Nursing Home Communities in Sturgis, SD

"The people at Aspen Grove Assisted Living were very nice. I saw a room, but it was just one room, a bathroom, and a closet. It was very small. The staff was really good. I had a meal there, and it was good. They had a patio and had some raised garden beds in it. It was all clean and I think it's good, but the individual rooms were not great. They were kept clean, and they were adequate, but they're not anything special."

"My husband is in Spearfish Canyon Healthcare. I'm very pleased. The nursing staff and the staff there are wonderful. They take very good care of my husband. For instance, he falls a lot so they don't leave him in his room. They have him seated right out by the nursing station, so they can watch him. So they've been wonderful. Cleanliness seems fine. I've never noticed anything amiss, they clean his room. They have a lot of activities. My husband doesn't participate in any of those, but they have bingo, they have cards, and they have outings and they go to. The dining area is very clean and nice. The food's been fine."

"My husband has been in Rolling Hills Healthcare for two years now. It's clean. Most of the staff is quite friendly and caring. I don't have any complaints, except for the cost and then the distance from me, if I could afford it, I would keep him there. He's made friends there. It could use a remodeling. It's pretty good, but it's getting a little worn out. They have bingo, other games like trivia, they have music trivia and other kinds of trivia. They have parties like a St. Patrick's Day party, or every holiday, which is nice. They enjoyed that. They have birthday celebrations once a month and then they bring in cake and punch, or whatever. They have two different kinds of churches. They have a Catholic service, that's weekly, and then they also have a Christian service, where a couple of ladies come in and sing and have their church. They have some activities, very few because of the COVID thing, where they bring kids in to sing, or have a little program, or decorate the windows. But lately, the kids haven't been able to come inside. For Halloween, they have a good deal for costumes, and it seems like they always have little things for the residents. On Cinco de Mayo, they had big hats, sombreros, and for St. Patrick's they had little hats for that, and they always have little extras. I think they do pretty well. My husband just thinks the food is wonderful. He said almost everything is really good."

"My wife is staying at Fountain Springs Healthcare Center and it is very, very good, but it's also very expensive. It's $317 a day, which is pretty high. She's still in therapy now so it could still drop down to $273, but that is still $8,200 a month. I would love to keep her there but I can't sustain that for very long at that price. She is getting excellent care there though, there is no doubt about that. The room she is in right now is not particularly nice for a long term, so I might have her move to a different room. Medicare will no longer pay for that so I can probably get a nicer room now that I am paying for it. The food has been excellent, they're feeding her really well. They also give her snacks. I was with her the other day to eat lunch and she had a very good lunch. It was pulled pork with tater tots, parsleyed carrots, and a cookie for dessert. It was really good. I haven't seen too much of the food there but I have heard from others, and I understand that the blueberry pancakes for breakfast were excellent too."

"I was a resident of Avantara nursing facility for about two months. It was a pleasant experience, and I received excellent care from all staff members. The facility is clean and well taken care of. Therapy was also excellent and pleasant to work with I would recommend this home to anyone who needs care for themselves or their family members ."

"My parents are now at Clarkson Mt View Health Care Facility. It's an absolutely fantastic facility. When you go in the front door, the atmosphere is so much brighter, nicer, and cleaner. Everybody from the nursing staff to maintenance people, to the executive team, are very friendly and caring, and will do anything to help your parents, and us the kids, with whatever is needed. My parents like the food. I've eaten there a couple of times and it's good. The rooms are very nice, large, carpeted, have nice warm colors, and are very modern. I like the fact that the air-conditioning system has filtering for COVID, and anytime my parents are out of their bed, if they're in a wheelchair down at physical therapy, their bed is made with clean sheets immediately. It's so clean in there. The nurses are very helpful, and make sure that everybody's comfortable. They have bingo, and every once in a while they'll have pizza parties, they'll bring in some entertainment, and they'll have a movie night. There's a lot of activities for the people staying there."
