"My brother is currently staying at Avantara North. They have professional physical therapy technicians who live on-site. They also have nurses and medical personnel right there in the facility. It's a stressful situation, but everybody there was helpful. Somebody there even helped him get his Medicare application done. He couldn't have gone there because we couldn't afford to until he got approved. I think they did it for him in just a couple of days, within a week, too, and that made our decision to help him stay there. They're just great people. They do everything, like give him his medication on time and bathe him. He is staying in a two-person room. They're just wonderful people to work with. I didn't meet anybody who was not polite. He eats three meals a day, and says he doesn't like it; he only likes pizza and fried chicken, but he's pretty stubborn. I've seen the meals myself, and they're all balanced with vegetables, meats, and lettuce. Everything they need is all planned out for every person there every day. I had some meatloaf, potatoes, and gravy, and I thought it was excellent. I've never seen the place dirty, but we had some pretty bad snowstorms, and they only shoveled up just a path. It was big enough for wheelchairs to get through from the street parking lot to the building, but that was the only thing I ever noticed that was out of place. I thought they'd have somebody come in and completely get rid of all the snow, but we had a lot of snow there for about a month, too. They have live bands and school bands come in. The first day I went there to drop my brother off, I met Elvis Presley, who was in the band. They do that in the activities room every day. Of all the places I talked to, it was the most inexpensive one. I don't know a lot about the program, but they're accepting my brother's Social Security, and they're covering the rest of his bill to live there. If our government and the system are willing to pick up the balance after his social security, to help him live out the rest of his life there, I think it would be great."
