My cousin is currently staying home with some home care help from Home Instead in Osterville. They are very prompt in responding to our needs. They do have a minimum number of hours per week and a minimum number of hours per shift. It's three shifts, and 4 hours each. They are not inexpensive. We have had four visits now, with the same woman three times, and a different woman one time. Today we're having a different person again. I would say if there was one criticism, it would be that I think, especially for an older person whose memory is not great, it would be nice to have the same person each time so that they can develop a rapport with that person. Other than that, the people who have come have certainly been very nice, and they've been prompt in arriving. Last week, I asked for help in bathing my cousin and doing some laundry for her, and they did that. So far, it's been relatively good. The billing is an automatic payment that comes out of the checking account, so I don't have to worry about necessarily paying an invoice. I don't know if that's the case with everyone, but that's how we chose to do it. I have a link on my phone where I can look to see when a payment has been made or when it's due. I can also look at the schedule to see who is scheduled to come. You need to give them 72 hours' notice if you need someone to come beyond the normal scheduled shifts that you have, and you can look at them. I think having a consistent caregiver would be helpful.
