"I toured Brookdale Anaheim. I like that it's close to our current place where I'm living. I like the property, people, and staff I met. The person who took me on the tour was kind and nice. They're very detailed, very caring, and want to help. She even told me, "What can I do for you to help you?" I liked that. I like that they have this process of checking their mentality, and they check everything, physically and mentally. They do assessments before accepting them into the community. So, I like all the details that they have. It was very clean and well-lit in every area because we went through the community, where they gathered together to play, and the patio was nice."

"I toured this facility with my mother and found it to be very inviting! It's a newer facility and the rooms are beautiful/clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My mother really liked that the rooms had full kitchens and washer/dryers as her independence is important to her. The location and activities provided were awesome! "It is a home in Lakewood. It is an older home. They put their money into having great caregivers. It's not fancy. The care was outstanding. There are ramps for wheelchairs and walkers. There are two patients to a room. Most were bedridden. All of the meals are freshly cooked for whatever the patients want. When my mom first arrived there I would sample bites of her food. I liked it. If she didn't like it, they would make her something else. Every bedroom has a med size screen TV. The comment about the caregivers sitting on couch is dumb, where else are they going to sit? They do not stand over the patients and stare at them until they need to eat or have a diaper change or be bathed or be helped to the restroom if they are ambulatory. It never smelt of stale urine. Of course there will be odor when a diaper of feces is changed. When she could still get up, they helped with her exercises. Caregivers are allowed to have breaks just like any other workplace. Most of staff are continuing their education to be RN's. My mother loved her caregivers there. My mother had a lot more personal contact there than my mother in law does in the $7,000.+ place in Culver City."

"My favorite place is Ivy Park at Cerritos. I went there two weeks ago. I liked it, and they invited me to the Easter egg hunt last Friday, so my mother and I went. They asked us to stay for lunch, so we sat in the dining area, had lunch, and everything was perfect. It seems like it's well-managed. There were lots of employees and all the residents living there are all well taken care of. There's a lot of help. The staff was very nice. It was very clean. There are a lot of facilities, a lot of places where residents can go and play with puzzles or Monopoly or something. There were lots of rooms for them to enjoy themselves and be together. I liked it. The atmosphere was very friendly and very open. Residents were walking around when you walked in. They're very friendly, saying hi, and welcoming us."

"I toured Brookdale for my friend. It was lovely and comfortable. Kristin, I believe she was the director, was very helpful and thoughtful. It was good. I was very happy and pleased with it. I saw the dining room, and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. During my time there, I was very pleased. As far as the dining room goes, it was clean, well-organized, and inviting."

"It was very clean and very beautiful. It's got beautiful gardens and beautiful accommodations. The staff gave me a tour of the memory care. They were very, very knowledgeable. They have crafts, yoga, and different activities. The dining room was beautiful. They also have a TV room that's very clean and very nice. Another thing was I don't have to make appointments to go see my sister if I place her there and people can go visit her. It's open 24 hours. So, that's a plus because sometimes you'd make an appointment and it's hard to get there. So, you're able to go there when you can. I'm in love with that place."

"I can not thank Martin enough for the compassionate and kind care that he provided for my mother’s partner “John”. We were in a dire situation and needed to make the difficult decision to place her partner somewhere that met his physical and mental needs. Not only was he provided a safe and clean home, but given the dignity he deserved. Carla (the house manager) is worth her weight in gold. Dementia is a cruel disease and so many times people suffering through it are dismissed or overlooked. Carla would go above and beyond to make our loved one feel heard and cared for. The house is bright and clean. It feels like a home rather than a facility. Our whole family is so grateful that we found a place the offers dignified care. Thanks to Martin, Carla, and everyone at Golden Eden. They are an example of how all care homes should be run."

"Home R Us was very nice and clean. The lady there was, I supposed, the one who owns the place. It had pictures of her family all on the wall. The room they showed us could be for two people or one and it was very clean. It was just hot in the room (but those were very hot days, too). The living room had a nice sitting area. It's homey. They only have one big bathroom. The owner was kind of a young woman. She was very sweet and kind. She said they have activities. She didn't specify what they all do, but I saw books lying around and they have a big TV there. They don't have something like taking them out on excursions or anything."

"I live here in Independent Living and I love it. I moved here from another, smaller, senior community one year after my wife passed because this one has more residents and more chances for me to make friends. I immediately asked and was encouraged by senior staff to facillitate two mentally challenging discussion groups every week for people with like interests. They are still going strong and many of us have become good friends. I can't praise the staff enough for consistently providing excellent meals, activity opportunities, and overall cleanliness. I also can't praise my fellow residents enough; we have been successful enough in life (I retired 26 years ago as a high school principal.) to be able to enjoy this quality of life with our peers."

"I toured Beach Terrace Assisted Living & Memory Care. It was bright with lots of natural sunlight. The interior, the way it was decorated was beautiful. The common space was huge. It just feels so welcoming. I saw the menu and it looked like a menu at a restaurant. What was on the menu was pretty interesting, like salmon, asparagus, squash, and stuff like that. I saw a shared room. It was nice. I like the semi-private room, and the room on each side was huge. You can really put a six-seating dining room table and a full-size bed. The shared bathroom was in between and they had doors from each side of the room for the bathroom. They had a big picture window. The staff was so gracious. He was so informative. The tour was guided by the guy who worked there, but the guy that I already had was the one who took me. He was the one who was already familiar with the place, and between what I heard and what I saw, I was more impressed with Beach Terrace."

"My stepmom is a resident of Rowntree Gardens, and what I like most is the responsive and caring staff. It is a Christian community, and it has many activities. The people that are living there are very nice. It's a wonderful community. It has an atrium in the middle. There's a lot of outdoor beauty in the gardens and a lot of outdoor space to mingle. They have doctors that come. They have a church and a full-time pastor. They have a beauty shop. They have a fully stocked library. They have rooms for private events that you can reserve. They have a little gift shop, a main dining room, and a fire lounge."
