"We have Rainbow Care for my 88 year-old Father who has late stage Alzheimer's Disease. They care for my Father but they also have support for family. They coordinate getting the supplies he needs. A nurse comes once a week, more if needed. My Father's care team meets once a week to go over his care and concerns. When we needed medical attention for my Father, we would get the run-around from his primary doctor. He would tell us to take my Father to the ER. My Father is home-bound. I am so glad we found Rainbow Care! "

"My choice would be Elmhurst Home Health In Illinois. They are very "in tune" with your needs, very caring, & follow up with you. This is my story. I've been invited to a memorial service in April, & they called & told me about it. My story: My dad passed away from Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He didnt want to go thru chemo again (he was 93). He wanted to die at home. I did my best to keep him comfortable, got him Netflix of all old movies unitl he lost control of his legs. He was then bedboung and seemed to lose interest in everything. he had no appetite except for hot cereal early in the day. We had home health nurses check on him twice a week. Things just went from bad to worse, & he slept constantly. I think he picked his own time to go. I took a nap at 6:30pm, & by 7,my husband woke me and said he was gone. I stayed there crying & holding his hand until Home Health arrived and made the arrangements. I still have the pangs of guilt. Why did I take a nap? I still havent gotten over it, he passed 6 mos ago. I still have crying jags that last for hours. I miss him terribly. "

"If I could give 10 stars I would. My experience with everyone at Vitas - from the initial consultation to the entire nursing staff and phone operators - was incredibly professional, understanding, patient & comforting through one of the most difficult & heartbreaking experiences I’ve ever had. When my mother got out of the hospital and I could no longer give her the care she required, Vitas Hospice stepped in & made everything easier for our family. They are a well oiled machine that always took the time to explain things to us so mom was involved in making decisions about her care. I can’t thank the nurses enough for their around the clock care and making mom comfortable in her last couple of weeks. I cannot recommend Vitas enough! Our experience was nothing short of a godsend."

"My brother was on Home Health services with Family and we were so pleased with Nursing and Therapy. The nuse was so caring & Kind. She treated my brother as if he were a family member. She had such a big heart. If she was going to be even 15 minutes late she would call to let us know. They even provided a telehealth machine that gave all his vital information that was monitored by a nurse every day to let us know if something was off like his blood pressure, weight gain or oxygen levels. I would definitely refer Family Home Health to my family and Friends. The Therapist was so involved with his care and i could definitely see a change for the better with his strength. Thank you for all the great work you do! "

"We contacted vitas while my mother was still in the hospital. We initially thought she would be with palliative services but unfortunately that was not the case. She declined rapidly and needed end of life comfort hospice. She remained in the hospital during this time until she passed away. From the initial meeting with Vitas registration, to the aide who came in daily to bath and groom my mother, to the chaplains, and finally the nurse, we could not have been any more pleased with their compassion and care. I would recommend the Vitas Healthcare of Lombard to anyone who finds themselves in this emotional situation."

"Our dad was transferred over to Hospice Journey Care in Barrington during the final week and a half of his life from his memory care home. The nurses, clergy & staff that were taking care of our dad, both at the home and in hospice, definitely knew what needed to be done to have our dad finally pass peacefully, after being in terminal agitation. Once he was put into hospice, within a day, he was much more calm and finally settled down with the right medications that they recognized that he needed. When the time came for his passing, our dad even had a smile on his face! He has not truly smiled in a long time either. That brought us all peace that he finally was able to let go after being in major dementia for close to 5 years. My sisters and I could not be more happier for his last few days of his life. If he wasn't moved over to hospice care, he would still be agitated, which only prolonged his torment. It was a blessing that Journey Care was and is in our lives! And with the post care services offered to us also for grieving of his passing, really helps with losing your loved one. His transition journey helped both him and us. I thank God that there is a place like Journey Care to care for end-of-life patients. THANK YOU!"

"The Advocate Hospice Team is the GOLD standard.... they helped us keep my father at home through his final days and were always there to help us help him... that is how it should be. Many may want others to handle the challenges of end of life care, but we wanted to be there and just needed the support of the Hospice Team, we got it!! Thank you!!!"

"When we were looking around for an assisted living for my grandmother after we found out that she had alzheimer's, we took a look at Little Mary's. We really liked, as did my grandmother. The staff were friendly and happily answered our questions. My grandmother really like the people since the really made her feel like family. The unfortunate part was that they are still rather small and while my grandmother was willing to live at home with a care provider, since their home base was so nearby, the lack of the medical facilities she might need caused us to look elsewhere. The staff was friendly and competent though, and if the conditions had been different, my grandmother would have happily worked with them. "

"We had hospice care with Transitions Care. Most of the nurses were good and knowledgeable. I was not impressed with the P.A. I had to tell her what to do, which was kind of sad. They ran out of meds for him, and they had somebody come to my house at 11:30 at night with them. To me, that shouldn't have happened. They use these meds for everybody and it's not like it's a new and improved drug. When the social worker was here, she was extremely unprofessional. She sat here and pulled hair off the dog and threw it on the floor. I'm looking at her like, "My husband is laying here in a hospital bed in the middle of the living room dying and you want me to worry about brushing a dog?" I said, "Please don't throw it down on the floor. I have to clean that up." And then she called a chaplain. My priest had been to my house twice already and I didn't need this chaplain. I told her so, but they came, and the chaplain sat down next on one side of the bed, and I was on the other side trying to say my goodbyes to my husband. They're talking back and forth about what a nice subdivision this is, wondering how much the houses go for. That it's really nice and it's a good retirement community. I finally looked at her and I said, "You know, let me tell you something. For one thing, I really don't think you even need to be here. I have my own priest, and all I did was pick up the phone and he'll be here in ten minutes. For another thing, I am not going to listen to you two talk real estate. Go outside if you want to do that." I said, "Personally, I don't even know what the social worker is doing here. All you're doing is making a mess in my living room. So, I would like you both to leave." That's pretty bad that I had to do that, but I have never dealt with anybody like that. That was awful. My husband died at 10:30 and they didn't come and take care of him until 2:30. So, we had him sitting here in the living room, and then we had to wait for the funeral home to come. It was just a horrible experience. To me, that shouldn't have happened that way. And they blamed everything on COVID and being short staffed."

"My brother was in AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center - Naperville. It's a very, very small unit. It has only like maybe 15 single beds or rooms. The nurses' station is in the middle. They have a nice family dining area and a nice lounge with comfortable couches. The staff was wonderful. They were checking on him all the time. They were talking about things that he enjoys, like his cat. They had music therapy, which was very wonderful. They have a religious person who comes and talks to their families as well. They offered all kinds of things to help their families, whether it be like a fingerprint, like on a necklace, or a hand cast. They've taken shirts and made pillows out of shirts that belonged to the person that passed. They had a lot of services that we didn't use. It was very open. 24 hours a day you can stay with them. It's secure. You have to go through a door to get in and be buzzed in. It wasn't like you could just walk in. It felt very safe. The staff was very attentive, not just to patients, but to us as well. I was very impressed. I only had one other experience with an inpatient hospice facility, and this was by far the best that I've had of the two. I only had one staff member that gave us any issues, but most of them were extremely attentive, always coming in, checking on him, and checking on us as a family. It's very easy to get into and off of the main road. It's easy to find."
