went and sat in a chair and the gal went and got him a blanket just to make sure he didn't get cold and so he could settle in there and be relaxed. They shared that they could be back in their rooms any time they wanted or come out any time they wanted. If they didn't like the meal they served, they would have alternatives to feed them. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and accepting and said that she would take an aggressive person, which they've done in the past. However, the manager I talked to later on the phone said it wouldn't be fitting for them."

"I went to Village Gardens. The rooms were very nicely appointed and very well maintained. The whole home was extremely clean. The staff all seemed very caring regarding the welfare of the residents. It's a small care home. They had one shared room available at a slightly lower cost than the private rooms, but for the most part, the rooms were all private. Everything was immaculate and impeccable. The gardens were well-maintained and attractive. They had a beautiful backyard and patios that were available to the residents that wish to use it. They had a nice common room where they could gather and watch television or play a game together. They had a piano, too. The staff who accommodated me was very accommodating and very willing to show us all the rooms and answer any questions we had."

"Cobble Stone Residential Home Care was very nice and clean. They got a friendly and competent staff. The room they had was nice, open, and furnished. Everything was well taken care of. What I liked the most about it was it was a home and not a facility. It had a small number of residents, so I liked it better."

"Very beautiful facility feels more like home. They have four private rooms one shared the master, but it seems more like private. They put a wall down the middle to separate and it was wonderful, very competitive pricing compared to other facilities, but their service is Pristine. I was really impressed, very polite well trained staff I will be placing my mother here"

"My father-in-law is in Arcadia Gardens, and he has dementia. He has only been there two weeks. He likes the food, and he eats 100% of all of his meals. They are very attentive and take very good care of him. It's a beautiful clean house. We chose it because of its location and the staff; it also fit into our budget. "

"Summer Springs Board and Care is really good. It's managed by a family and the people that run it lives on site. It's owned by a couple, an RN and a physical therapist. The in-laws are the licensed caregivers. It's very family-oriented. When dad gets restless, they take him for a ride in a car or takes him to their house for a little while and gives him the change of scene. It's not as fanciest, but they really care about the people. They never know when I'm coming because I go different days and different hours. They have stationary bike and he rides that, he can go for a walk, and they play games with him. They bathe him and make sure he's clean. He's eating and he's happy. They bring him to church on Sunday. He gets two free rides to doctors during the month, and that's unusual. They do the laundry. I told them I'll take the laundry I'm going to do it, and they do it. So I can't believe how bless I was to find them. They kept their word on everything. So I'm very happy. "

"Their rooms are really clean and tidy! Some of them are really spacious and nice! They are mostly a home setting, so it's like being taken care of at our own home 24 hours a day. I noticed they're very patient and caring people. Even when they're busy, they take the time to listen to our requests and needs. And they do their best to prioritize our family and decide what's best for my grandmother given the circumstances. When my grandmother was suffering from a bad flu, they immediately let us know and were able to clearly communicate how she was doing and showed their concerns and advised us on what to do. I got to say, if it weren't for their help, I doubt my grandmother would have recovered. When my grandmother was there, I noticed that the residents like to play bingo sometimes and that the staff would also help them with some daily exercises. I strongly recommend this facility for anyone wanting compassionate and experienced people!"

"A Comfort Care Home was very nice and clean. The community looks great. It looks peaceful, open and everything. What I like the most is that every room has a big bathroom and shower in it. They look very comfortable. They all have windows. The staff is nice. They're very nice people. They didn't have a gate on them, but the place looked pretty secure."

"My mother moved into Sage Care Homes. It is a private care home. The workers and the owner are fantastic with their clients. There isn't anything that I don't like. They are attentive, caring, and always willing to work a little harder to make sure their clients are happy. My mom says the food is good. The place is very clean and nice. They play cards, and they play games to keep them active. They take them for walks. They let them dress up on Halloween and give out candies."

"My mother is in Jasmin Terrace at Bakersfield. It's bigger than it looks from the street. From the street, it looks very small, but it goes back in a big triangle and has a kind of courtyard in the center of it. It's very simple. It's not a fancy place. It's very clean. They come in and sweep and mop and dust my mom's apartment every day. The staff is extremely friendly. She has a pull cord, and when she pulls it, they come right away and assist her to go to the restroom. They bring her meals to her room. She has a lot of difficulty walking. They would wheel her to the dining room if she wanted to go, but she didn't want to. I know they offer bingo. They offer certain movies in the dining hall. They offer wheelchair aerobic kind of things. They've been just extremely good to her. It's not perfect, but I feel really good about them. It's very good. She's very happy to be there."

"The staff is very caring and knowledgeable and is willing to listen to all the crazy an elderly individual can throw. They are all specially trained and equipped to deal with anything my uncle could do. He had a habit of roaming the halls and creating stories but both of these were no issue. The staff was caring and kind and knew just what to do to make it easier for him to live there. I would gladly recommend this place. "

"Hallmark of Bakersfield is excellent all the way around. Good environment, the people are friendly, and they are very excellent caretakers. They have very good food and a really excellent cook. They have a lot of activities -- like they do parties for different holidays, and they have Bingo and other games, and a bus that takes them out. They do something every day. My friend really likes it there. She likes how the workers take time in helping and assisting her as well as the friendly atmosphere of the place. "
