"I visited River Oaks Village Assisted Living (Providence Assisted Living) in Searcy. They opened up an Alzheimer's memory unit recently. It looked beautiful, and it was $4600 a month. I was in caregiving before, and it was better than any facility I had ever worked in. It's within a secured area. The room had a common area with a kitchen and two bedrooms, and one bedroom was 20x14. It had a bath with a seat in it, etc. It was very nice and very comfortable looking, but my father would be sharing a room with another man there. It also had a big screen TV, a couch, and a chair. They involve everyone -- even in the memory unit -- in every activity. In fact, they were having a luau, and each Alzheimer's or memory care patient has an individual caregiver that is there in and out every hour constantly. They take them down, they have games, and they play. The have a 24-hour nurse there also. "

"My visit to Wood-Lawn was good. It was decorated very nicely and it was clean; the staff that assisted me was just wonderful and very friendly. The rooms were fine and there's not a problem with them. We could not afford it, but they have good reviews. Their amenities looked fine; they had a game room, craft room, a beauty salon, and an outdoor court. I think they had about what you can imagine you'll need. I didn't see anything going on at the time."

"My sister is in Lindley Health Care right now. She’s 93 and is supposed to have some therapy, but she doesn’t get out of bed and I’m afraid she’s going to get bed sores. She wants to come home, and I’m always afraid I can’t do it on my own because of my back. The room is very clean and nice. So far, the service has been pretty good, not really bad or anything, but I just don’t think they get her up and give her any exercise. They just put her in a wheelchair and take her to the dining room, then bring her back and put her in the bed, and she doesn’t get any exercise. They have a lot of activities and have something going on all day. She got sick and had to go to the hospital, and the hospital sent her over to this place. I didn’t even know she was going over there till they called and told me that she was there. "

"Riverside (The Crossing At Riverside Health and Rehabilitation) has everything from assisted to total private care. The place was very nice. The people seemed like they liked it and they were happy there. The staff was really nice and the food looked good. They have a library, outside activities, activity rooms, and games. It was really nice. You could eat in your room or in the dining room. They take the ones who are able on little trips."

"We liked Harding Place Retirement Community. The room we saw had a little kitchen and a bath. They have a cafeteria and a games and television recreation area. The staff was very helpful and the food was good. The place was very clean and well kept up."

"Searcy's "lock down" Alzheimer wing is wonderful expecially for early stages of the disease.. however they do not keep them in the wing once they become immobile. they offer many activities and interaction with the residents... However I do not recommend it once they are in the regular population ..... "
