Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in San Luis Obispo County:

Meals that Connect

To qualify, visitors must be at least 60 years of age or married to someone of that age. A short application must be sent in to register seniors. Meals that Connect asks for 48 hours of notice from those planning to attend a meal service. However, arrangements can be made to deliver food to those who cannot leave their home.

In-Home Supportive Services Program

Once an application has been sent in, a county social worker schedules an interview to determine the scope of assistance needed. Applicants must also be homebound residents of California who are eligible for Medi-Cal coverage.
